I totally agree, a lot of accomplished artists always play weird gibberish solos and not many people enjoy it.
One time, back in about 1985, Andy was playing his guitar on Fry Street, Denton Tx... Fry St. Fair, I think.. I went up to him & asked if he could play "Hello It's Me" by Todd Rundgren..He said "Ummm..I think it's like..."..Then he played the first minute or so. with all those 7th chords....Great memories. Great guitarist.Way back then, around NTSU, everyone knew that Andy would go as far as he wants to go. Always a very nice guy too!!

Its so FAT, and JUICY.....those are just the adjectives that come to mind when I think of that tone. I would call it a form of 'brownsound', but very much with it's own character and not as 'off the rails' as EVH.
