- Well… the unimaginable has happened. It's the same song that I shared in a blog post a couple weeks ago and pretty much the same music video. Only now, I'm not the only one singing it. Someone else is singing with me...

"When my wife Joey passed away in 2016, her friend Sandy was angry. And more than a little frustrated in the outcome of all the chemo and radiation that Joey was put through and also the outcome of all the prayers Joey and millions of other people prayed on her behalf. And as great writers do, she put that frustration down in a song. "Country music," Harlan Howard used to say is “Three chords and truth.” And I think it is, even when the truth hurts.
A year or so after Joey passed away, Sandy sent me a song in an email that just said, “...I had to get this song out of me to come to peace with the loss of my friend.” I've listened to the song a hundred times since then. And I understand her feelings. Although I think I fall on the side of gratitude most of the time, I have had moments of frustration that only leave me with more questions.
This fall when I decided to make a new album, the song Sandy emailed me was the first song we chose to record. In some ways, it was also the hardest. It said some very tough things. Some honest things that I believe it's okay to be human and feel, and maybe even important to share with others.
A few weeks ago, Sandy’s husband Jack saddled his horse and came and paid his respects to my pretty bride as the sun set and the sandhill crane's made their yearly trip through the skies overhead. Back to where something inside them is calling them to be.

Lost my wife today may13,2023 ,not to cancer but to dementia exasperated by a head injury in a car accident she was a passenger in. Five days short of a year since the wreck. Dementia is a terrible disease. So tonight I know one angel knows my name.😢

I just got thru Marvin and Venell Morrow they were such a blessing I was so down Joey how happy she was she knew that her mommy loved her the love that Joey has for Indy the love Joey has for you can never be replace one time when she was holding Indy she started Praying and thanked God for her.but I know where Joey is she is with. I think the whole world cried when we lost Joey. She truly had the voice of an angel. I love seeing updates on you and lil Indy. I lost my mother, grandfather, aunt, couple of uncles, and mother in law to cancer. It sucks. this song provided some comfort in a sense. thank you Rory

I know I truthfully understand this demon called Cancer as I took care of Daddy until he left and went to heaven ,my mother,both my Grandmother's my best girlfriend since a child so many in my life 💔 and me I never stop missing them ,you sure handle it better than I even do this very day,I am sad she had to leave so soon but your little girl has the same heart ❤ as her beautiful mother

I lost a 4 year old daughter to brain cancer. They wanted to do more experimental drugs but we said that was enough. We brought her home n 5 days later she passed. But she's in heaven with Jesus.

Rory, I am sorry for your loss! I am53years old I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Rectal Cancer on 10/10/2019 and it has been a long battle Joey is my favorite singer she is one of the bravest people I have ever seen. I'm fighting everyday I have my daughter and granddaughter and my husband and family for support you have to have support from family and friends to really stay strong through fighting this disease .
You are in my prayers and I will continue to listen to you and Joey..
I lost my wife Tammy this past December and all of sudden while I was having trouble dealing with her dying videos of Joey started showing up and that when I found out Joey also died from cancer and she helped me so much to get thru this time.. thank you Joey and Rory.

I don't understand how painful it is for you for your child to be taken so soon. Your in Our prayers. I was so very angrier at God for my loss of my love ones since I didn't understand why at first. I had to release my anger because it was infecting me being the good Mom to my Kid's, being a Sister, Girlfriend and friend. I loss my boyfriend 28yrs ago I know that was very hard on me. Since then My Mom passed away suddenly then 3yrs later my Dad he had Alzheimers and other painful things. It's so very difficult to watch him suffer for 6yrs. I would have done anything for my Dad not to suffer so much. Then 2yrs after Dad my oldest sister Theresa passed she had brain tumors,strokes,and other health problems for 39yrs. You never see her down about her life she was so supportive to me and everyone around her. She gave us all her most Beautiful smile and laugh right before she passed. I truly miss each one of my Love ones. I know they are mine and my family Angel's watching over us. When I became disabled I kept telling myself to live my life like my big Sissy and it's has helped me through all the surgeries and other major health problems. I would do anything to have them back with us. Then I say to myself that I wouldn't want all their suffering all over again. Someday You & I will see Our love ones one day.

In the small town I live so many have passed from this cruel disease that has no pity and does not discriminate. Thank You for this tribute. I know I cried.
My mom died to cancer and it was the hardest thing I’ve every had to deal with. She held on long enough for me to get to the hospital before she passing. She only lived 3 months with cancer and I thank God. I have seen people suffer so much longer.

Jill, sorry for the loss of your brother. I lost my husband of 33 yrs to pancreatic cancer. He was 56. Cancer is a cruel disease and how they suffer and linger. It's heartbreaking seeing your loved one go through this. Jesus suffered for us and our loved ones are healed now. I push through but at times still have my angry moments. It will always come in waves! Tomorrow will be 3 yrs . I pray for everyone on these posts who's lost loved ones to cancer .

I know we’re just passing thru this ol world and she’s just changed “locations.” Before she went home, she told me she could see her mother, and daddy, and sister, waving at her. Glad Dolly's singing your song with you. You sang this before and I just loved it but Omg with Dolly's voice singing it with you it just rips every tear out of your body. We miss her too. So badly. If this doesn't get an award next year then there's a huge problem because it's Amazing.

Joeys hymns are what we played for mom when she was passing that recorded played for a week straight. She passed on Jan 3rd 2020 to stage 4 lung cancer. I was by her side everyday. I Miss her everyday.

Even the sky showed it’s love of this song. The scene in the spot where Joey rests was breathtaking. The golden hour light. Just as the gentleman mounts his horse to go, a shot at the sky behind him shows what struck me as the wings of an angel! Dolly lending her voice was such a gesture of love. Just beautiful. I’m not well, my heart is failing with no cure. I listen to Joey, I find that her voice is soothing to my soul. I lost both of my parents to cancer. I left my job as an ICU nurse and became a hospice nurse. Precious time was their last days. Just to know Jesus Christ our lord and savior will be waiting.
I do not know you nor you know me but my mother when she lost my sister used to work in the ICU then she went on to become a hospice nurse until the day she took her final breath here upon this earth. Thank you for what you have done. Your an angel just like she was.
