    How wonderful is that batch of pots. I have stuck to a more limited pallet of Amaco glazes and some others. Also Underglaze and coloured slips. Like you I like to try different things out especially as I am am a novice. You have spurred me on to get in some more of those Amaco glazes and try out some of those combinations for myself.
    I love you studio. its very like my own except I originally built my studio as a workshop for renovating motorcycles. Its now mainly dedicated to pottery.
    Thanks for posting these video clips.

    Wonderful load.
    The bowl @2:35 finds me looking at a scene as the sunlight has gone down and darkness is falling.
    Great results with the indents too on the other bowls.
    Ta for sharing!

    All of the pieces are so beautiful. I love how the bright rich colors are finally being made for pottery. My favorite is the bright multicolored jar with lid. I'm with you on not liking to make but one of a type and then move on to something different.

      It’s the Skutt 1018 so I think 23 inch across 18 inch high

    How do you make the candle holders or bird bath ?

    • @LoisHook
      @LoisHook  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can watch the videos of how to make the bird bath...the whole process id documented. the candle holder is a thicker bit of clay then it trimmed into shape.

    what was oblisian glaze with the blue glazes

      Hi Nancy. I had indented that bowl and wanted a glaze that would show it up. So obsidian x3. Indigo Float x3 at rim 2 half way down the 1 for another inch down. Then I tried Ancient jasper on the rim in and out and got that tremendous result.

    Your glazing is amazing!! I’ve been struggling with the process for some time. What clay are you using? And your normal firing schedule? Just ordered a small L and L doll kiln to start testing glazes so I don’t waste so much time and money. You are a true inspiration!! Thx!!🙏🏻

      mary carlino I’m using in this Cas a Scarva clay -ES10. I’ve got a Skutt kiln that is a KMT 1018 and use a computerised preset code 6. Though the next time I’m going to do a 5.5 come firing as the one I’m using g goes to a good cone 7.

      Lois Hook Pottery Thanks Lois! You are getting such amazing results why are you opting to change your firing schedule?

    • @LoisHook
      @LoisHook  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      mary carlino that is the debate. The cones I places in the kiln showed it was over a cone 7. Maybe a cone 8. I do a 15 minute hold that would bring the end result higher than a cone 6. I am just tempted to do a fire slightly cooler only by a bit because I don’t want to loose the best colours and presume I have it all sussed. I thought the last fire the bowl with the celadon storm on the outside. Inside was deep firebrick and Ancient Jasper. I felt the colours were darker than I expected. So why not.

      Lois Hook Pottery There are so many variables...and I imaging some combos will get better results at different cones. That said... I think you are still getting such beautiful results. I have seen a lot of videos, and I can honest say that your results are by far the best I have seen. 👍🏻

      Lois Hook Pottery I am in the USA and I see the clay you use is a brand not available in the US. Also it lists as a cone 9 clay. I’m wondering if this is also the reason you get such great results. Is earthstone the same as stoneware? Thanks!!
