I am sorry that you’re still dealing with issues with your mom. I wanted to cry when you said you even breastfed him as a baby, since I know you had an infant then too. It shows how much you loved him and cared for him even more than his own mother. It sounds like your mom will never change - do you think you would want to take him, or is it better for him to stay with the foster family? I know it is complex. Just know you are doing a good job.

I think she has enough on her plate. And it's probably best for him that he stays where he is because I'm sure he's formed a bond

As much as I remember from previous videos where she explained about the situation - there is a family member since this baby's birth that is willing to adopt him but her mother has not lost her rights to be his parent so the system puts the baby in foster care instead of taking her rights and giving this baby to this family member to adopt, as much as I understand ... So for all this time she is actually trying to fight for his rights to stay at a permenant family and she's said already that she would take him if she had the chance to but she thinks it's better for him to be adopted by these relatives that she mentioned - and still be a part of his life. Sorry if you got lost in my comment, I'm not a native speaker :D

@@valentinas.3752 it sounds like her mother is being selfish. She doesn’t want that family member to take him i guess so she would rather he sit in foster care. Meanwhile he has a bond with those people so he should just be adopted by them. It is awful that there are such atrocious parents out there.

I’m so sorry that this is the way things have gone with your family. I just adopted my brother in law (2 years) this month after him being our foster child since he was removed for the same reasons as your brother at 2 months old. The process is so long and unfair to the babies, while it seems like bio parents are rewarded for manipulating the system sometimes

I’m so sorry Yasmyn. I can’t imagine the emotional turmoil you’re going through. I hope you can keep a sibling relationship with your little brother no matter what happens. As a mother that has adopted from foster care and sets up multiple times a month for my a child to spend time with her bio family, it’s truly possible for those bonds to remain and grow even if a child isn’t adopted by family. The system can hinder the contact too while the case is ongoing, and in our case, the contact and visits transformed in the best ways after the adoption. Of course family placement is ideal, but hopefully hearing some decent outcomes will make the possibility of things going a different direction feel less scary. ❤❤

Agree with the comment that you probably have a nail or something causing a slow leak if you have to put air in same tire every few weeks! Hopefully, it can be patched. Does your brother have a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA)? Have they moved to concurrent planning of reunification with mom and also adoption/terminating parental rights? Hope whichever family member who will want to care for him if they move to terminate rights is becoming licensed as a foster parent- especially if out of state. That should make the transfer faster if they do eventually go that route and are having visits/interaction with him. You could easily be looking at another year of foster care with eventual termination of parental rights and the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (ICPC) if he will be placed out of state from Maryland. The ICPC can take months between two states. Honestly, the best bet would be for family living in Maryland to step in and foster him now. Although family is supposed to be first, longer he stays with a foster parent some judges will say "why didn't family step up?" while in foster care. Courts/social workers do not follow the federal timelines for permanency for children in foster care in Maryland. He should have already had permanency after two years. They give parents chance after chance because they are reluctant to terminate parental rights. And, they don't want to try and terminate rights unless they are sure they will win the case.

I was taken from my biological family and raised by abusive foster family. Believe it or not even as a baby and toddler, it's traumatic and stays with you! I carried memories with me, I didn't know who the people in my memories were, until, I met my biological family in my late thirties. Those memories were validated by different family members. Just saying, some of us do remember stuff from our toddler and baby years.
