POSITION PLAYER
For the next few columns, Andy Timmons presents his song “Ghost of You,” which he recorded with the Andy Timmons Band for their 2006 album, Resolution. This proved to be a very pivotal record for him, as it marked a point when he really began digging into “tone questing,” and it was also the first record where he did not include any overdubs. There’s just one guitar, backed by bass and drums throughout the entire record. It proved to be a transitional turning point for him because this is how he's since recorded every album.

My own guitar idol will forever be Satch. But AT is just another master of melodic composition for rock guitar along with crazy tasteful chops and glorious tone. And just like Joe, I can personally attest that Andy is the most humble, friendly, easy going human rock god around having had the pleasure of watching then just hanging out with Andy in Hong Kong a few years ago. Such a beautiful player and equally beautiful human being.
Equally true side story: my buddy who was there with me that night ended up buying the exact Mesa Lonestar 50 head and cab that Andy used for that HK gig. XD
