    I went with the RCI rock sliders based on a recommendation from an experienced off road shop in my area (Sacramento CA). I installed them about two years ago and have had no complaints. They look good and have held up well to my abuse and provide a good way of getting access to the roof rack... also RCI. I'm glad that I went with the 5 degree with the step. While the 20 degree steps are tighter to the body, the 5 degree keeps the hazards further away from the body sides giving a little more clearance when negotiating difficult terrain.

    RCI makes really good equipment. I went with these sliders (in steel) as well as their Catalytic converter guards (requires transmission skid) and steel gas tank skid. (I like to keep my equipment.) The other thing I did to improve handling is I went with the Bilstein 6112/5120 setup with the Bilstein springs.
    These sliders are great, and my wife loves them. She's short and these help her to get in/out much more easily. I went with the 5-degree option and top plate.

      Thank you for watching and commenting. Your rig sounds like a beautiful build. I am saving for a suspension lift kit and need to upgrade my skid plates.i was to go CBI but now I am leaning towards RCI skid.

      Thanks for the info. Just ordered RCI 5 dg sliders during their Labor Day sale. Although, now they do do a bolt on top plate. Don't know why. Also, curious what height you went with the 6112/5120 lift? In this video it appears pretty stock other than tires. Thanks!

    I balanced my sliders (different brand) on a floor jack and used that to hoist it up. I was able to precisely maneuver it and it was quite easy to get a couple bolts started. Jack stands typically won't have the ability to house the slider to exactly the right position. I covered the saddle with a rag to not scratch the powder coat.

      Thank you for watching and taking time to comment. I do like your approach and the flexibility over using a jack stand.

    What's the order of the bolts and washers for installing to the frame, especially the 5-1/2" carriage bolts? The RCI instructions weren't the best.

    • @timthetrailman4563

      I am not sure the pattern I did. I would traditionally start each one and then tighten from one end to the other, or you could start in the middle and work your way out like doing a head gasket.

    Would you stop another cars door if someone opened it on your 4Runner in a parking lot?
    Are good to use as a step to get into the car?
    Thanks for your video!

    • @timthetrailman4563
      @timthetrailman4563  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depending on the height of the other car's door, yes it could prevent their door from hitting your car.
      Yes, they can be used as a step. That is why I got the top plate option and angled at 5 degrees. The 20 degree option would not work well as a step.
      Thank you for watching. I hope that helps you.

      Thank you for watching and the compliment. The 5 degrees allow me to use them as a step. My wife is 5'2". So more for and others than me. Also another channel mentioned that their 20 degrees ones took a hit and they couldn't open their rear door till they slid the slider down on the frame.
