Speaking of plastics, im a truck driver and my wife and I drink water. We buy the gallon waters from walmart. How do we or can we contain water to drink on the road? Also if we get our water from home from our well, how do we get around the fact that our well water runs thru pvc pipe to our home? Seriously asking

I didnt get keto flu. I became deliriously happy right from the start. I cant be angry or peeved off if I tried. My brain just doesnt work that way anymore. For example: I almost got runover one morning. As I stepped off the curb a motorist narrowly missed running over my toes as he was travelling in the wrong direction. All I said with great surprise was "you cheeky bugger".
So this is 2years calm and collected. Its pretty nice.😁

@@heavenishere416 it’s been a while since I’ve watched this vid, but advice from someone who’s stopped and started a bunch: keep yourself full in the first few weeks. Since your appetite lowers, sometimes that looks like making yourself eat when you don’t want to. The place I go wrong is when I get hungry, realize too late (like when I’m out and about or at a friends house), and I reach for carbs and eat them in excess. So you might not lose weight as quickly, but it helps with the fat adaption. -this is anecdotal from my experience but just in case it helps!

My symptoms are diarrhea, muscle spasms, light headache, irritability, and fatigue. I've started on electrolytes and they are helping immensely. We have been fed utter garbage nutritional guidance from the established authorities for decades. Dr.Berry, Jason Fung and many more are clearing the nonsense out. They are actually making REAL differences in peoples lives. The comments just confirm it over and over again.

I too did not get the Keto Flu. I did eat a lot of magnesium and potassium foods. What happened is that in less than 24 hours I felt so much better. I think this feeling of wellbeing masked or somehow overpowered the keto flu.

  • @sitcomchristian6886
    @sitcomchristian6886 ปีที่แล้ว +24

I was definitely a little naive about keto flu! I took a week to ease into carnivore from SAD. Taking electrolytes for 3 days leading up to full carnivore. First day of carnivore, I no longer had the drop in blood sugar around 2:30 PM and thought I had made it.
Then that evening, I felt nauseous and had terrible brain fog. All night I alternated from too hot/too cold.
I woke up miserable. I could barely stand and thought I might throw up. I had shakes, sweats, and could not safely hold my 6 month old. Everything in my fridge was revolting to me. I decided to start from scratch, eat carbs and troubleshoot. Especially as a nursing mom with two other kids, the oldest is 4. I can't be out like that for days on end. Since getting back to baseline, I've been able to reintroduce meat, although fats are still gross to me for now. Not sure how I'll overcome that, since I know ladies tend to do best with higher fat.
I see now that I need a more gradual strategy. I'm going to do low carb for at least a month and taper down carbs from there. And electrolytes! I didn't know I needed THAT much salt. I will try again - I'm down but not out! It's really eye opening how bad I have it for carbs.

    • @johannaj2009
      @johannaj2009 ปีที่แล้ว +6

Go low carb and then gradually increase fat intake until you ditch out most of carbs. if you feel really sick take a break of the fat. Eat the fat cold ! Don’t drink when eating at the same time. when craving carbs have some fat Bombs or bacon

I also am suffering bad like you with fatigue, nausea, leg cramps, brain fog, heart palpitations, dizziness, digestive issues etc. I also have low iron and am wearing a Continuous Glucose Monitor and have am realizing after Keto for 1 week I have very low blood sugar. I don’t know what my blood sugar was like before eating Keto. So I’m adding more carbohydrates back little by little just to keep my blood glucose above 70. I don’t want to completely reverse my progress, but I also don’t want to feel like I’m going to go into a hypoglycemia induced coma either.

I wrote over a week ago about how excited I was to find you and start Keto as I've tried WW, Atkins, then just plain eating as little as possible. So it was refreshing to find I could actually eat food, not count calories, points etc. First week did great, but I live in wine country so we have wine/food events throughout the year and at 80 I'm not going to stop going as they are only a few a month if that many. OMG, after the wine/food break I restarted and I honestly felt so sick that I contemplated going to the doctor. At my age one never knows their expiration date, so I took this flu symptoms seriously....but first decided to see what you said. I had no electrolyte stuff so I read that pickle juice could help but I only had olives so I drank 2 oz of olive juice. I've ordered Magnesium citrate, and just started D3. You relieved my worries as I can tough this out as needed. I expect this to pass and it apparently could be a yo-yo process as there are 2 events end of next week and more sprinkled throughout the year. What an experiment. Thank you for doing the research and sharing your findings. Very generous and thought of you.

Funny, I called it a sugar hangover on all these vids when I first went Keto/low carb last January. It felt the same as a hangover, that most of us believed to be from the alcohol, but many of us knew that hangovers were worse with sugary drink mixes and when sugars were eaten at the same time.
It felt just the same. It detoxing, of the cells and giving the body a chance to get back to what it was designed to be, metabolically flexible. Long term high carb diets and low quality fats turns off metabolic flexibility.
Almost 10 months, maintaining goal weight while increasing fitness and improving health. Carnivore, Keto Whole Foods plant Keto if you can make that work, but honestly that requires much more work and shipping in enough exotic plant food that has all the nutrients you can get in a local grass fed beef and true free range chicken and eggs can provide that is so much easier to prepare and results in less inflammatory-health issues that carbs cause.

I started out fasting for a few years and kicking my sugar addiction then I decided to kick my carb addiction recently and oh man I never had any symptoms until I tried to kick the carbs. It's scary how bad carbs are for you. I thought for so long I was eating healthy but could never lose the weight or insulin resistance side effects until I started taking carbs out of my diet. I now think of eating in terms of meat, fruit and veggies and that really seems to help me wrap my head around not needing a filler in my meals like bread or pasta. I think I will allow myself to eat pasta or a bread product every once in a while like if I ever eat out with a friend or something or a pizza night but I swear overnight even though I have had withdrawal symptoms my body is doing so much better.

Now that I understand what’s happening to my body, I am definitely going tomorrow. I've been experiencing oxalate dumping and the keto flu for about two weeks. I had a setback when I went to the doctor, and he convinced me to try the standard American diet. I did it for one meal, which prolonged the flu phase. I will be so happy when this is over. I really want to kick this sugar addiction once and for all. Right now I feel like an absolute bear. The first time I started keto I got very depressed for about 10 days. Right now on top of keto flu I have a nasty cold. I made my first batch of bone broth, and that is getting me through. Pretty excited about my bone broth. It's hard to avoid sugar. It's everywhere. I work at a daycare centre, and parents sometimes give us gift cards to Tim Hortons or Starbucks, or bring in a box of donuts. Christmas, of course is the hardest. I don't make a point of telling parents that I am on a diet that involves zero sugar and close to zero carbs. I just smile and thank them for the gift, even if it includes chocolate, and then give it to my coworkers. That is HARD. I mean, who turns down chocolate or homemade Christmas cookies. I hope that by the time Christmas arrives, I will be deep enough into the keto diet to not give into temptation. Because getting back into ketosis always lands me in a nasty depression.

Strangely enough, I had headaches, earaches, and sinus problems only one one side of my head. The burning in my stomach was what finally made me quit. I have GERD, gastritis and esophagitis which is why I'm doing this, so I think my withdrawals are going to be more painful. I may have to do it in fits and starts, but I'll get it done. I just have to be more careful than most because a bad lupus flare could put me in the hospital.

Dr.Berry I understand now why it’s better to NOT do this lifestyle alone. Family and friends will automatically try to shove something in my mouth during these times. Something sweet or processed. Sadly I’ve gone through the keto flu several times and never got through to the end (each time) because of this + my mindset would just cave & I’d seriously make myself believe keto was not healthy. It’s been 2yrs since I’ve tried this lifestyle and I’ve notice there is more information now and lots of new recipes to dupe out anything you use to miss. It’s been about a week in a half and I’ve noticed that I’m satiated and not bloated. It’s a relief. I’m craving bad! But I know that’s due to me choosing donuts and cake for breakfast over something healthy. I was previously on a Herbalife diet. 1200cal a day and I cried by the end of my first week. I was going to bed feeling hungry and I was constantly told the nutrients in the meal replacement would suffice. I beg to differ. Found myself feeling more tired than normal during the day, but couldn’t sleep at night & then I was recommended an old video of keto info. Felt like it was a sign from God. Got my journal and 🖊 taking notes 📝 . Thank you for this excessive amount of free info! 🧠

I have no problem with keto flu coz I was ready with electrolyte but I'm still suffering with keto rash. I don't have any carbs and sugar cravings at all. Will just assume it was from the toxins in the accumulated fat that my body get rid off which can't be expelled through urine. The rash was quite irritating. Well I know I been eating unhealthy for 4 decades. I hope this will get away soon. Other health complications have been improved so much that I'm very happy with myself. Keto for life 😁

Hi Dr. Berry, your video answered my question I sent you via email. I believe my insomnia is the Keto flu. Also thanks for the the nuts video, I needed to hear that.
A personal testimony. I started this diet to get healthier and loose weight. For over 20; years I have been a chronic metal health patient. All my symptoms for anxiety and Depression has gone away. After reading a book by medical journalist Robert Whitaker called Anatomy of an Epidemic, talking about the astonishing rise of mental illness in America. I made some lifestyles changes and it is amazing the changes in my life. I feel so much better now. I have energy, and I have greatly reduced dependency on certain medications. Thanks so much!

I thought I was having a heart attack cause I couldn’t explain these symptoms. I went to the ER had them running tests like crazy. These people probably thought I was losing my mind. This makes so much more sense. I had a potassium deficiency but that’s normal now. Thanks for this explanation

Please Dr. Ken make a video on what to eat after chemotherapy sessions are done for a cancer patient. Is keto diet good for a person of 60 years old who is recovering from a cancer? and is it ok to follow a keto diet while having chemotherapy? My father is sick and I really want to help him with the diet. Thanks a lot Dr. Ken. Will be waiting for your response in a video.
    Much appreciated!

Read Dr Annette Bosworth’s book ‘Any Way You Can” which gives an account of how she helped her mother recover from cancer, using ketosis. It is also a good guide to starting the Keto diet. I think you would find it easy to read, and very helpful.

I ate very little junk before going low carb, so my sugar withdrawal had me feeling crappy for only 24 hours. I recommend starting the lifestyle by going cold turkey for psychological reasons. Make a decision without rationalization or excuses. Donate unopened food you will no longer be eating to a food pantry and throw out or give to your friends, the opened containers that you have decided to no longer eat. This process reinforces your decision. After you get through the withdrawals, you will be rewarded by crazy good feelings of alertness and high energy. I’m single so it was easy for me to do this, but I can imagine that in a family or relationship setting, the change is best done as a group. Maybe this isn’t polite, but I discretely look at what others are buying in the checkout aisle and marvel at the carb/junk to real food ratio of what is in other shopper’s carts (“sugar, sugar, carb, sugar, sugar, sugar”). This observation really brings home the reality of endemic heart disease and diabetes levels in the US and all of the associated issues that come with them.

      "Maybe this isn’t polite"
      Fuck polite.
As stated elsewhere, I woke up on June 15 , 65 years old, 284# in pain and pissed off about it.
Went Carno all in and that was it.
My wife was not ready - still is not - it doesn't matter.
My sons tell me it's not good for me - it doesn't matter.
This is for me and that's what matters.
I don't beat myself up over it when I "cheat" because I'm in for the long haul.
My wife wanted a burrito Friday night and I had one for the first time since June. Still peed dark pink the next morning.
But yes, I'm now becoming something of a zealot when I see morbidly obese people and people buying CARBAGE in the checkout line.
You will get worse about it.
      ps: hit 250 this morning.

It lasted 3 days for me. The cravings lasted about 10 days. Now I eat carnovore til I'm satisfied, and don't feel those cravings. If I want something, I eat some meat. Hamburger seems the most satsfying.

Yes. Carbs and sugar are so freaking addictive! I'm back on keto for 4 days now. I feel like total crap. No energy whatsoever. Mouth tastes terrible. I keep telling my husband that I feel like I'm dying. I gotta stay the course and get thru the next 3 weeks of transition and withdrawl, and I know I'll be fine and will start to burn fat.
