At first watching the 'going for the neck/throat' technique I thought of the possible crushing injury upon the attacker's windpipe as an issue. Reminded myself that's preferable than the probability of the attacker doing serious injury to me. That's why I'm learning from this presentation to begin with.

enjoy the kubotan. Been carrying the same one with me since late 80's. And to my credit have never had to use it once in a real situation.

In some states this weapon is illegal. But in all 50 states holding a #2 pencil, with a sharp tip, is legal so practice kubotan and yawara bar techniques...they're good for you👍🐵

I have a black colored aluminum kubaton. I added a key ring to one end so that I can easily grab and deploy it from my convenient hiding spot on the front of my body. I'll place my thumb in the key ring as I hold the kubaton in an "ice pick grip". Pain is a great motivator and deterrent. 😏👍

You can use a fat marking pen, a toothbrush, or a mini maglite.

You should teach them to break fall too .

Yes. We breakfall practice every day (in eight ways), but we also do classes where people land like a normal person would, to access different outcomes of the fight and different finishes and pins.

Finally a video using the front tip not the back end in a downward knife style watch I don’t like. Must prefer to us it like a bosiken.lol

The grip does have a name, in Japanese it’s called “ Kowareta koyubi”

Why they fall at first? Do they have some motion problem? Or they don't want to walk backward?

    • @thedojomartialarts
      @thedojomartialarts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Their balance is broken from the stick in their throat and pressure backwards. You can't walk backward when the spine is bent.

The technique illustrated is excellent. However, there is no discussion in the video or the description (probably the right place for it) about the possible legal implications of using any of this in self defense. Finally, while I'm certain the instructors are confident that that the younger students shown are mature enough for such a dangerous set of maneuvers, I would be cautions about the age at which to start teaching such techniques.

No chamigo, la verdad que son al pedo estas tecnicas.
La posta es usarlo como si tu mano fuese un martillo, o combinarlo con boxeo.

Sensei stopped wearing his black belts almost 20 years ago. A personal choice he says keeps the ego humble.

I wanna beleive but i can't its all cool black robes and compliant training 😢

    • @thedojomartialarts

Haha. Some people say that, until they actually come and train. Then the pain hits, their eyes light up in shock and they finally understand the reality of Budo..and many end up leaving their other arts to join. Compliance is necessary for beginners. But full resistance is practiced literally every day in any good dojo. Take a week off and come and practice with us. Anyone is most welcome.
