If you are only interested in a Double 6 set. Marion is the way to go. They offer a tournament size domino set without having to go Double 9. If you only play Muggin or Bergen or All 3's. The Marion set could be the set for you. Practically the same size and has spinners.
In my extensive domino research I found out that the spinner was an accidental invention on the domino. A round headed tack/braid was placed in the center to hold two parts of a two tone type of domino together then they found that the rounded head made mixing the dominos easier (Less surface area to drag).
I would not have thought it made a difference. We played dominoes with old sets (maybe 80’s vintage) and I loved how they felt. Weighty, super smooth, with a nice click clack. No spinners. We came home and got out our cheap set and I was very disappointed. Nothing like the old ones. Question, though. If you get a double 12 set, can you just take out the ones with numbers above nine to get a double 9 set or are the combos different?
Yes, you can remove excess dominoes to make any size set you want. If you took out all the 12s you would have a double 11. If you also removed all the 11s and 10s you would have a double nine, etc.
These arn't Alex Cramer dominoes in the video but Alex Cramer sets are good dominoes also. I've never seen an Alex Cramer set with spinners. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N51JJI0/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=roundturn1962-20&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B00N51JJI0&linkId=0f3be8d8eaa71eca755c280037e1e0e3
Just like with everything else in the world, you get what you pay for. Ideally, you probably want your dominoes to be thick, weighty, and made out of something of higher quality then plastic, like ivory. Those cheap, thin black dominoes are really horrible and should be avoided at all costs. Not only could you easily snap them in half, but they often have defects or are misshapen.
I admire your taste in quality items, but as a mathmatician, you have failed horribly, I mean you are the perfect meme of "Tell me you've never read a tape measure before;without telling me you've Never red eight ape mess you're beef ore 😂 The way you actually said and just tried to act like it didnt happen..🎉🎉😅😅😅😅😮😮😮😮.... My tape measure doesnt have a graduation mark for It has a grauduation mark for 1/8 1/4 > 1/2😅😅😅😅 Can you read [ 11/33] and [Seven Fifths] on your tape measure also????

Thank You for your service.
Seems like they would add a dimple in the back to accept the spinner so you can stack them without scratching.

@@Martyec I’ve been trying to find out why some sets have spinners.
Tournament set. Nice
Are Mexican Train Dominos numbered differently than a double 12 set?
