Lmao, yeah. Although the verdict summed up my feeling with this game (and 7 is a pretty fair score for me) but it lacked Luke's depth of coverage. The footage just felt like it was only explored on the surface level.
Now that I've played the game, I have one criticism/question about this review: "Unfortunately Trackmania has never explained its self particularly well" The tutorial has a list of 20 tracks where each track clearly shows off a certain element in the game, like boost pads or slow motion pads etc. What else should there be? I just don't see any need for any more explanation than there is. Same thing in all Trackmanias I've played in the past - it's a kinda minimalistic racing game, where the goal is to just... reach the goal fast. Drive and find out the advanced tricks on the way yourself.

Yeah I actually love the business model. You can play all the tracks on offer and get a type of track editor - all for completely free! Then for just $10 a year, you get the full editor and a few other benefits, with the full-blown Esports version a fairly reasonable $30 a year. Great value imo
well it doesnt look so great compared to the old games which are $10 one-time payment and have more maps than this one will probably ever have, as-well-as the ability to save your damn custom tracks I'm sure ubisoft are happy that delusional players like you love the business model

The subscription model is fine, it's a game as a service with constant new official tracks added every season. It's relatively inexpensive when new games are 90$ CAD nowadays.
This game is not just a remake. The more you play and get to know of its features, the more you will enjoy it. Especially: There will be big eSports tournaments!

It was great on PS3 too! Although the loading times were horrible and you had to fight constant frame drops. I would love a new Modnation Racers on PC, though!
It was such a great game. It was basically a combination of TrackMania and Mario Kart. If something like this would come out now with the minimalistic style of games like Valorant and Fortnite you could make billions of dollars with it.

I dont understand why anyone would complain about the tutorial, I think it was perfect, it didnt hold your hand but it also didnt throw anything huge in your face immediately, it slowly integrated all the games mechanics into the levels.

Very silly to call the subscription bad... It's $10 a year to play online ($30 to edit). Way cheaper than the games are to purchase usually, and they're supporting it in a more meaningful way now - new daily tracks, more updates and developer tracks that you keep after your sub ends etc. Lots of things worth the small cost.
If most of the content is locked behind a tiered subscription service Ubisoft can get lost. You've got to love innovative greed in modern gaming, most publishers will probably adopt this in the future as well, just you watch, if they can't farm kids for that loot box money or money through other types of gambling crap in future because of new laws being implemented in big parts of the world other gambling in games, they will go with the subscription services and completely ruin proper gaming.

A person that doesn't know at least the basics like ign can't really commentate about a game that complicated, there goes a lot more into for example "shaving off time" than just driving it without hitting the walls, there's a lot of tricks and key combinations you need to master and much more that ign can't cover

sure can. On free version you are limited to the arcade channel though. On standard you can join any server. On club edition, you can create your own lobby for friends or public to join

I would recommend uplay because with epic games store, it will launch uplay anyway so buying straight from uplay skips an extra launcher. Also Nadeo get a little more money from the purchase from uplay.

Repeatedly fail a vertical bit and then revert to just doing donuts for 5 minutes just like the end of this vid pretty much sums up my original Trackmania Nations experience. I liked the later entries much more so they can keep this one.
I'm so excited to sink hundreds of hours into a "new" Trackmania. The $10 annual fee to support the developers and keep the servers running also isn't too steep and most people won't need to get the more expensive Club Membership. Let's hope enough people will jump in and keep this game alive for the years to come.

Nope, only on PC on Uplay or EGS. The devs said if the game does really well, it might come to consoles although thats not a guarantee. However they seem happy with the sales so far so who knows
While the core recipe of Trackmania remained the same ever since the first installment from 2003, you cannot really draw too many similarities between the game back in the days and the recent release.

I think he means tech like speed for drift, drifting, neo sliding, wiggling, no air time theory, etc. that the game doesn't teach you.

You shouldn't need actual tutorials to learn to get faster. I was able to learn to go fast on ice in one day without any special tips.

Trackmania Nations remake but with paywalls. I don't consider going back to Trackmania Nations because it's at least better, with new mechanics, but if the monetization system were the same...(it wouldn't be an demo)

id think those mmo games have way more server activity going on to more justify a subscription

Downvoting as you couldn't review the game before boarding the hype train of the sub model. I can understand the mention, but it aint needed 30 seconds in. play the game, review the game, say your piece about the sub model. Easy upvotes for you to join the hype train rather than creating some original content.

Because the driver is practically driving in slow motion Xd. No offence to the gameplayer

Nope, only on PC on Uplay or EGS. The devs said if the game does really well, it might come to consoles although thats not a guarantee. However they seem happy with the sales so far so who knows

While the core recipe of Trackmania remained the same ever since the first installment from 2003, you cannot really draw too many similarities between the game back in the days and the recent release.

currently it is only on PC. Nadeo said if it does really well on PC, they might consider making it available for consoles in the future but that isn't a definite
