Lauren Bacall too lived there, and Rosemarys baby was filmed there out side shots , and a few inside shots , Roman polanski directed it starring Mia Farrow, John cassvettes , etc
Movie was released 12th of June 1968.
12yrs later, John Lennon body is found on the same spot as the lady that “fell from the window” in the movie.
I also found out that Rosemary’s Clooney ( George Clooneys aunt), also lived there.

There's a lot of pictures of John Lennon in the Dakota
Every time I see the front of this iconic Dakota Apartments, I hear Mia Farrow's eerie singing "La La La" over the credits of _Rosemary's Baby_ .
I believe Sean has claimed it as his own home since the covid pandemic. Yoko evacuated the concrete jungle to avoid catching it. She lives on a 600 acre farm in the middle of nowhere. When Sean was a baby, Roberta Flack lived across the hall from their apartment. Sean calls her "Aunt Roberta." Leonard Bernstein moved into an apartment on the 2nd floor when Yoko was pregnant. The opening scene and most of the location filming of Rosemary's Baby starring Mia Farrow was done in and around the Dakota about six months before she crossed paths with the Beatles in February 1968. About five years after John's murder she moved into the Langham across the street from the Dakota on 73rd while she was romantically involved with Woody Allen. They never married or lived together. She lived on the west side of Central Park and Woody had his own place on the upper east side. Her apartment was one of the locations used to film Hannah and Her Sisters. Her mother also lived in the Langham many years ago. James Taylor lived near the corner of Columbus and 76th at the time of John's murder. He claimed he heard the shots from his house and said the guy who shot John recognized him as he was walking down the street in the neighborhood and they exchanged words a few days before the murder.
Walls & Bridges was part of his lost weekend. He did not record it while living there. In fact,it was recorded in LA. Mind Games, Sometime in New York City, and Double Fantasy were the albums he did while living there.
So your video is about the inside of the Dakota… where John and Yoko lived… but you have no pictures… excellent!!! Why bother posting at all????

Before making that comment I scrolled down to see if anyone else caught it and found your comment. Yes, sadly Julian's life was mostly that of an absentee father in presence, love and support.... Yoko didn't help that much and by many accounts, made it worse.

2 of the most classless people- the apt is pedestrian once you’ve seen the beauty and elegance of Bacall and Bernstein. Lennon was a great musician of his time but that’s about it. We all know about yoko.

LOL Peace and love after he hit both Cynthia and Ono...Not to make him a saint please.They DID NOT OWN that apartment on Bank Street. One of the members of the band Lovin' Spoonful owned it.Where was this storage unit auctioned?? Never heard of it, I have doubts.You SHOW a lot of Tittenhurst Park in the UK....He was never a househusband...he was stoned 90% of the time while Yoko was downstairs in the office known as Studio One.
