    I have the same pair and I´ve been enjoying them a ton, one of the things I´ve experienced and noticed from you playing is that no matter how, it´s really difficult to max out the Deckard´s eight voices. Nicely done here, I really enjoyed listening to this.

    • @riotbell5365
      @riotbell5365  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Yeah, it definitely gets a bit muddy with all 8 voices going at once. There's definitely a reason 6 voices seem to be standard for most analog polys.

    Ok I'm letting folks know who what to try this out and perhaps Loopop can test it out on video. Equipment Required: Osmose, Meris LVX and Deckard's Dream and MIDI cables. I guess maybe other MPE controllers will work similarly. MIDI connect from Osmose out to DD input and then connect the DD MIDI thru to LVX MIDI input. Your slider CC=1 will become your LVX modulation mixer which is awesome. Set the Osmose to MPE mode and set Osmose aftertouch option to CC=88. This will control the LVX modulation parameter (1). Here's those options (Chorus, Flanger, D.Flanger, Ring Mod, Barberpole, Granulize, Cassette). The parameter CC=88 aftertouch controls frequency, speed, tape slip, gain size as are associated with those options listed. Whenever you activate aftertouch using various pressure some amazing stuff happens making the DD come to afterlife. Let me know what you think.

      That's a killer setup. The Meris LVX is something I'm super eager to try out. I've loved everything else Meris has put out through the years.

    nice.................some really interesting tones.....but honestly, more than anything it makes me miss my old Linnstrument......it was the best controller I ever had..........................

    • @riotbell5365
      @riotbell5365  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's an amazing controller. Linn has definitely put his heart and soul into it. It's a real labor of love and one of the most high quality pieces of gear I've ever used. Honestly, I go back and forth. I've been using the Linnstrument for about 18 months and I'm no where near as proficient as I'd like to be. It's a bit like learning a new instrument. Some of those guys featured on Roger's channel are remarkably good. Something to aspire to I suppose.

    • @willswitchcraft
      @willswitchcraft ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it's an amazing piece of gear. I did sell mine, simply because I have a Pedal Powered ambient workspace, it didn't fit, and I can't afford to own gear I only use once in a while......I loved everything about it, and Roger has the best Customer Service out there.....

      @@willswitchcraft He absolutely does. I really can't think of anyone more passionate about supporting what he creates than Roger Linn. He's personally in the forums answering questions and responding directly to user feedback. Class act.

    must be a dream synth to play with the linnstrument using mpe

    • @riotbell5365
      @riotbell5365  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a great pairing. Most of these patches are being played in poly aftertouch mode because MPE can get pretty crazy!

  • @davlippo7

    I downloaded your voices. Thanks. Did you play them in order 1 thru 50? Mine don't have the names so I can't tell. I bought mine use. I hope it works. I have no way to test it but to compare the sounds. If I had a list that would help. Some of the consecutive voices sounded identical so I wasn't sure about what I was hearing. If they are in order I can go one by one.

    • @riotbell5365
      @riotbell5365  ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad to here it! Yes, I played them in order. Sorry about no names. To the best of my knowledge there's no way to name patches on the Deckard's Dream.

    Hello, I doubt whether to buy this 128 or buy the large model. What do you recommend? thanks

    • @riotbell5365
      @riotbell5365  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Victor. It really depends on your needs. I started out with the 128 and eventually upgraded to the 200. The 128 is an excellent size for travel and could easily fit in any backpack with a laptop setup. Very economically sized and sufficient for most task. I like the 200 size, but don't really need it. If I could go back, I would have probably just kept the 128 for space reasons. The 200 adds more range, but is significantly bigger. Either way, I would recommend buying used because there are some great deals right now after the release of the Osmose. Hope that helps!

    • @victorblancoarcas
      @victorblancoarcas ปีที่แล้ว

      @@riotbell5365 Thank you very much Riotbell for your advice, it really is only one octave more and the space is much more than it needs. You're right, it really depends on each person's needs. I really appreciate your advice and wisdom.

    The DD is cool but that controller is just goofy tapping buttons. Get an Osmose MPE+ and learn to play on that traditionally using each finger as an envelope.

    • @riotbell5365
      @riotbell5365  ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I actually have an Osmose, which is an amazing controller in its own right. But IMO, the Linnstrument is probably a better MPE controller all around. It depends on what you're going for I suppose.

    • @davlippo7
      @davlippo7 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@riotbell5365 Good for textures, ambiance, slides and pedal steel guitar simulation but players would have to learn an unconventional way of playing. OR if they don't know how to play conventionally then this is fun to do. I just got my DD and using the Osmose MPE controls and it's awesome. Got the Meris LVX for ring mod and lots of effects. How does carpel tunnel feel to remain elevated and moving fingers is so many directions after playing a while? You might be young so it matters not. That controller is almost as much as the Osmose and the Osmose offers about 500 different instruments. It seems overpriced in comparison at $1,500.

    • @MonadTransformer
      @MonadTransformer 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I bought the Linnstrument (the weird button grid thingy) soon after watching this video. This controller has an additional timbre dimension that the Osmose doesn't have, and the MPE slides are much more intuitive. So yeah, I'd say if you're willing to learn the layout it's a better overall choice.
      But, on the other hand, the Osmose has a more traditional layout and better aftertouch control. So it does have some upsides too.
      With the Linnstrument you can do envelope control too, but the fine gestures (restrikes and up&down shakes) are very hard to control - I did some experiments with the latest Expressive E Noisy 2 software synth.

    • @Redneck_Wizard
      @Redneck_Wizard 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Linnstrument can be viewed as an MPE 8 string 24 fret guitar with the ability to go up and down octaves, the Osmose doesn't have Y axis control like the Linnstrument either I think the Seaboard Rise 2 is a better MPE controller than the Osmose.

    • @MonadTransformer
      @MonadTransformer 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Redneck_Wizard The Seaboard probably doesn't have a good aftertouch control either - same issue as the Linnstrument, not enough vertical key travel.
      I'd say the Osmose has the most precise aftertouch control, the Seaboard and the Continuum have the most precise timbre control, the Continuum and the Linnstrument have the best most straightforward pitch bend control due to the unorthodox layout, the Osmose and the Linnstrument are better optimized for fast playing.
