The Hyatt on Sunset was once home to Little Richard. He spent many years living in hotels because he didn't have to pay for lawn care, or maintenance. He had daily housekeeping and room service.
Yep, they all went in for champagne, caviar and canoodling - and left with the clap, syphilis and a rap sheet! First time I've seen your great new intro, J. Love it.
I just found your vlog over my morning coffee and I subscribed ! I'm a California girl and have always been interested in the history ! You are a true historian, thank you so much for sharing !
I agree with Mary Mathews, this was a fascinating vlog, Jordan! You choose the most interesting and diverse topics, and they are always so enjoyable. I love both the L.A. area vlogs and the foreign vlogs. My friend just returned from Italy and had been to Capri and other places you visited. I felt that I had been there, too! Thank you, as always, for all you do for your subscribers.
Wow, that building really does scream old Hollywood! It's a very beautiful building. You show us so many interesting places, just think how many people drive by these buildings every day and have no idea of the history... they should be watching your vlogs to find out what goes on there in LA! You're so great at telling the story! Thanks and have a good day Jordan and Jah!
@@citizen1163 I know, just imagine the stories from these places, the stars had their own exclusive clubs that they would hang out in, so interesting! I think it's definitely a thing of the past Pamla, the stars of today just don't compare to the old Hollywood movie stars who had so much mystique and glamour.... I love hearing the history of these old buildings and of all the stars! Jordan does such a great job of telling these stories! Have a good day!
@@sanctuaryrain2010 me too! Every building has a story, I always wonder when you drive by abandoned places, what's it's story... who lived there? I especially love old Hollywood and celebrity stuff so this is such a treat when Jordan vlogs places in LA that we may have heard of but will probably never see, really fun!
Good morning Jordan! What a beautiful building you would never expect a history like that! If those walls could talk! Very ironic that Miramax owned or still owns it! Too funny, Thanks for sharing Jordan!
If only we could be a ‘fly ‘ on the wall lol !! Isn’t that the way? You find out who your friends are when times are bad. Beautiful building though. Camp Sunset looks like a great place!
Great vlog about the old Hollywood. Love hearing about the old buildings and things that took place with old Hollywood. A few years ago a friend of mine wanted me to take a trip with him to California to check out the Sunset Blvd and some of the burials of famous people. The problem was that he did not let me know in far advance about making a trip like that and I could not go with him. I would have loved to check out Sunset strip and all. I used to watch on the old network called BIO which is owned by A&E some of the Ghost shows or things that have happened to people who lived in a apartment building for actors, writers, or other people who were trying to make it in the film industry on ghosts in that building. I cannot remember the name of the place. I think it was like a apartment building where you paid by the week or how many days you stay there. It really was interesting.
Then as now, West Hollywood was policed by the L.A. County Sheriff's Dept. not the Los Angeles Police Department. As corrupt as LAPD was the Sheriff's Department was worse. Allegedly some of Francis' most frequent customers were ranking law enforcement officials from all over LA.
Another excellent vlog Jordan! You always seem to uncover some of the most interesting things that come out of Hollywood. Just love your channel, keep up doing what you're doing-you're a champ! Your sidekick Jah is just precious
Oh my!, if walls could talk eh? Gee, Jah looks so sweetly at you with his big brown eyes when you talk to him. Always love seeing him, yay Jah!!! Hmmm bet that madam's book is hard to find but I"ll try. Stay cool😎
Most interesting vlog if only those walls could talk lol . Looking forward to the vlog on that building you showed. As always thank you have a great weekend with the Jahster
This was very interesting Jordan. I love old Hollywood history. Buildings constructed in the late Victorian to 1920's have such beautiful architecture, inside and out. I wonder what happened in 1940 that caused the police to decide to arrest her. This was still a very early time in Hollywood. Thanks for the video!
I'm not sure of dates and timing, but I suspect there was an election and power changed hands among the men who ran the district attorney's office downtown. The studio bosses backed Buron Fitts for years and he lost an election around this time to "Honest John" Dockweiler, who had received only a token donation to his campaign coffers from the moguls. Maybe Lee Francis didn't make the right payoff to the right people and it was time to put the screws on. Errol Flynn suggested this dynamic was behind his famous "rape" trial (1943) in his memoir, "My Wicked Wicked Ways."
Just discovered your VLOGs! These are great! I can't stop at just one. Through you, I can see all of that cool Hollywood architecture and landscape! Thank you for all the info too! Last but not least! LOVE Jah!
I've learned so much through your videos, Jordan. This one was fascinating too. Lovely building and there's lots more dark history to find out about it, I'll bet. Thanks for the video!
Great glasses. Interesting vlog. Back in the days where they kept what the stars did private and not splashed all over the place. It is a beautiful building. Coffee sounds good. Thank for this vlog. Can't wait to see where we go tomorrow. You and Jah take care.
I had lunch at the Saddle Ranch a few years ago. It wasn't that crowded. There was a table in the middle of the dining room filled with about 10 men dressed as cowboys. On further inspection we realized they were all cowboy character actors from back in the day having lunch together. It was pretty cool.
Ohhh...snickerdoodle. lol. Very interesting story about the brothel. I'll have to look for her book. Thanks, another book for me to get and try and find time to read. 2 kids under 7, it's hard. 🤣 Have a great day
What a fascinating vlog this was, Jordan, with all the elements for sure. I am very impressed with the research and knowledge you put into your work. Thank you and have a fabulous weekend with sweet Jah.
Awesome vlog as always, and you are very welcome Jordan! And i love that you pronounced my name correctly, people are always saying it wrong. Kiss Jah for me!
snazzy sunglasses, I sometimes wonder if people know the history of the places they own.Jah's expressions say it all. Another wonderful vlog with a juicy history. Tyvm Jordan
Another walk down memory lane! We stayed at the hotel right across the street from Carney's. Also had dinner at Mel's dinner, just down the block. Thanks Jordan!
Fascinating vlog! Beautiful architectural features on that building. I would absolutely freak if I ever looked up and the delivery man was Jordan the Lion!
What a fabulous story!!! Go figure Miramax was in there. I love the history of Hollywood and the stars. Interesting about Jean Harlow. The architecture of the building is wonderful. Polly Anna always tires Jah out and he has to recoup. 😂😂😂. It would be cool to take him to the doggy daycare. Thank you Jordan for another fantastic vlog. Much love to you and Jah ❤
A beautiful building with a very interesting history. I'm sure all those ladies can tell very interesting stories. I wonder if any of them are still alive. Jah had too much of a good time with his girlfriend. Lol peace to you
Great vlog! Have you ever read the Garden of Allah books by Martin Turnbull? They take place in the golden age of Hollywood. The first one starts out in the 1930s and the time progresses in the following books.
💋Loved this VLOG too! Ok are u ever going to make a vlog I don't like lol! I don't think that is going to happen. I can really see the Jack Russell in Jah especially in his eyes. I had a beloved J.R. named Jaxx, I had to have him put down because he was in complete renal failure. This has been several years ago. I had a funeral and burial for him. It was beautiful. Anyway I celebrate the precious life he had and the joy he brought to me and others. Was not expecting to share that. But that close up of Jah's eyes in the beginning. Thank you for being you. Blessings to u and your fur baby. Love and Light 💖Carli
when it was built in 1927 it was the Hacienda Park Apartments, and the area had the same name, before it was the Strip. In 1935 there was a sensational murder there.
Fancis reminds me of Norma Wallace who was a madem in the french quarters back in the early days. Shes got a book written about her called The Last Madem.
I once stayed in the hotel at 8400 Sunset. Back in '89 Sunset tattoo was on the corner ( may still be there, I don't know). From our room, we could see people in there. Pretty sure we saw GNR guys in there at the time. Spent NYE 1990 at Gazzarris night club. Saw Sam Kinison, Ron Jeremy, Jani Lane, the Bullet boys and Pauly Shore there that night.
Now that was interesting, googled the building to see if any pic's existed of the inside, no success yet. Jah, lol it had been awhile since he'd had a date with Pollyanna, so no wonder he wasn't ready to leave. Hope yall had a fun afternoon!
That does look like a great space...maybe great paranormal site. Probably a torture chamber underground,..ritual room. I strongly suggest not looking into The Standard...very closely.
I would just like to say it is awesome that someone as young as you is passionate about history.
I love learning about all the old Hollywood stories and you do them so well. Thanks!!!
The Hyatt on Sunset was once home to Little Richard. He spent many years living in hotels because he didn't have to pay for lawn care, or maintenance. He had daily housekeeping and room service.
I appreciate the history that you tell . The good and the bad. I always learn so much. And the architecture is so classic and beautiful.
“Entertainment around every corner” Great tagline for Hollywood
Yep, they all went in for champagne, caviar and canoodling - and left with the clap, syphilis and a rap sheet! First time I've seen your great new intro, J. Love it.
It is a magnificent building! And what a scandalous history! I always enjoy your walkabouts and extra bits of neighbourhood chat.
Always awesome to start a Saturday with a cool video from Jordan.
The history of this beautiful building is sorted but interesting. I’m glad Jah and Pollyanna have such a good time together.
He had a great time

Interesting glimpse into historic Hollywood vice - I'm sure it was rife in the 1920s. That's a beautiful building - looks like an old Italian palazzo.

Penny Gee I agree with you. Now days so many people don't care a thing about history. I can't get enough of it!

That city has endless things to see. I really enjoy your vlogs and Jah.
There is something so special about you vloging around Hollywood and seeing all the places clebs have been. Great vlog. Thank you Jordan.
Another real interesting vlog Jordan. The history of old time Hollywood is endlessly fascinating. Thank you for telling us this story.
Good morning Jordan! What a beautiful building you would never expect a history like that! If those walls could talk! Very ironic that Miramax owned or still owns it! Too funny, Thanks for sharing Jordan!
I was there many times. The ladies were lovely. I was sad when the brothel was shut down. The ladies really cared and listened to you.
Oh go on!!!
You must be 100 years old *_?!_* 😨
I am finally coming back to LA for a visit after eight years away! I have to check this place out. I knew nothing about this beautiful place!
If only we could be a ‘fly ‘ on the wall lol !! Isn’t that the way? You find out who your friends are when times are bad. Beautiful building though. Camp Sunset looks like a great place!

Loved the black glasses, they remind me of something out of the "whip it" music video. 😍👍💚
I love the history of Hollywood. Have learned so much from you that I had no idea was going on. Thank you!
I used to work in this building. Never knew the history. So cool!
The truth is sometimes stranger than fiction.

Great vlog Jordan....I always enjoy the history of Hollywood.
My dad told me my grandfather told him about this place. My grandfather worked in the studio system as a painter for many years.
Excellent work, Jordan. Now I have to make a bucket list. 😉

lol yes the irony of Miramax being there.
Another walk down memory lane! We stayed at the hotel right across the street from Carney's. Also had dinner at Mel's dinner, just down the block. Thanks Jordan!

Wow!!! I pass by that building all the time!!! Had no idea!!! Cool!!! 😎
Wow so interesting! Gonna have to check out the book now. What a great way to start my Saturday. Great day to you and Jah!
I wonder if her husband knew about this. He committed suicide in their house. Jay Sebring ended up living in it.
Fascinating vlog! Beautiful architectural features on that building. I would absolutely freak if I ever looked up and the delivery man was Jordan the Lion!
Haha, nobody seemed impressed then!
I been waiting since I got up at 6:30 for your upload. YAY ! Thanks Jordan !

DazzlingChick hope you got another one.
Very interesting story, all that stuff that went on, just crazy. Thanks for sharing this Jordan.
That is ironic about Miramax pictures having their headquarters in a formal brothel. For an "unplanned vlog" that was interesting. Thanks Jordan.
Good stuff Jordan. You always teach me about my birthplace and current residence. Cheers.
What a history! Of course no one would help her. Sad but who would want to end up like her.
They've been putting out conflicting stories about Harlow for years...Was she an innocent victim of the Hollywood machine or a willing participant?
Jordan, love your vlogs. Fascinating as always! Thanks!

Cool building! Interesting story. I did not know about this
A older friend told me that this house of ill repute had women who looked like famous stars and were known for that.
L.A confidential was based on this
