    So much fun watching all these lovely "gifts" come out of the kiln. It probably wasn't your original intent when filming, but these videos are just so calming, uplifting, and soothing to view. Got smiles for miles. Thanks for brightening this viewer's day - looking forward to watching all of your content!

    Really nice load of pots. Someone will swoon over the brush glaze mug.
    I have not been drawn to Raku, however your raku pots' finishes were really nice and I liked a lot.
    Ta for sharing!

    Wonderful video and pieces! I’m at a similar stage in my pottery and I’m about to set up a garden studio, definitely going for a Skutt kiln!

      Kimberly Wilbee So inside 3x iron Lusture, 1 x Blue Rutile, 1 thick oatmeal. Bottom rim and top rim outside 3x iron lusture. Chattering in the middle of the side wall 3x blue Rutile. Then oatmeal think on the outside rim x1

    The carving and glaze on the large bowl is fantastic. If you mentioned the glazes on the outside I missed it. Please share?☺️

      If it’s the chattered midnight skies bowl that comes out at the beginning. I’ve used a rainforest celadon over chattering. It’s amazing as it’s a see through glade. The top is the same as the inside 3 x obsidian 2 x Smokey Merlot with oatmeal over

      @@LoisHook it was a bowl with carved vegetation with diamond core tools. Gorgeous browns and hints of blue, red, yellow?

      I will try to watch the video through but do you have a time so I can go straight to it.

    • @LoisHook

      So the bowl at 8.00 minutes with the diamond core carving that looks like wheat. That was three coats of Textured Amber Brown. With one coat of Iron Luddite. Then oatmeal round the tip inch think to run outside and a layer of Oatmeal inside to get the blue colour.
      I think I should do some more test tiles because it’s been along time and I can see results like these and explain them. I did a jar with no iron lustre did the Sam oatmeal and was disappointed and not a great result so the iron lustre must help.

    What is your main use of oatmeal? What is the function it is providing to the other glazes. I was unclear after watching.

    • @LoisHook
      @LoisHook  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When I have done testing with oatmeal it acts as a flux and everything it touches runs and changes colour. So obsidian x3. Smokey merlot x2 would be a rich purple. Add oatmeal thick in the rim you get the blues of the first bowl I show. Oatmeal on Iron Lustre causes blues and pinks in the inside of the mugs.

    did you cover the magma with clear or no?

    • @LoisHook
      @LoisHook  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The magma is fired on a cone 6. And the result is what you get. The dark magma is this clear with more texture. The light magma is not to distinct.

      Anne Ottawa this is a skutt KMT1018. I wanted to do big bowls so wider was important.
