    5:16 Even with these being *closed back*, the soundstage is so open that it sounds like a *closed back* headphone.

      Gamesky *Just picked these up based on all the positive reviews. Much love from beautiful Bangor, Maine where auto insurance is the lowest in the entire nation, home prices are still the lowest in the northeast and recreational marijuana is legal for all to enjoy. Happy listening from BANGOR, MAINE.*

    2:56 - I really enjoy headphones that allow my ears to move around! Nothing worse than ears that are restricted in movement. When I come home from work, I like to put my ears up and enjoy a nice cup of tea and relax. And when I sleep, I like to be able to stretch out my ears. When I listen to music, I like my ears to be able to dance and even mosh and when listening to a decent guitar lead break, my ears just wanna have the space to play air-guitar!

    If I was looking for a new pair of headphones these would probably be them. I'm an avid music listener or sometimes what I call an audiophile on a budget. I listen on my cell phone, but mostly from my computer. I like an accurate balanced sound without boomy bass. I've been using my pair of Bose TP-1a for about 8 years and I love the sound I get from these. I still like to see what else is out there.

    its called 598 CS because its a closed back version of the 598 (the CS stands for closed)

    • @OfficialGamesky
      @OfficialGamesky  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      i get why it's called that, they just don't share any of the same characteristics at all. so I found it odd to give it the same number

    • @thatfellarosto
      @thatfellarosto 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sennheisers headphones are numbered by the headphones design not the function, additional letters in the name represent what version of the headphones they are (for example the 598 SE is the special edition)

    • @OfficialGamesky
      @OfficialGamesky  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rosto what I'm getting at is like the 4.30, 4.40 and 4.50 are all numbered differently yet are all designed the exact same way. Each offer something different yet are the same headphone design.

    • @thatfellarosto

    I have an android htc phone with android 7, and the button works for me, with my choice app for music poweramp, a single press pauses and plays, a double press skips to next track, and triple press plays previous track. You might have to go into that apps settings for those button press setup. Spotify does pause with a single press, a double press skips to next track.

    Hi there!
    I have recently bought the Sennheiser HD 4.40 BT, and the earcups cannot cover my ears thoroughly (the lobe and part of the helix). Despite this, I was using them for a few days, and I really love its sound quality, although I have to adjust them too often in order to get more comfort and relax my ears (they hurts sometimes).
    I think my head is a little big for them, and I was thinking in returning my HD 4.40 BT and get the 598 Cs.
    I understand these are not wireless, but what do you reccomend to me? Should I change them?
    Regards!

    Review for 598HD
    Everyone says that we need to do mod for ( having more bass to change the sound quality ). I would say if you don't like the sound signature of the Sennheiser headphones. And you are keeping it in a shelf for a really long time OR ready to throw it away now itslef after realizing it's not that really worth for that much of hype they have given through reviews, comments., Etc. Give it a last chance to try after remove all the white coloured papers on the outer diaphragm. Which means usually to damp the sound they will use the white coloured paper above the transducer or driver except the cone area. So what we have to do is. We have to remove the white coloured paper which is pasted over the diaphragm. Once you did on the both side(left and right ) of the headphone. Those who complaint there is lack of bass. They will come to know to enjoy the music we no need to have that much of bass. where usually all the other headphones have.( take note , am also enjoy the amount of bass which is produced by JBL speakers/subs, which usually can achieve 34hz frequency range ). And you can see how there is an increase in spatial cue's / It produce a bit of more environmental sound, means you can feel the atmosphere changing when the actors moving from one room to another room ( though don't expect too much as surround sound effects ). Though sound is subjective, I think you can try it before give it up. Last but not least it will change the sound signature to somewhat enjoyable. I get to try this option, because I saw a TH-cam video where they go through the industrial visit of Sennheiser company in Germany. There they are actually testing the dynamic capability of all there transducer to produce the required frequency / sound signature "with the entire driver, not just with the cone exposed". If it works for at least one person am very happy. Enjoy guys.... ( th-cam.com/users/shorts_6-FCbFj9tI?feature=share ).

    Thumbs up bro for the mere fact that you mentioned the impedance. I think you sold me on these headphones. Like you said, so many headphones have high impedance which makes the volume quite low. great vid, do u know if u the mic works with ps4? Also how does the sound compare to the turtle beach 800s for gaming?

    • @OfficialGamesky
      @OfficialGamesky  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ali Imran yes it does. The 800 has more life to its sound due to them being amplified so obviously the Sennheiser won't have as much punch to them as the 800s. It would be close but because of the TB's being wireless, having surround sound and a great mic it would be hard to pass up all of that. Although the Sennheiser sounds amazing and is a third of the price

    Are they better sounding than the momentum 2.0 WIRELESS when wired or are they exactly the same sounding

    amazing review! i have a question if i dont mind. I have never tried a high end headphone before and id just like to know whether listening to a more 'flat' headphones are better than ones that put more emphasis on bass. i know the ath-m50x are good for like monitoring but im unsure whether it would be good for gaming because people say its really 'flat'. id really like your opinion on this. thanks.

    • @OfficialGamesky
      @OfficialGamesky  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      thanks so much. the M50X are not actually flat, they have pretty punchy bass. headphones like the Sennheiser give you a more open feel in your games so it actually feels more realistic. if you play in a room by yourself you would be amazed at how an open back pair of headphones sound. but these and the Audio Technica are great for gaming. to be honest, my favorite gaming experience is with my Philips SHP9500 and I use my V-Moda Boompro mic

      I've had mine now for right at a year. I had the same concern, but these cans are tough. They definitely feel better, and are much more sturdy than they look. I've got the 579s, 6xx, and these. I love all of them, but I've ended up using these much more than I thought. Definitely a Very good value for the money, and I would've had no problem paying the full price. The 598's are a 9/10 in my book. Best your way ✌️

    Hey Gamesky. So overall, if you compared the two, do you prefer the sound quality of the 598cs over the sound quality of the HD 4.30? Or vise versa? I already have the 4.30, but your review of these now have me interested.
    Great review btw.

    • @OfficialGamesky
      @OfficialGamesky  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ChoppaCity27 hard to say honestly. I like them both alot....but they are both two different types of headphones. I feel like the 4.30 is more portable and fun where the 598 is more accurate and sound absolutely mind blowing with an amp.

    • @ChoppaCity27
      @ChoppaCity27 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gamesky ah ok, gotcha. Although I love my bass as much as the next guy, there are times when I prefer a more accurate sound. Kind of a headphone enthusiast as well so I'll probably end up picking these up too lol. Can't beat the price that they're currently going for either. Thanks for the reply man

      Gamesky Hey Gamesky. Me again. So I'm just about ready to pull the trigger on these, but every time I decide I'm going to, the M40x comes to mind. Have you had any experience with the M40x's? And if so, which cans would you prefer the most between the M40x's and these?

    • @lymai3951
      @lymai3951 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ChoppaCity27 I own the M40x, and they are legit tuned to be studio monitors, so pretty flat. I have compared these to the M50x, and the latter have a slightly warmer sound than the M40x, which are said to be the better value of the M-series. However, I cannot vouch for the HD 598 Cs, as I do not own them or ever tested them. Hope this helps :)

    Hi,got down to 2 choices,which is better the SENNHEISER MOMENTUM 2.0 AROUND EAR AEI or the AUDIO TECHNICA ATH-M50X, I put the list of all the music I like in the questions you asked me down below
    Really appreciate if you can get back to me please,( I also think the word Audio file sounds creepy )

      +Ken Purchase I would definitely go out with the Momentum 2.0. The M40X are actually better than the M50X if you're thinking about buying Audio Technica

    At first i hated these, they where too tight, muddy and lacked detail but i gave then a solid week and now they are some of the best headphones I've owned. Ive tried on better but these are incredible for the price. Highly recommend these over most other closed back headphones now. Also they are extremely nice for gaming.

    • @OfficialGamesky
      @OfficialGamesky  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +burns0100 completely agree. People that say "burn in" is not a thing on headphones are completely wrong

    • @JohnSmith-oe4bw
      @JohnSmith-oe4bw 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did the treble open up? - I gave them a listen for about 3 weeks (around 30-40 hrs of listening/burn in), and the treble never opened up. They STILL sounded congested with bumped up high mids. No air/detail, with resonant upper mids. I listen to a lot of metal, and these 598Cs's were some of the worst I've heard for metal. Resonant frequencies around 2.5k were very ugly. I also love pop, and clean electronic music. The congestion and lack of air killed it for me. I returned mine. In comparison, the ATH-M40x's or Sony MDR-7506's have a better value/sound and can be had for under $80 on amazon. How long did you burn these in, before the sound got better?

    • @OfficialGamesky
      @OfficialGamesky  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      i had around 30hrs in mine and they opened up nicely. what are you using them on? I listen to alot of metal as well and these sounded great. I am not a big fan of the 7506 because of there lack of low end but I do like the M40X and I think the Sennheiser sounded better. but we all have different taste I guess

    • @JohnSmith-oe4bw
      @JohnSmith-oe4bw 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used them with Fiio X3 v2, Note5, and PC set up (RME Fireface 800 DAC/Monitor, & Mackie Big Knob amp) - I'm not a firm believer in burn in, and think its more a psycho acoustic thing where your ears adjust to the EQ/Signature of the headphone rather than the headphone drivers changing. I do thiink that they "break in" but I don't think that makes a DRASTIC effect on the sound. Maybe just loosens them up, and a more relaxed effect. Thta's why I'm surprised if the treble on the 598Cs could open up THAT much. - I agree that people have different tastes and/or natural hearing curves. EQ wise, I personally like a crisp and detailed high end (3-5db shelf boost at 4-5khz, as well as punchy bass (boost at 50-75hz, a little scoop at around 125-250hz, and another dip on the honk area of 700-800hz). - I find the bass on the 7506 to be punchy (if a little light), and on the m40x its has more volume, but less lean, and slightly more boomy. Both of those headphones, the treble is very present and very clear.

    • @burns0100
      @burns0100 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I let mine burn in for about 50 hours over a course of one week to the genre of music a listen to, i run them raw on an iPhone 7 or on my Mac, using either standard mp3 320 or flac files. Honestly with most of Sennheisers headphones below the HD600 models i find Amps/Dacs pointless and much rather just stick with a good sound file and burn in. For me they have opened up a lot, not as much as a open back pair, the bass got tighter and the mids stayed the same, sometimes they are harsh but thats probably due to the specific curve these headphones have, very much like a W at times.
      Again as you mentioned if does come down to taste, preference and how a persons own hearing works.

      I have both... M50 @ home, 598cs @ work. So I literally listen to BOTH daily for about a year. Both are running off an ES100 amp. The sound, especially bass, in the M50 just beats it out by staying cleaner, better composed under power. At lower volumes, it's pretty even for the most part. The 598cs is lighter in weight though, so it sort of evens them out.
