Having watched a bunch of your Trackmania videos thus far, I've got to say: Props to Nadeo for making Trackmania's physics 100% Deterministic. That utter consistency is what allows for this insane skill ceiling, as well as the level of cheat detection that's available from being able to deterministically derive runs from inputs.

Hefest seems like a player that (usually) doesn't find unique tricks himself but is a master at perfecting someone else's exploit(s). Even if Wirtual discovered the airbrake trick many days prior it would have been in his best interest to delay using it in hopes that there will not be enough time for Hefest to practice it. It's risky af either way.
it makes for a dynamic ecosystem of record-building though. Wirtual-types discover many tricks, and Hefest-types perfect the timesaving capability of those tricks. There is immense value in both of these types of players for driving TM records forward.

I've been getting into TrackMania again recently and started binge-watching your videos. You are doing an amazing job, and it really shows in the numbers: almost 80k subscribers by the start of this year and a little shy of 10 times as much by the end of it. After watching summoningsalt's speedrun histories, it seems the subdued immediate reaction is somewhat common. Quite unlike me when I get gold on any track...
Probably because at high level gaming, there is a high need of staying calm and keep focus. If you get angry, frustrated, or else, you tend to be more likely to make mistakes (which can make the game even more frustrating etc..) Pro player are usually calm when they play, it seems reliable to me that they also would be pretty calm when they succeed (since they are used to suppress emotions anyway). Also there is the fatigue factor, the mad lad has been at it for almost a 3 whole days marathon rush at the end.

Hefest’s string of records in less than a week is crazy impressive, most other top level players spend a week or more just to get one, he got several in just a few days
In fairness, many of those other top level players probably spent time finding tricks/shortcuts for a map. Hefest could copy these shortcuts when they were discovered, only leaving the execution. Which is, of course, the biggest test of skill in the end. But it does put the weeks vs days thing in perspective. Apples and oranges, I suppose?
Yeah, he's the true God, he'll beat a record, and then someone else spends weeks to beat it again, then he just comes back and goes "not good enough" what a legend
@@matnar0285 think. Hefest is a type of player copying all other players' skills then he practices those moves without exploring new tricks to improve speed. it is called " copy player " in my opinion and I never like that type of player even if he holds WR.

Damn, at the beginning of the video, I thought it would be just a random suggestion and I skipped the 2 first minutes and then, I started watching all the video without skipping one second and each time you broke the record, I was so happy and each time you're record was beaten, I was angry at Helfest (xD) and at the "final stage" of the video and when you got the record locked, I was almost crying no joke because it is a true proof that every thing that we want to do in our life, we can do when you keep trying and retrying and ... Just the most beautiful video I watched of all time.

This was a sports film including the training montage as you reset the engine off skip a 100 times to analyze the results of the air brake. Hefest is less a villain than a looming motivation to never take things for granted and instead look in all areas to improve. Great work!

That's how the world works, doesn't matter if Coca Cola or Pepsi came first, or which one improved over the years. Both need to do their best, find ways to improve and look at the other one. Otherwise neither would be as good as they are today.

Hefest seems like a player that (usually) doesn't find unique tricks himself but is a master at perfecting someone else's exploit(s). Even if Wirtual discovered the airbrake trick many days prior it would have been in his best interest to delay using it in hopes that there will not be enough time for Hefest to practice it. It's risky af either way.
it makes for a dynamic ecosystem of record-building though. Wirtual-types discover many tricks, and Hefest-types perfect the timesaving capability of those tricks. There is immense value in both of these types of players for driving TM records forward.

After watching summoningsalt's speedrun histories, it seems the subdued immediate reaction is somewhat common. Quite unlike me when I get gold on any track...
I mean you must be so tired after grinding so much that you feel relief more than explosive joy.
Probably because at high level gaming, there is a high need of staying calm and keep focus. If you get angry, frustrated, or else, you tend to be more likely to make mistakes (which can make the game even more frustrating etc..)
Pro player are usually calm when they play, it seems reliable to me that they also would be pretty calm when they succeed (since they are used to suppress emotions anyway).
Also there is the fatigue factor, the mad lad has been at it for almost a 3 whole days marathon rush at the end.

Hefest’s string of records in less than a week is crazy impressive, most other top level players spend a week or more just to get one, he got several in just a few days
In fairness, many of those other top level players probably spent time finding tricks/shortcuts for a map. Hefest could copy these shortcuts when they were discovered, only leaving the execution.
Which is, of course, the biggest test of skill in the end. But it does put the weeks vs days thing in perspective. Apples and oranges, I suppose?

@@matnar0285 think. Hefest is a type of player copying all other players' skills then he practices those moves without exploring new tricks to improve speed. it is called " copy player " in my opinion and I never like that type of player even if he holds WR.

Damn, at the beginning of the video, I thought it would be just a random suggestion and I skipped the 2 first minutes and then, I started watching all the video without skipping one second and each time you broke the record, I was so happy and each time you're record was beaten, I was angry at Helfest (xD) and at the "final stage" of the video and when you got the record locked, I was almost crying no joke because it is a true proof that every thing that we want to do in our life, we can do when you keep trying and retrying and ... Just the most beautiful video I watched of all time.

This was a sports film including the training montage as you reset the engine off skip a 100 times to analyze the results of the air brake. Hefest is less a villain than a looming motivation to never take things for granted and instead look in all areas to improve. Great work!
