    I have been looking for someone to show blood sugars that were high. All I ever see is people who have it in control all the time. I just started on my GD journey and I know it will be a learning curve. Thank you for the raw and real truth!!

      I hope it was helpful! I remember feeling like I was alone on an island when going through GD and like everyone was succeeding at it but me. Which is WRONG! Let me know if you ever have any questions, and I'd be happy to share more of my experience with you. Good luck!

    I am now 37 weeks pregnant and I was diagnosed with GD on my 32nd week. I only had problem with my fasting blood sugar level which was spiking and under control sometimes. This is totally due to hormonal changes and not with the food, as I had my levels lower 1 hour after every meal. However, I tried to get it controlled with diet and exercise alone but couldn’t. So I have been on minimum dose of insulin now for past 3 weeks and I can see the numbers are in control. And the baby growth scan that I took few days ago showed that the baby weight is as expected and not exceeded. So currently everything is under control and expecting my baby in 2 weeks, i.e., after my 39 weeks. Hope everything goes fine.

    Thank you for these videos, you have no idea how much information and hope you have brought to me through your videos. I had prediabetes before which i reversed through lifestyle changes but now I am pregnant and diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes. I felt so ashamed sharing my 3 hr glucose test numbers - 1 hr was 220 and 2 hrs was 170 which means i failed miserably. Now with strict diet and lifestyle I got most of my numbers down, also taking tiny dose of insulin. But fasting has been impossible to get down.

      Thank you for sharing part of your story! No need to feel shame, though I understand it COMPLETELY. I can't remember if I shared my glucose test in the video above but mine was 211 @ 1 hour and 169 @ 2 hours so I'm right there with you. And this was when I was only 7 or 8 weeks pregnant! While on metformin! Wishing you and baby all the health and well wishes! ❤

    No one knows the daily mental anguish that Gestational Diabetes moms go through, and the fear we feel every morning, meal, and snack time. I hope this video helps you feel a little less alone knowing that there is a whole community of strong moms behind you that are going through the exact same thing!

    Thank you for sharing this. Very helpful because I am pregnant with our first and I failed my 2nd trimester screen. Now I am monitoring 4 times a day and today I was high all across the board. I was craving sweets and did eat fruit, white rice, and some bread. I didn't get to go on a walk and I tested my body with what it could handle/ not handle today. I've learned some lessons and hopefully tomorrow will be better. I really needed this video. Thank you! Thursday I hand in my numbers for the week to the Endocrinologist. So far my fasting numbers have been slightly high and this was the first day with spikes all around.

      I love that you’ve chosen to focus on the fact that you’ve learned things about your body from this experience and that tomorrow is a new day! That’s all we can do, even though our mom brains want to beat ourselves up over and over. Good luck and congrats on your little one! Hope you can find all the support you need on this crazy journey.

    My highest so far is 211 at the 1 hour mark, and what I ate was pad thai. I panicked and called my diabetes nurse right away. She advised me to drink plenty of water and take a walk. At the 2 hour mark it dropped down to 140. Ever since then I’ve been watching more closely what I eat. And no more pad thai or white rice for me for now. 😆

      I’m so thankful that you’re sharing your numbers, too! It makes all of us feel less alone! 211 was what I got on my 3 hour glucose tolerance test 😣

    Recently my health care provider said to me I'm diagnosed with GD I was very scared.. After meal my blood auger won't spike at 1 or 2 hour mark but my fasting blood sugar is way higher, currently I'm 26 week pregnant and my highest fasting blood sugar reading was 126. I eat healthy but unable to balance my fasting glucose please help.😢😢😢

      @thegoodenoughmama  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      GD is so frustrating! I'd definitely ask your healthcare provider what to do. I didn't have the same issues with fasting numbers so I can't share my experience on that. I know it's so hard but you can do it. Keep fighting!

    did your levels return to normal after birth?

    • @thegoodenoughmama

      My last a1c was 5.3 but when I check my blood sugar after higher carb meals, my blood sugar is sky high. So no, I don't think it's returned back to normal after birth :(

      @@thegoodenoughmama Hey, first of all thanks so much for your videos on GD! 😊 Do you know your levels before pregnancy? I have watched videos by "healthy" individuals and some foods cause huge spikes in them as well.

    I just found out a couple of days ago I have GD. I’ve been able to control it but I just wanted to see what watermelon did to me and an hour later my sugar was 155!! So no watermelon for me. Please keep making these videos! Very informative. I’m noticing I am limiting my carbs A LOT but I’m just scared. So an hour after I eat my sugar is low 90’s and low 80’s. I just have to find a balance. I’m just scared to spike my sugar and hurt baby. If you have suggestions please let me know! Because I wonder if cutting back my carbs could hurt baby?

    • @thegoodenoughmama
      @thegoodenoughmama  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would try having some fat/protein first before your watermelon! It'll probably make a huge difference. Often, our bodies can tolerate carbs much better when we pair it with fat and protein. For example, if you're going to eat apples, eat it with peanut butter. Or if you're going to eat crackers, pair it with cheese. If you haven't read Real Food for Gestational Diabetes by Lily Nichols, I highly recommend it. She is a dietician who specializes in GD and has found tons of research to suggest that the standard carb recommendations for GD treatment is too high and cutting back a little is ok for our babies.
      Thanks so much for watching, and you've got this! You can do it!

      I totally feel you! I was able to eventually come to terms with letting rice go because I was horrified about what it was doing to my body. But I do still enjoy sushi from time to time. It’s too good!
