The way he builds this song through melody and tasteful playing over a fairly simple chord progression using chord tones is a great lesson.
What I like about Timmons is that his great mastery and skills never get in the way of the goal: creating beautiful melody lines and meaningful, emotional songs.
Why should they get in the way?
@@martinpaddlea lot of people (and I'm guilty of this) is when you have a lot of technique at your disposal tend to show off and overplaying instead of playing for the song
Andy is like Eddie in that he doesn't just slam you with fancy technique, but instead uses his mastery to create great songs you want to hear over and over.
Electric Gypsy is so stunning and this is my favorite rendition. The opening bass solo is just as sublime!

This is a great example of how much of an effect timing has, it sounds so organic (for lack of a better word).

This is like a U2 song, few guitar virtuosos can actually write and maintain that brilliant pop sound and give the listener something to hold on to, love and sing

Funny how exactly 2 days ago i thought about this Live and wanted to request a transcription. One of my top favourite live performances ever. Also, Mike Daane's Bass solo in the beginning of the original video is absolutely beautiful. The solo he plays is called "Elizabeth", written for his wife, go give it a listen on his channel.
