I get tired of people say (you are not a doctor), like doctors know nutrition. It is an elective course in med school. The best info is testimonies from those who experiment and share their experiences. It is up to us individually to apply what works best for us. So haters stop hating. Bye the way, she is beautiful.

@Golden Knight Your diet doesn't include vitamin A AND DHA. meat has all the fat soluble vitamins and the fat to digest them. You call them retards. But you think a diet that requires supplements is the best diet. Don't even say that veganism doesn't require supplements because not even vegan gains will back you up on that one. I've been on carnivore for about 3 months now (after almost a year of low carb / keto), and I'm really stuck by how similar everyone's experiences are. I do know some people who didn't do well on it and couldn't make it past a week, but for people who pass that hurdle, the reports are amazingly similar, in specific ways:
    - Curious, not planning to make it a long term thing (1 month experiment in my case), but when you're into it you really don't want to give up on the benefits.
    - Sleep improves.
    - Mood improves (better emotional resilience, calmer, improved ability to focus).
    - Some fat loss (I was weight stable on keto at 17% body fat, now 14-15% on carnivore, happened very quickly).
    - Put on some muscle, and my joints feel like they can handle more load safely.
    - More energy, I feel like exercising now, so I do (lost all my weight on keto deliberately not exercising to avoid confounding the effects with exercise).
    - Really severe reactions when certain plants are re-introduced, even when they weren't an issue before (although I wonder if I wasn't reacting to them all along and just not noticing because it was a constant background thing).
    - I don't suffer from any autoimmune conditions thankfully, so I wasn't able to confirm that it helps with those.
    - Had to up my salt intake a lot (heavily salting meals and taking 3.5 - 5 g of additional salt in water daily).
    - Don't get nearly as bored of just eating animal products as I expected (I include eggs and cheese, and liver twice a week).
    - Need less coffee. I'm still fanatical about my coffee but I don't seem to really need it now. Down to 2 or 3 small cups a day (in total 250 - 350 ml of pour-over or chemex made from 16 - 25 g of arabica beans).
I intentionally went into this experiment blind (without reading up on other's experiences on carnivore) because I wanted to avoid being influenced by what others had found, but when I did look the things almost everyone else were saying were what I had noted as being clearly linked to this diet change. I don't fit the profile of many who try carnivore to fix some otherwise intractable health issue (I would say I was healthy before), but I still notice a clear difference in the way my body feels eating this way.
The more I've looked into the microbiome aspect, the more it seems we don't know. We have good evidence that it's important, but less clear what is good or necessary for an individual. That seems to be very conditional on the diet context too - one of the few things that seems to be well understood is the role of the microbiome in supplying the enterocytes with butyrate when they digest fibre. But on a ketogenic diet where beta-hydroxybutyrate is readily available to all tissues, and fibre is all but absent, it seems that the role played by the microbiome is quite different, and possibly less important to many health issues.
I still have some reservations about sticking to a diet that is this high in protein for a very extended time period, mostly due to concerns about mTOR and the effect that protein has on stimulating that pathway, which is linked to promoting cancer. So I plan to switch back to keto at some point, but, just a little longer...

Christina you missed the point entirely - the epileptic “keto children” of the ‘50s were studied postmortem and examined for *overall health* . The results show *dramatic* health benefits from a ketogenic diet, specifically in terms of cerebral mass and quality, when the control group is comprised of standard-American-diet-consuming individuals.

So happy to hear this has been working out for you! This is a super helpful video. I am keen to try carnivore. Some recent health issues have crept in in recent years since I started incorporating a lot more fruit, veg and grains on my diet (multinodular goitre I have to have removed by surgery shortly, constant bloating, hormonal issues, brain fog and chronic fatigue etc.) So I really want to try just animal products.
I used to have Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) for like 20 years from when I was 2. All I would eat was meat, junk food from packets and maybe hot chips occasionally, vegemite sandwiches and 2 minute noodles, and honestly I didn't have as many issues then as what I do now from trying to eat the regular healthy way. I can get great quality grass-fed beef from a relatives farm here so I am really excited! Thank you for your videos, they have helped me make a decision I hope leads to good results 😁

I have been carnivore for almost a year now and my only complaint is that I wish this had been a thing 30 years ago. I am still tinkering with what I eat, I have started adding butter to more stuff. I probably eat 50/50 ratio of grass fed to "standard" meats just for the cost savings. I also do eggs, cheese, uncured bacon etc. The only carbs I eat are my two squares of dark chocolate that is sweetened with coconut butter instead of sugar (4 carbs).

a lot of it is water retention, so nothing really to get concerned about! :) you will notice that as soon as you first stop eating carbs, you will immediately lose a kilogram or even two within the first few days. the reverse thing happens when you've been eating mostly fat and proteins for a while and then add some carbs: your body will suddenly retain more water than it did during your carnivore or keto diet, but quickly lose it again as soon as you go back to not eating carbs. i think this is what she actually meant when she mentioned '6 pounds of inflammation'.

You can actually see the improvements in just three weeks. Your skin tone is glowing and even though you absolutely didn't need to drop any weight you look a bit thinner too. Huh? Who is saying you don't look very fit? You look great actually. Some people are just not too bright. Yes Grass Fed, Grass Finished, is the way to go. It's way way more nutricious and less wasted calories too. A bad piece of conventional 8 oz ribeye is probably closer to 800 calories while a grass fed ribeye 8 oz is probably closer to 560-600. I think the fat tastes AWFUL on conventional meats, but it's my favorite part of a real grass fed/finished steak.

The sleep thing can be funny on carnivore. Since I was in my early twenties, I have been told by several doctors that I'm just one of those people that just needs 9-10 hours of sleep per day. There has always been a kind of social pressure not to sleep so much, as most people hear that you sleep 9-1/2 hours a day and they kind of assume that you're just lazy, but when I tried to live on 8 or less, I simply could not function. When I began the carnivore diet, my sleep patters began to change radically. I would suffer what seemed to be periods of insomnia, an unknown condition in my previous life. The odd thing was that even on the nights that I had trouble sleeping, it did not seem to leave me tired the next day. I've now settled into a pattern of 7 hours per night. Imagine, after all these years, I've discovered two to three extra hours for every day of my life! I'm not at all expert on any of the scientific nuances that might be at play here, but it seems pretty obvious that something in my non-carnivore diet was pulling me down, though I couldn't say what. Even better, I seem to have the benefit of increased mental clarity and focus.
Anyway, thanks for this video. It sounds like a lot of you experiences are very similar to mine. I would have terrible cravings for carbs in early weeks, but I soon discovered that I needed to have some animal protein at the ready for such situations. That being said, I rarely find myself hungry on this diet. Just the other day, I baked a cake for my wife's birthday party. In doing so, I was confronted with by cake, frosting, and ice cream. I did not even feel tempted, which, given the way I used to love such things, is nothing short of miraculous.

I'm actually the same, except I'm diagnosed with a light form of narcolepsy (well, I knew before I went to verify it from a neuro doctor). I can fall asleep pretty easily, at any time of the day and sometimes I have involuntary sleep attacks that I have to fight against. I can easily sleep 12 hours a day.
That is, until I went full keto (which usually ends up being mostly carnivore). For me, it's definitely the carbs and not just my body, but also my brain are all functioning limited on glucose and never at 100%. However, my body has no problems whatsoever being fueled by ketones. In a deep ketosis (usually when I'm on strict carnivore), I seem to be only needing 5 hours of sleep. It looks like insomnia, but every time it happens I'm still shocked when I wake up thinking "Wooh, I slept for a long time, I feel great! How late is it? Wait, it's not even 6 yet!?" I'm shocked every time.
Basically I'm bursting with energy every day, barely need any sleep, feel great due to lack of inflammation, clear mind.
I'm pretty sure it's not far off to say that my body is allergic to (refined) carbohydrates. And while I can't eat them anymore, it's not like in the past I was able to eat them. I just ate 'regular' things and didn't know I was in an constant inflamed state and in a half functioning body. The knowledge is what makes the difference.
There are some great videos about all brains functioning perfectly on ketones and some brains not functioning well on glucose. It's not much different than the rest of your body when you have diabetes or pre-diabetes, the rules are the same for your brain. I suspect I have at least a form of insulin resistance. And if I look at the stats world wide, I think all bodies probably build up intolerance against carbohydrates, some faster than others. I think the human race is probably consuming too much refined carbohydrates which quickens the intolerance effect. Even in Japan they have a significant percent of the population with diabetes, so body size and calorie count isn't the actual problem of intolerance as some might think.
I personally hope that sugar will be classified as a poison one day. Just like the coca plant on it's own is impossible to be dangerous consumed normally, the way we extract, distill and evaporate and reduce sugars to it's purest crystallized form is just so unnatural and dangerous. It just acts slow enough that people don't notice the symptoms fast enough. Life is 100% better without sugar (or the American version: HFCS). Though personally I'm skipping any carbohydrates to catch up all the lost time, because I probably have consumed enough carbs, including sugars, for more than 5 lifetimes (scary if you think about it that way).

Thank you so much for sharing your videos! Subscribed! And don't beat yourself up about those cookies. I eat a "cheat" meal once a week on Keto and it seems to be fine. Overall you are doing awesome! Also, I'm so sorry to hear about your PTSD. I had a boss who had NPD and she targeted me to some serious emotional and mental abuse and I suffered PTSD for a long time after I left that job but that was probably nothing like what you experienced in domestic violence. I can't imagine having that kind of trauma! That stress would also really deplete your magnesium stores. I too have had my anxiety almost disappear since doing Keto. Also my asthma is gone for most of the minor triggers. I do think the anxiety went away from my Magnesium citrate though. I put magnesium citrate powder in my water bottle twice a day with a crystal light lemonade flavoring and that has REALLY helped knock out my anxiety almost immediately.
The first time I tried it, I was having a horrible panic attack and it was so late because I could not go to bed and I remembered the Mg. So I was a little scared to try it because my anxiety usually centers around being afraid for my health but I put in a half tsp on a glass of water and drank it. Literally within 45 minutes, a wonderful peace came over me that I had not felt in weeks! It was a MIRACLE! I started my daily mg water regime and have not stopped and that was about 4 months ago. I was having pretty bad anxiety and panic attacks before that. I do the magnesium in the morning to start my day and right before bed. I use about 1 tsp per water bottle. You could do more but I find that amount works well for me.

Safeway’s meat is super old, aged prior to freezing, and histamines in the stomach trigger excess stomach acid. (Pepcid is an anti histamine, and that’s how it works). Ugh. For your teeth, it might not be that the diet is anti-inflammatory (or not only), it might be that the bacteria in your mouth that creates the plaque tends to consume sugar. Now that your diet is relatively devoid of sugar, that bacteria is basically gone, so your gums may be less sensitive.
For the 6 pounds, you consumed 6 pounds of something - it may have been water, but it's impossible to put someone on a scale, have them not consume anything and gain 6 pounds because they got inflamed. It's like the "ton of feathers vs ton of iron" thing - inflammation would just increase volume, but the weight would be the same.
I find that the sugar thing is consistent. I can be not hungry, then eat some small sugary snack and *bam!* I'm all famished and want to eat 2 pounds of sugary junk. If I don't, then I rarely feel hungry.

I carb cycle sometimes and can lose from 5 up to little over 10 pounds of water and from glycogen stores over a few days when I cut carbs out, which, means going up by potentially just over 10 pounds just over night when I refill my glycogen.
I do feel best doing the carnivore thing though....

Yes that was definitely water weight gain.....she had given her body something it had not had for awhile, carbs and sugar, weather it was from inflammation or restoring glycogen I’m not sure....but for sure not fat gain....interesting . On a carnivore diet do you get weak and shaky? I did Adkins once and felt like I was going to pass out all the time if I exerted any energy. Isn’t this hard on your kidneys? Cause you go into Ketosis?

@@teresawright6805, You can feel shaky when you first start low carb. It usually goes away when your body becomes fat adapted, which can take some time. In this case she was already doing keto and was fat adapted so the transition to carnivore was easier than it would be for someone coming from another diet. Atkins was designed to initiate fat adaptation as rapidly as possible, which can be harsh for a lot of folks. After fat adaptation many (most?) people feel better than they did when eating high carb. As for your health, ketosis is a natural state, and is very different from ketoacidosis, which is very dangerous. As long as your ketones are in reasonable limits and you aren't eating too much carbs ketoacidosis is a non-issue.

Matt Hargraves You're right about the disappearance of bacteria and that would mean plaque would be reduced or eliminated, which in turn would reduce inflammation. I'm a dentist and observe this on myself.
And yes, I agree with everyone that it is water weight. Carbs cause water retention. You drop water and electrolytes when you go keto which is one reason people feel lousy at first.
I also don't understand why she was making cookies. Clearly she's a sugar/carb addict (so am I) and tempting yourself is just asking for trouble. Would it be smart for an alcoholic to be a bartender? As far as not spitting it out because that's a sign of an eating disorder--what would you call eating the cookies? She is steeped in dogma and this complicates her life.
Also overly obsessed with microbiome. For the same reason that plaque disappears in the mouth, bacteria disappear from the gut. People are so conditioned to believe that the biome is the be all and end all of health, but what if it wasn't meant to be there in the first place? When I was growing up my father used to tell me that our dog's rear end was cleaner than my mouth. They knew it back then, and now it's been forgotten. One can't forget that the reference point used for science is a population consuming plants.
Once your stomach acid pH drops (from removing glucose) meat is digested more completely, there is far less waste, and consequently there's nothing for gut bacteria to munch on--so they die. If you then try to eat plant matter it will go right through you undigested (just the way the pieces of veggies that are sometimes in canned cat food pass right through undigested with the poop--I see it in the litter box). The gut bacteria were meant to be in ruminants because they convert cellulose into fat for energy. That's not how humans obtain fat--we consume it directly.

Protein doesnt damage your kidneys. Raised BUN levels are due to increased nitrogen and isn't bad. You will only go into diabetic ketoacidosis if you are diabetic to began with. Someone who is healthy will not have an issue with or without carb consumption

You are correct regarding inflammation but the main reason your gums stopped bleeding is that you are finally getting the fat soluble vitamins your body so desperately needs. Oatmeal is like a sponge for water so most likely that was the main reason for the gain in weight.

Were the ribs oily? That may have created a problem. I also eat grass fed mostly. I make my own bone broth in a crockpot.

Wow great study. Thank you for sharing. The inflammation after cookie corruption was really interesting to hear. Not eating is not good.
