THANK YOU for setting the record straight with truth & not FUD.. I was dead set on getting my 1st crypto wallet by buying The OneKey Classic.. But, after watching this video, Tangem is definitely making that decision difficult.. lol..
Number three, multi signature (edited: like a key split): With 24 words you can do your own multi signature and don't need a third party, you could split 50/50 the words between writing them down for your own household safe and the other half at a bank safe. Additionally I would have an electronic storage split backup: Half the words in a password manager, and half the words on an air gapped device. Your phone leaves your house everyday as it should as part of this security permutation should have the 12 words that "match" the 12 in your bank, meaning different to complete the 24. This way if you lose your two at home on a device and in the safe. You still have the backup between your bank and phone, and if you lose any one of the four 12 words the other three sets will cover you. And get a gun
@@cyberscrilla You're not storing your seed phrase online. Half of it but you even said in this video that 12 words is more than enough security. Nobody's going to guess a series of 256 zeros and ones. How do you figure it's not multi signature when you are splitting the seed phrase? Why can't you look at it in terms of from the hacker point of view? Effectively they would need two keys. SHA 256 * 2.
12 words is secure. Doesn’t mean you should store it online. Multisig involves multiple parties or keys being required to authorize a transaction. What you described involves splitting a single key or seed phrase into multiple parts for redundancy and security. It's a form of backup and redundancy rather than multisig. What you described is more like Shamir backup 👍
@@cyberscrilla Part 2 Technically you can say you are right, but the level of security with a split 24 word phrase operates as secure as a 12 word phrase given the hacker has gotten into one of the four backups I have set up which I guess your biggest worry would be the password manager. Multi-signature refers to requiring multiple keys to authorize a Bitcoin transaction, rather than a single signature from one key. So I get it's not two signatures, but let's say he gets both halves of my private key and all 24 words, is that really any different security wise doing one signature or two with two different 12 word sets? He would have both anyway so it's a meaningless distinction and the technicality doesn't matter I would also add that it is as secure as multi signature but you don't need two or more signatures. But the separation of half your seed phrase acts just as secure as two different signatures even though you only need one when combining the other half. I see no security difference between having one signature and having a split seed phrase compared to two 12 word seed phrases that require two signatures as multisig. The main point here is to not have a single point of failure by having your whole seed phrase whether 12 or 24 words in one place.
@@cyberscrilla Yeah I guess that would be a better name for it for sure Split key And it's actually what I do instead of the bother of Shamir, avoiding Shamir

Tangem has some of the best customer service in the industry. For most companies in crypto, customer service is basically non-existent in my experience. Tangem on the other hand, has been very responsive.
New to this and I’m still confused about what’s the best cold wallet! I did order the Tangem cards then actually watch that gentleman’s video after receiving them. I hesitated activating my cards, but I will give them a try! Thank you!!
Best is subjective. There are many great options, all with their own pros and cons. Tangem is great for many reasons. It’s secure and extremely beginner friendly. I also enjoy Onekey and Trezor wallets.
Would I be correct in saying that the problem with Tangem is that if a person had say 10 BTC and wanted to send $10 to a friend ALL 10 BTC would disappear from the Tangem for a short time because of the way UTXOs work?
99% of thefts from other wallets seems to be from people not securing their seed phrase properly (which is a massive risk) Tangem removes this risk. Just store your cards in 2 or 3 separate locations
Hi thanks for you info. I just bought the tangem (after seeing your videos) I currently use ledger. I can just import the ledger seed phrase and the same seed phrase will be on both devices? And my crypto will also be available on both? Is that type of backup recommended?
I think it's recommended to create a new seed phrase on tangem and then transfer your crypto from your ledger to your new tangem wallet. The private key generated on the ledger can't be trusted now because of the new ledger firmware update. So it's best to not use that private key and create a new one. You backup is your seed phrase. As long as you have your seed phrase, you can access your wallet.
dont use these cards, they are a living nightmare, my crypto have been stuck for days.. and so have many others.. they have problems all the time while other wallets work fine
Excellent. Would Tangem be a wallet a large holder of Bitcoin would use as their main storage? What would you use if Bitcoin went to $1million? Would you still be happy with Tangem or would you prefer something else?
Personally, I’d either use a bitcoin only wallet like BitBox or a wallet like the Trezor Safe 3 with bitcoin only firmware. If Tangem came out with a BTC only edition, I’d use that.
If i set seed phrase, do i need to put it in everytime when i want to acces the wallet, or the cards enough, and phrase is just for security??? Thank you for the answer😊
Perhaps, but it was not a well researched video, and it came off as very fear based. I don’t think he’s trying to help people as much as he is trying to get views. Otherwise more effort would have been put into providing accurate info.
To be honest I feel like importing seed phrases to the card via your phone decreases your trust as it could be viewed somehow by hackers if you have malware on your phone am I right? That's why if they add a screen to their card you have the option to confirm the seed phrase via the card screen without having to reveal it outside the card.
I think not having screen to recheck the sending or receiving address. Is a concern for me as well. It’s not as secure as the hardware wallets that have the screen for sure. In the end, it comes down to how paranoid you are.
One seldomly writes down their seed phrase more times and hides them in 3 different places .. to me 3 cards are like 3 lists except if one gets found, nobody can steal my btc
After watching this video, I am more convinced that the other guy was quite right to point out many of the drawbacks. I think this guy takes too casual a view of several matters including lack of passphrases, lack of firmware updates and single receiving address. Ignore these at your peril!
I really like the Tangem wallet. Extremely easy to set up and use. HOWEVER, be very careful about which network you use to move your coins. Tangem doesn’t support Base Network which is becoming more and more popular. I have a small amount of coins sitting on the blockchain until Tangem supports Base. Thank goodness I only tried to move a small about bc if it were more, I would be panicked.
I guess idk what you mean by the app malfunctions. As long as you have the app on your phone you can send crypto. You can also download the app from GitHub. That said, I always recommend knowing your seed phrase so you don’t have to worry about the app. Might be worth upgrading to the new Tangem wallet.
Tangem is great if you live nomadic without a base. Small lightweight and no paper with seed in your bag someone could take in a Hostel. But, all cards at the Same place is bad... I did set up Tangem without seed phrase, but after I hear that a 24 Word Phrase would work, I thought I should Change it and import one of the BIP 85 children into it. Is it possible to reset the card and do it with a seed phrase? I want to set up a Sparrow Wallet with multisig, so I could use Tangem as a signer! How? Tangem I didn't try, I thought it wont work. My SafePal I tried and it failed. You say I could use any wallet, could you explain how? Make a Video about it!
Question.. im Canadian and have deposited Doge to tangem. In order for ne to receive CAD to my bank do i need to send it back to an exhange, sell for USD, convert to CAD and finally withdrawal? Is it possible or worth it to just swap to BTC through tangem then send to my Shakepay? Thanks!!
Thanks to you, I ordered a Tangem wallet. I recently received it and I have started transferring BTC from my two exchanges. It’s frustrating that they limit the amount you can transfer every 24 hours. Question: while the amount that can be transferred FROM the exchanges to the wallet is limited per day, how does it work inn the reverse? When it’s time to transfer BTC from my Tangem wallet to an exchange to sell, can I move it all…or will the amount be limited again? Thanks so much!
There’s no limit to how much crypto you can transfer to an exchange, but there are generally withdrawal limits. So just because you can transfer $100k worth of BTC to an exchange doesn’t mean you can withdraw it all that day. I’d check the terms of whatever exchange you’re using.
There has been one case of the Trezor Model T being hacked years ago. “Unciphered, a company of cybersecurity professionals who recover lost cryptocurrency, says it found a way to physically hack into the Trezor T hardware wallet”. However, the hack could have been prevented if the wallet had a strong password enabled. That said, the new Trezor Safe 3 is not prone to that hack since it has a secure element chip. The attack was a RDP downgrade attack requiring physical theft of the device and extremely sophisticated technological knowledge and advanced equipment. All that said, I like Trezor’s products and would recommend the Safe 3.
Got my Tangem 2.0, waiting for PulseChain support. I will begin to use it with degen plays, I like to know my seed and passphrase and not knowing it kinda drives me insane. Trust vs Verify.
That’s not how it works. The private key is still stored on the card, which makes it secure. The risk (with ANY wallet) is potentially connecting it to a malicious website and handing over access to your wallet.
Yes you can. I think you watched my most recent video about swapping already. And sure, the Tangem wallet is resistant to extreme temperatures. So storing it in a warmer location shouldn’t be an issue
Tangem doesn’t charge transaction fees. Those fees are charged by whichever blockchain you’re transacting on. Or if you’re swapping, those fees are charged by the third party party aggregator. Tangem does not charge any fees
The previously installed app on your device will be available if the ability to download it from App Store/Google Play suddenly disappears. Great video, simple question, can your transfer your crypto from any hardware wallet to a different brand using your seed phrase? Can anyone help answer this please!
Thanks! A couple things, transferring crypto is different than importing a seed phrase. You can transfer your crypto from Tamgem to any wallet/vice versa. You can also take your seed phrase from Tamgem and import it into another brand of hardware wallet, allowing you to access your entire crypto portfolio on that wallet.
@@cyberscrilla Thank you so much! Trezor told me you can only use your seed phrase with another Trezor hardware wallet, i.e. you can only use your seed phrase to access your crypto using the same hardware wallet brand !
Does Tangem have any real customer services support? I tried looking over at their website but could not find any contact details such as a support email address. I want to ask how I can order the black Tangem instead of the current white special edition sets. How can I contact them?

Does anyone feel it would be dangerous to use the token swap exchange feature on Tangem . I’m concerned this would open up the wallet to reverse hacking.
No. You’re not connecting your wallet to anything or approving spend contracts (which is how you could be hacked). You send crypto to said exchange. They exchange it for you (+ take a fee). Then send the swapped crypto back to your wallet. No connecting required
Nice! You could also create a 24 word seed phrase using another wallet and import it into Tangem, no need to wait if you don’t want as Tangem already supports importing 24 word phrases.
Yes, I have the Titan mini and Titan 2.0. Both decent wallets. But the Titan 2.0 has some issues regarding updating the firmware via the micro sd card. If takes some finagling
Correct. Using the new phone, you’d download the Tangem app, scan your cards, and enter your custom access code to recover your wallet on the new phone.
I’ve already responded to your other comment. Blockchain fees constantly fluctuate based on network congestion. Right now it'll cost about $7-15. Tangem doesn’t charge transfer fees.
Are you currently using it as a seedless wallet with crypto on it? If so, you need to transfer your crypto to a new wallet before resetting it otherwise you’ll lose your crypto. This is how to factory reset it: 1. Open the Tangem app and press the three dots in the upper right corner of the screen. 2. Press Card Settings. 3. On the screen that appears, press the Scan the Card and scan the card you want to reset. 4. On the Card settings page, tap Reset to Factory Settings.

@@cyberscrilla So do I turn on automatic updates within the Play Store ( from where I downloaded the App), or on my phone (within the downloaded Tangem App)?
It wasnt misinformation, lots of the drawbacks you said you guys are going to add the features so the video is correct. As of when he recorded hes talking about the current tangem wallet, not the future one with better features. And also that was a terrible answer about no screen display. Remove all trust, doesnt matter how theyve never been hacked or what audits they have, a screen is 100x better than no screen. Dont trust, verify.
Sure, he made points on SOME things that aren’t available yet. But that doesn’t change the fact that SOME things he said was inaccurate, so I wanted to correct him. Also, there is always some level of trust. You’re either trusting the hardware wallet company, an auditor, or yourself (assuming the code is open source and you know how to read code).
10 days ago ı bought tangem they confirmed the order but not send shipping information very bad reputation for me not even single e-mail they return no explanation
@graceandpanic9281 you can’t migrate if you setup the card using the seedless option. You’d have to transfer your crypto to the new wallet. If you had chosen the optional seed phrase method during setup, then you could simply import your seed phrase into a different wallet (assuming you’re using the new version of the cards)
It need trust on Software. We can't be 100% sure it ill free of problem in the future even if it is opensource. I have Tangem and like it but I don't fully trust their software, not from security side, but from bugs that could be potentially huge risk. They need to boast their budget to make the software so it will actually capable of handling various network without put the blame on "Congestion". Or otherwise they should make support of 3rd party wallets if they aren't capable of handling them theirself. The card is good, but the software is too plainly simple. Also the lied about 24hour support completely.
The wallet’s software randomly selects 12 random words from a wordlist containing 2048 words based on the BIP39 seed phrase standard. The software converts the chosen string of words into a binary seed, which it uses to generate a set of private keys and public address pairings. The private keys are then uploaded and stored on the Tangem cards.
@@cyberscrilla ok and where do you type your passphrase? Let's remember other hardware wallets like keystone, TREZOR (touch screen) etc all allow you to enter this sensitive passphrase directly on the hardware device this is because a passphrase should never ever touch a hot device. So they are coming out with passphrase capability as you say right? Question, where do you enter this passphrase? Please please don't tell me the mobile device. I'd like to hear your response
@@cyberscrilla Ok, this is exactly my point. There are a LOT of people who use the Trezor Model T. When they plug it in to the computer, they interact with it via Trezor Suite, which shows the user the passphrase option and Trezor has encouraged the use of this big time (good practice and the fact that Trezor T does not has a secure element) So a LOT of people are aware of a passphrase. Now with this solution you are mentioning, it forces the user to enter the passphrase on a mobile device??? really??? This is a major security hole and you must know this. This is NOT as secure as a Cold card or Keystone Pro 3 or even the Trezor safe 3 which allows you to enter everything on the device. Based on this, please advise this to your users in your videos that this is NOT as secure as other hardware wallets. Yes, this wallet is physically "durable" but it is not as "secure" as of the 3 above I've mentioned. Please don't try to brush the passphrase off as a barely used feature. It is a very much used feature. Therefor we can conclude again that this is a durable wallet but no where near as secure as the 3 mentioned. Your users really need to know this. Let them be informed.
No pass phase must be a deal breaker. -This is giving you no seed generation entropy protection or a bad actor using a set pool of seed words created. -No seed collision protection, due to above issue. -If your seed word card is found or stolen, this gives you time to move your crypto.
First off, Tangem does support importing a passphrase (hidden wallet). Now addressing your concerns. 1. Tangem uses BIP39 (just like most cold wallets) which ensures high entropy during seed generation, making the seed phrases highly secure and resistant to brute-force attacks. 2. Given the large number of possible combinations (for a 24-word BIP39 phrase, it’s 6.24^24), this is extremely unlikely. To put this into perspective, that’s a 1 followed by 79 zeros: 115,792,089,237,316,195,423,570,985,008,687,907,853,269,984,665,640,564,039,457,584,007,913,129,639,936. 3. I don’t see what the issue is here? If your card is stolen nothing happens because your cards are protected by your own unique access code that you create when you setup the wallet. Hopefully this clears any confusion for you. - Alex
@@cyberscrilla yes, always claimed high entropy - passphrase removes this trust of any error applied to the TRNG or firmware applying a set value to narrow the entropy. Even hardware wallets have had issues creating perfect entropy in the past, software wallets have always have a poor history.
You said at one video that if you buy the 3 card tangem and you use just the 2 of them you can not do something with the last one. But you can, if you make a wallet then you can erase the 2 of the cards and leave just one inside, then you can make an other wallet with the other 2 😁😂 I hacked the system

Many of his statements were factually false. I’m sorry you’ve had a bad experience with the cards. But that doesn’t make his statements any more true. Personally, I’ve used my cards for over a year with minimal issues, and I use them almost daily. Many other people are happy with Tangem too. There’s a wallet for everyone. I don’t expect everyone to like Tangem. The Safe 3 is awesome
I think saying that a passphrase is not critical is a dangerous thing to say. I would say that it is critical in order to protect your SEED PHRASE itself.
So many wrongs here 😅 Tangem with the mnemonic phrase and Tangem without one are two different things. The later can be called a hardware wallet. The former is just a fancy software wallet with a fancy card. Let's not forget what a hardware wallet is. The security narrative is that you generate the key on the secure chip and you keep the key on the secure chip. The master key never leaves the hardware wallet. When you restore a real hardware wallet, you input your mnemonic on the actual hardware wallet device - not on your phone. Tangem negates the whole concept by allowing the mnemonic input on the phone. Given that, I can just use any ordinary software wallet without any fancy cards and have the same security level. Once you drag your mnemonic through the phone, it's done !!!. Blind signing is bad. Full stop. "We are secure cos we've never been hacked before... And we've sold many wallets..." is not a proof of security 😊 it's just blah blah. Blind signing is bad and there is no way around it. "Trust our app because we think you should..." is not a security concept.
No. The private key is stored on the secure element chip inside the card. Nothing is stored on the app. Additionally, all transactions must be approved using the card (the hardware wallet), without it you CAN’T approve transaction.
@@cyberscrilla When you set up Tangem with the seed phrase option, the private key is displayed on the app on the mobile which is connected to the internet, just like a software wallet and then it transfers to the card. Without the seed phrase option, it acts like a hardware wallet because the key is not shown in the app. "
@rukshanmanorathna6276 First off the private key is not shown. The seed phrase is. Secondly, no one can see the seed phrase but you. Once you move onto the next step, it’s completely erased and not stored anywhere, and the private key is transferred to cards. It’s a cold wallet.

Yes you can. Maybe just not the way you want to… Not all tokens are available to sell directly from the app. So you either need to use a decentralized exchange to sell it, or send it to a centralized exchange and sell it there. THANK YOU for setting the record straight with truth & not FUD.. I was dead set on getting my 1st crypto wallet by buying The OneKey Classic.. But, after watching this video, Tangem is definitely making that decision difficult.. lol..
👍 Both are great choices imo. However, I’d recommend the Onekey Classic 1S if you go that route.
@@cyberscrilla do you have a link, where I can use your discount code?
Number three, multi signature (edited: like a key split):
With 24 words you can do your own multi signature and don't need a third party, you could split 50/50 the words between writing them down for your own household safe and the other half at a bank safe.
Additionally I would have an electronic storage split backup:
Half the words in a password manager, and half the words on an air gapped device.
I do not agree with this. I’d never recommend storing your seed phrase anywhere online, including a password manager.
Also, that’s not multisig.
@@cyberscrilla
You're not storing your seed phrase online.
@@cyberscrilla
Part 2
Technically you can say you are right, but the level of security with a split 24 word phrase operates as secure as a 12 word phrase given the hacker has gotten into one of the four backups I have set up which I guess your biggest worry would be the password manager.
He would have both anyway so it's a meaningless distinction and the technicality doesn't matter
I would also add that it is as secure as multi signature but you don't need two or more signatures.
@@cyberscrilla
Yeah I guess that would be a better name for it for sure
Split key
And it's actually what I do instead of the bother of Shamir, avoiding Shamir

Saw that video but having watched many videos researching Tangem wallets I was only worried about his customer care problem.
Thank you!!

More so from clicking on phishing links. Which any wallet is susceptible to.
I prefer to know my seed phrase.

Otherwise more effort would have been put into providing accurate info.
Nice explanation ❤ I am alredy watch this video earlier. literally 😲
I'm glad u making a video. Clarifying the other video, I wrote a comment on his video. A lot of things he was saying are false
To be honest I feel like importing seed phrases to the card via your phone decreases your trust as it could be viewed somehow by hackers if you have malware on your phone am I right? That's why if they add a screen to their card you have the option to confirm the seed phrase via the card screen without having to reveal it outside the card.
I covered this in the video when talking about the app and malware.
I am excited to get mine, it is the white set, I may get the black set as well so that I can easily differentiate them
That’s a good idea actually
Why Trezor is fully open source but Tangem is not? Both are using the same chip , why Trezor is allowed to open source it but Tangem not?
Yo man at the end of the day will you be ok if you have your seed phrase but you forgot your access code..?
Yes. Seed phrase is the key to your wallet.

Yep, regardless of any wallet you’re using, always understand what chain you’re sending crypto on and ensure your wallet supports that chain
Question,
If you use the old Tantrum wallet without the seed phrase and the app malfunctions, somehow, can you get locked out of your coins??????
How?

Question.. im Canadian and have deposited Doge to tangem.
@@cyberscrillawhat do you think about trezor? Has it ever been hacked?

How safe is tangem when buying and sending crypto from dex to tangem wallet? it becomes a hot wallet then? because using it online.
That’s not how it works. The private key is still stored on the card, which makes it secure.
The risk (with ANY wallet) is potentially connecting it to a malicious website and handing over access to your wallet.
Can I swap between crypto within my tangem app?
Also, can the card itself be stored somewhere that might be a hotter place.

Tangem doesn’t charge transaction fees.
Those fees are charged by whichever blockchain you’re transacting on.
Or if you’re swapping, those fees are charged by the third party party aggregator.
Tangem does not charge any fees
If Tangem ceases to exist and you don't have the seed phrase version of Tangem, how do you get your funds?
The previously installed app on your device will be available if the ability to download it from App Store/Google Play suddenly disappears.

You can transfer your crypto from Tamgem to any wallet/vice versa.
You can also take your seed phrase from Tamgem and import it into another brand of hardware wallet, allowing you to access your entire crypto portfolio on that wallet.

What do you mean?
@@cyberscrilla how does it give you the seed, on the app?
The wallet’s software randomly selects 12 random words from a wordlist containing 2048 words based on the BIP39 seed phrase standard.
The software converts the chosen string of words into a binary seed, which it uses to generate a set of private keys and public address pairings.
The private keys are then uploaded and stored on the Tangem cards.

Not supported the passphrase is a major setback.
For some. Many people don’t use that feature. Also, passphrase is coming to Tangem by May/June
Obviously the mobile device.
@@cyberscrilla you deleted my last response? Amazing
To put this into perspective, that’s a 1 followed by 79 zeros:
115,792,089,237,316,195,423,570,985,008,687,907,853,269,984,665,640,564,039,457,584,007,913,129,639,936.

Of course. That’s the case for any wallet that utilizes a seed phrase. It’s just not convenient
if i buy 3 cards, can i use it for 3 people? not for bck up.
That's a bad idea because if 1 card goes bad, you could lose all your crypto, depending on which seed phrase option you chose.. And yes, people have reported their cards going bad.

So many wrongs here 😅
Tangem with the mnemonic phrase and Tangem without one are two different things.

@@cyberscrilla 100% correct! Tangem with the mnemonic phrase is just a software wallet with a fancy card!
That's why I said, "Tangem with the mnemonic phrase option is just a software wallet with a fancy card!" Without the seed phrase option, it acts like a hardware wallet because the key is not shown in the app.

@rukshanmanorathna6276 First off the private key is not shown. The seed phrase is. Secondly, no one can see the seed phrase but you. Once you move onto the next step, it’s completely erased and not stored anywhere, and the private key is transferred to cards. It’s a cold wallet.
dont use these cards, they are a living nightmare, my crypto have been stuck for days.. and so have many others..
they have problems all the time while other wallets work fine
What do you mean? I’ve been using mine weekly without any issues.
P.S. Explaining your experience would be way more helpful than copy/pasting this same comment over and over again on my channel
I own a tangem wallet and I am not happy wit it at all I can't with draw any profits off this thing I'm soooooooo glad I didn't put all my crypto on this bs of a card
Yes you can. Maybe just not the way you want to…
Not all tokens are available to sell directly from the app.
So you either need to use a decentralized exchange to sell it, or send it to a centralized exchange and sell it there.
It’s a user error. Not a card error. Happy to help if you want to provide more context.
STOP PAYING TO HAVE THIS VIDEO SERVED UP! ANNOYING
🤣 I’ve never paid to have this video served. It would tell you if it was a paid promotion. That’s the TH-cam algorithm doing its job
You have to be really stupid to lose 3 cards…..😂😂😂😅😅
