When Ben and Adam were in Chicago trying to get the steal, they noted Elvis had performed at Chicago Stadium but brushed that off since they couldn’t get into a stadium. However Chicago Stadium was demolished and is now a parking lot as its replacement the United Center is across the street. They were 2 miles away from this spot when they were at Union Station and would’ve had a good shot of getting to it before Sam and Michelle claimed the steal while still making their train
I guess they were trying to do more research when they sat on the stairway, noticed they were just starting to do their research in the coffee shop ... it would have been a panic. And will never have thought that the place is now a parking lot

Just goes to show how tight these games can get-also the fact that the game was this close despite Ben and Adam starting with a massive disadvantage and getting two plane tickets stolen from them is a testament to how much better at game strategy they are than Sam. I love both his vibe and just the look of joy on Ben's face as he explores the sleeper train. Regardless of who you root for, I just love seeing them have a good time traveling and Ben is giving me so much of that, no matter their situation.
USA generally gets me down, the poor working conditions and treatment of low wage workers but the odd enthusiastic employee gives me a small ray of hope.

I actually like The Flop. The idea of being able to choose between 4 tickets and your desired mode of transportation sounds way better then being forced to do one ticket you didn’t want and being given a penalty if you fail it
Yeah but i do think it needs some changes to stop them burning through tickets like they did here. It could be as strickt as "an attained ticket has to be used, it can not be replaced with a newly obtained one" or maybe have a 30 min- 1h penalty for getting rid of a card on your hand. Because the way it was in the video there really is no downside to the flop. You can burn through things as quickly as you want (withing realms of possibility obvi) and you don't ever get in a situation where you can't complete at least 1 challenge so there really is no punishing aspect. Dk of what im saying is making a lot of sense but i basically think the flop is a great idea but too overpowered as of right now.

@@TheCodysbiggestfan Another fix for the flop is that the teams have no idea what tickets could come up in the flop, so they don't know if it's worth it to burn through challenges, it's a risk they would have to take bc if nothing good is there, they just wasted a bunch of time
@@GreenAxolotI yeah that's definitely another option that could work but then you would need a completely uninvolved 3rd party to come up with all of the challenges and rewards. Simply because if you know a steal exists, which they do since they created the game, even if you don't know when it could come up, if you have no useful cards at all it would still make sense burning thorugh challenges. That's probably logistically a bit more difficult to do, especially since you won't have any of the 3 be able to say when a challenge wouldn't work for whatever reason which could be a little risky.
@@TheCodysbiggestfan Forcing them to use their cards would definitely make for a more zany race, but I don't know how cost-effective it is for Sam, lol.
I hope for an upcoming season with 3 teams with Team Adam, Team Ben and Team Sam with one guest each.

The money issue would be less of a problem in Europe or Japan, especially if it is a tag-style game or a smaller country. America is big and flying is expensive.
I hope they someday have enough funding to make this happen - with this format Adam and Ben have the upper hand because Sam has to adjust to a new guest every season

I was wondering exactly that. Was there a specific reason why they didnt simply get off in Pittsburgh? For their flight they wouldve had to go back there anyway I think so they effectively just lost ~1.5 hours by not getting off there.
@@ForeverDayGreen It was explained that it's because the rest period wasn't over by when they would've gotten to Pittsburgh, so they couldn't get off there.

Jet lag is honestly so underrated. The amount of effort that goes into these videos are amazing, and the fact that that only have half a million subscribers is a crime. Keep up the great work guys 💯
In earlier seasons, stealing was overpowered because it was relatively easy to activate and use steals, which led to a lot of steal and steal back scenarios. The audience (rightly) suggested that re-stealing should be outlawed. However, in this game, the steal cards are fairly rare and mostly pretty difficult to use. Also, the nature of the game makes affecting the other players harder than some previous games. As such, I think in this particular game, it might have actually been a good idea to have re-steals be legal.

Quite honestly, I've been really soured on Ben and Adam, both from just how lucky they've been constantly getting, and from the attitude the rest of the fanbase that stan Ben and Adam have had towards Sam, I swear to God, if you go back at some of the older seasons and look at the comments, you'd think Sam went and killed their whole family with how they treat him in the comments.

Ben and Adam make everything fun. They want to win but they always seem to have a good time at it and enjoy smelling the roses as they move along. Would really enjoy this even more if Sam's content would also include him taking a minute and enjoying the places he goes along. Winning at all costs is not as much fun as wanting to win but wanting to share enjoyment of the trip.

@@gracechen6010 I don't believe it's tag, the two tag seasons already included Switzerland (or at least parts of it) and I don't really see why they would make the game board smaller(?) Hide and Seek makes much more sense with that map of movements shown in one shot. I imagine there is no permanent tracker, but the one hiding has to leave clues or do challenges exposing him (if he wants to move), so the detectives can eventually track and catch him.
47:58 is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen. The way Michelle just goes somewhere else and the trophy lands in another place
My one suggestion for future seasons like this one would be having stolen card immunities expire after a certain period of time (12 hours or it cycles past a second rest period). While it was good strategy, it felt off having Ben and Adam be able to do nothing about the neighboring state flight, as them getting a steal would have literally done nothing. It's part of the game, and Sam+Michelle definitely earned the win, but it would be nice to incentivize using stolen cards sooner.
I think the immunity running out could be a good idea, I don’t think it would’ve made a difference for this season though. Firstly, cause they didn’t need to be incentivised to use it, the flight they stole it for was just sold out and they weren’t able to. And secondly, Ben and Adam thought they’d already used the neighbouring state flight (for the flight that was sold out, lol) and that they had no cards worth stealing so I doubt it would’ve changed their plan in any way.
I do wonder if it wouldve been possible for Ben and Adam to do the steal card (it seems to be luck if you’re in a location where they’re possible to complete). If they had gotten the steal they could’ve had a car a lot earlier and potentially made it impossible for Sam and Michelle to get to Atlanta in time for their flight. Have no idea if it was not possible to complete where they were or if they just didn’t think Sam and Michelle had a car card.
Or maybe adding a copy card would be interesting (instead of immunity running out), definitely prefer immunity to when they were able to be immediately stolen back though.
@@Veralidiane Even if they didn’t know, the problem is that Sam and Michelle ended with a fully immune hand with steals still available, so the steals were completely useless to Ben+Adam yet completely worthless to Sam+Michelle. That’s why I think 12 hours of immunity is still better than no immunity but runs less of a risk of a situation like we saw. Maybe even add a super steal that doesn’t care about immunity available for the last day but is a much harder challenge than normal.
Haha, I agree the 12 hours of immunity could be a good idea, was not arguing that. I just hated when they could be immediately stolen back so anything is preferable to that for me.
I still think the steal system worked fine for this game though and adjusting it wouldn’t have changed anything other than Michelle’s stress levels.
They didn’t have a fully immune hand when the steal came up, they still had a car card that could’ve been stolen which would’ve made it very difficult for them to get to Atlanta and was exactly what Ben and Adam needed to get out of Connellsville. So either they didn’t realise Sam and Michelle had a car card, they couldn’t do the steal where they were or using it just for sabotage never occurred to them (they never mention the steal at all so who knows why they didn’t, sounds like a bad place to be trying to do challenges though). Either way, could’ve been very useful to Ben and Adam and it’s debatable about how worthless it would’ve been to Michelle and Sam (cause the car, and Michelle was clearly concerned about it at that point).
I guess I’m also wondering… does it matter how useful something is if it doesn’t even occur to a team that it could be used that way? Because once they were in the car, we knew a steal would be useless but Ben and Adam didn’t and they never tried for it regardless.
@@Veralidiane It’s bad design if you can run into a situation where a team has an uninterruptible route right at the finish, when steals are part of the game. That’s where the problem comes in, sure they didn’t think of it but it would have felt much, much worse if they got the steal after the car was used and got told “Too bad, both of these were stolen so they’re immune”. It’s one of those things where having the sight of the viewer can point out a flaw in the system that should be fixed in order to avoid things feeling much worse in the future. It wouldn’t be a conversation if Sam and Michelle used all of their tickets before the steal came up, but the fact that a steal can be a waste of time for the team that can use it to make up time is a problem.
It’s just like how instant steal-backs are bad design and a problem. I won’t mind if they keep fully immune stolen tickets but the opportunity to fix it before it becomes a problem isn’t something to ignore.
Hmm, I feel like we’re kinda discussing two different things entirely and that we actually agree on the main points, haha (your purely talking game design and I’m talking about this one specific game). I agree that it’s a design flaw and I’d definitely like to see how they improve it for future games that have steals included.
For this one game, I’m happy with the way it ended up working.
In terms of entertainment value, I honestly would’ve found it really entertaining if they had tried to steal something, were completely unable to and suddenly realised just how much trouble they were in (would’ve enjoyed it as much as when they couldn’t find Ben in the Photo Booth, lol, or when they pulled the curse to send Sam and Toby inland in NZ). I love it when plans get foiled by the teams actions/strategy whatever it may be (it was a flaw but both teams knew about it going in so it falls under strategy and mind games for me). Because there is so much luck involved in how successful they are (Eg delayed/sold out flights, are they in a city Elvis has been, or earlier seasons when trains were cancelled last minute, or what was supposed to be a massive lead from the ferry turned into nothing cause of delays), anytime a strategy pays off I enjoy it regardless of who succeeded or how much they played the system to do so. It just feels better when it’s because of choices they made and not things completely out of their control which happens so often.
The timing the sleeper train thing was very interesting. Would love to see a season where traveling on sleeper trains overnight is a core mechanic.

Agreed. Future American seasons should heavily incentivize using non-plane/car travel, as that just makes for a more unique and interesting game.

Steals are overpowered because for the price of completing one task you get a ticket of your choice AND you get to cancel the task the other team completed.
Feel like either the steal should be random, not choice OR instead of stealing you destroy a ticket (that way it's one task for cancelling another task)
Cards not being able to be double stolen is ridiculous. Obviously the most powerful cards will be stolen so the steals are so much more valuable than everything else if they can be stolen back
I've used "Hey, I'm doing this weird thing..." a handful of times on strangers and surprisingly it has always turned out fascinating them or at the least making them laugh. This season has made me convinced this is the norm, rather than random chance. Don't be scared to do somewthing crazy once in a while! Thank you for the entertainment and can't wait for the next season.
I want to see a race where you must use every mode of transportation. I want to see ben and Adam biking between cities.
There's a board game called Scotland Yard where players have to chase another player across London with a limited number of tickets for each method of transportation, so each method definitely gets used as the game goes on. Would love to see something like that on jetlag.

I just want to share an idea for an upcoming season, or as an inspiration maybe. I'm from the Netherlands and here, our biggest youtubers 'StukTV' came up with 'Roadtrippers' 10 years ago, where you race to get the furthest possible from the starting point with only a small emergency budget at the beginning, so you depend on the hospitality of others. They did multiple iterations of this idea, but the first few seasons have the best concept in my opinion. I'm just so sorry for the other team spending Sams money haha

incredibly deserved win by sam and michelle but MAN did ben and adam play a smart game, if only luck had been on their side just a little bit more! loved the gameplay mechanics this season, the combination of strategy and chance can be hard to master but y'all really nailed it this time around (loved the addition of the flop)!!!

@@notcarte Not just solely due to the Elvis card, but because both of their final cards were stolen so they were immune. While it's annoying, it's part of the game, but I just think that a stolen card should have the immunity expire if it's not used within a certain period of time. The card being straight immune just feels wrong, kind of like how screen peeking in split screen games feels wrong.

The variety of transport in this season was honestly incredible! Even just having to drive between two different airports - it really made it one of the best and most interesting Jet Lag seasons yet!!
Michelle is a phenomenal guest this season! I’ve always been rooting for Sam because he’s been the unlucky underdog. Michelle is a great partner to tone down Sam’s risk taking tendencies. The way to win Jet Lag is an ironclad plan with a bit of luck here and there!

Sam may have won, but Ben and Adam always seem to have way more fun and are thus way more entertaining to watch. Michelle was a delightful guest and fit in perfectly!
Memorising everywhere gave me a flashback to the Okaihau Express, though that was a lot more miserable than this.
