Ben immediately calling that Adam is in the mountains is hilarious
On top of that immediately calling that Adam would be in the castle
If you know someone and he does logic stuff, its easy. But big part of south-east Swis is mountains. Only a strip not from Geneve, Bern, Zurich to Sankt Gallen. Even often still a bit hill'ish.
tbf it's kinda hard to be in Switzerland without being near some mountains.
@@Sunfurianwhich makes it funnier because Ben’s statement is pretty obvious
And I bet you’re in your mom’s basement.
“Mountainous and wealthy” is not narrowing anything down in Switzerland
lol
It kinda does though
I live in switzerland and let me tell you that rich certainly doesn't narrow anything down, but i'd say only about 2-5% of the population lives in any kind of mountainous terrain. 90% of people live in the cities of basel, bern and zürich or geneva which aren't mountainous at all. In fact, mountainous villages are really few so mountainous really does narrow things down.
@@relevanttopics2923 It's not 90%. 75% live on the plateau, not 90%.
Now if you mean literally on mountains then yeah, bit if a mountainous region counts then it's still 1/4 of the population who lives in region with hills and mountains
HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TO SWIZERLAND
Funny Story: the small bridge you can see passing over the Schöllenen gorge at 17:53 is called the devil’s bridge. Legend has it the people of uri asked the devil for help in constructing the bridge since it was in such a difficult location. The devil agreed under the condition that he‘d get to claim the first soul that will pass the bridge. After the construction the people of Uri tricked the devil by sending a goat over it. The devil was furious and tried to smash it with a stone, but whilst trying to carry it up to the bridge an old lady painted a cross on it so the devil couldn’t carry it anymore and had to flee. The supposed rock can be seen further down the gorge.
My grandparents town in France has a similar devil bridge buildign story only the people of the town used the devil's skills to build a fortified bridge in order to keep out other devils. (the Br*t*sh-it was the hundred years war). the Architect wh#agered his own soul to damnation unless the devil could carry out every building order given and when the devil failed to carry water from the river to the highest tower in a seive. He knew he'd been played. To get his revenge the Devil could keep stealing a corner stone from the stop of the tower every night, but the architect had the stone blessed by the local bishop and the next time the devil tried it was turned to stone and the stone devil remains there to this day as a lesson that neither the invaders nor their hellish masters were able to take the town.
17:43 for anyone clicking and missing it like me
very cool!!!
Another fun fact: When building a new highway, said stone was in the way, so they moved it over a few meters, which is no small feat considering it ways about 2000 tons.
Fun fact i live there.
"what should i throw at you?"
"something softer than the other apple"

I was literally just watching that part as I read this! 😅
It's so funny as well because it looks at first as if he's looking up and praying for a few seconds...but then he just breaks down into rambling on about trains schedules!

The curse graphics being the different tools of a Swiss Army knife is so well-done and clever
27:14 I just went to Switzerland a couple months ago, and when I was in Andermatt I remember this exact vending machine! I was fascinated by the variety of items in it. That’s the vending machine you go when you really need energy drinks, condoms, waffles, lighters, capri sun, and a pregnancy test at the same time.
Everything you'd need for a Saturday night out and the day after
That’s so funny
There are definitely some interesting vending machines here in Switzerland. Partly, I think, because everything closes early and is closed on Sundays, or can be relatively remote. There are farms with eggs/milk/preserves/cheese vending machines, butcher shops with meat vending machines, and of course your regular staples.
Haha honestly, that‘s most vending machines in Switzerland. Some even have phone chargers!
isn't that basically how all vending machines are?
Adam gambling in a church is peak Jet Lag content...
In a church Adam!?! It's where Jesus gets his mail!

I mean Catholicism is pretty much the only Christian detomination that tolerates gambling "for fun"
i like your keyboards
the ben and adam bond is too strong that it's an advantage for ben lol
I know right! Ben took one look at that castle and was like “There…”
Let's see if it goes the other way too...
Ben is definitely getting half an hour or a full hour ahead of Adam.
Adam is logical and game-goal-focused so he can be predicted. Ben is logical but not game-goal-focused. you can never tell which goal will cause Ben to move unless you are with him when the decision is made. It could be the game, it could be food.
Maybe that'll end up being Sam's advantage in the game, because the two can't use telepathy to determine his location.
love your guys' videos in general but also i have to specifically give you a big Thank You for your closed captions: a lot of creators won't bother with them and instead just make people use the auto-generated ones, but not only do you guys have fully accurate captions, they're even color coded to make it easier to tell whos talking. really really grateful for those
Love to hear and see it! more creators should opt to use non-generated captions (perferabele even OC if possible), i'm blind so personally I love that this shows has allot of sound design (music and beeps and more), voice-overs that explain things and great dialogue. But that they are color coded that's smart, question are the subtitles also color coded to the color Ben, Adam and Sam have in the game (if I'm correct they have a leader board color, or otherwise maybe the color of their sweaters/jackets?
Yesss it one of the reasons I love this channel so much! ❤
I had no clue you could even have colored subtitles! Wild
@@kimberlybrinkhuis pretty cool to see that people with disabilities enjoy this show!
it's stuff that people without these disabilities often don't even notice as much.
I usee to work as a caregiver for a person with cerebral palsy and I started noticing so many things that I was mostly ignorant about. it's great and important to learn about these things
Great to hear, AD: audio description is a great way to make video's accessible for the blind, this show doesn't have it but luckily there are many auditory things like Sam's voice over with the explanation and the sound effects, for those people who are hard of hearing or deaf captions are great even better if they are OC meaning they are already in the video. To be honest many able body people seem to be very unaware of those with disabilities, even about the Accessible features that already are there, way to often do I still hear people say "oh that's what those tactile lines everywhere are for" when they see me use my white cane on them, for them it was just normal and never thought about it again (:@@jurgnobs1308
I just love Adam walking around not stressed in a random Swiss town looking at Christmas decorations and talking to himself. Very different energy from tag where everyone is in a hurry.
The shot of the castle being revealed behind Ben’s umbrella was beautiful
Having them hide where Adam was made me, and probably many others keep looking for the landmarks we'd seen to know if they were in the right spot. It was nice they were aware of that and made it a big reveal. Maybe it was because it was where he was hiding but still great.
@@nolansaylor7710yeah it's fun to follow along with the mystery

Ben opting to take the thrown objects to the face rather than turning around and taking it to the back made me giggle 😂
It's in the spirit of William Tell!
I know they weren't throwing anything hard, but I still would have taken my glasses off in his position 😄
I love the editing from “it looks dry” straight to “it’s wet!”
The key strategy was "Dont slip and die" and the first thing he did was climbing a slippery tower
which he notably did not slip and die on
And the dice slipped off
What he said is don't slip _and die._ As long as he doesn't do the dying part, he's good.
Fair enough
In an alternate universe a video is submitted to america's funniest home videos of him saying "dont slip and die, dont slip and die" then he slips and dies.
The question menu is an awesome game mechanic
It’s definitely the most complex game mechanic yet
I like that it's less luck-based than drawing cards.
Considering how many bunkers Switzerland has, this manhunt could have, by design, lasted decades.
Fun Fact that Adam gets the Willhelm Tell curse when he's in Uri, as the myth takes place in (mostly) this canton 😂.
The joy of seeing a new season of Jet Lag in your subscription feed! Love the new game and the suspense, this is going to be a great season!
Agreed.
Yep
Yes
it's even better seeing on your nebula subscription :)
Adam is gonna win this season. I think. If you pause at 1:01, you would see that based on the colour stripes of the leaderboard, Adam wins, Ben comes second and Sam comes last. Idk.
Who are Ben's outfitters? I'm honestly interested: the guy dresses like a JRPG character in every one of these things *and he actually makes it work every time!*
he often wears lucy and yak
would you be willing to describe his outfit? I'm blind and know he usually dresses with cool color combinations, and love design and fashion. Thanks in advance (:
@@horcrux87 that's the one brand with bold colorblock and patterns right? what rainbow color combination is he wearing in this vid?
@@kimberlybrinkhuis this time he is dressed in all white. unusual for him but I find it very fitting to be able to hide in the snow (here's hoping there will be a little more snow then rain going forward...). He's wearing white dungarees that are more form-fitting than his usual pants, a white fleece underneath and a white jacket. his boots are brown. he's also wearing a white hat
Ben is wearing a jetlag baseball cap (though his icon in the game is wearing a white knitted hat), white puffy jacket, white pants, and sneakers.
I think he is also wearing a brown turtleneck shirt
I love the concept of this season. It feels less rushed and more methodical. I'd like a bit more clarification on some of the game concepts though:
Early in the episode it is established that there is a 30min cooldown for each question category, yet later in the episode the 3 questions from the precision category don't follow that rule. Is there an exception for that category?
How does the hider's zone and hiding spot work? Seems like the zone is locked in from the start but the actual hiding spot can be chosen at any later point before seekers arrive in the zone, as Adam was deliberating over his spot during the episode?
Is the hider forbidden from answering the oddball and photo category questions once the seekers are in the hider's zone or can the hider answer them if it can be done without moving from the hiding spot?
Based on the infographic, I assume each question can be asked only once?
I don't mean to sound nitpicky. It's just that understanding the ruleset makes following the players' chosen tactics even more interesting :)
I have all these exact same questions as well.
At least one or two of these questions are answered in episode 2
The cooldown for precision questions is only 10 minutes; the rest of the categories are 30 minutes. The rest of your assumptions are correct (they have a design-of-game podcast episode on nebula)
Also, how do the seekers earn coins? Do they have a limit? Why are they concerned with how much they spend?
@@jordypordy1586 I don't think they have a limit, but the more they give the hider the more coins the hider has to curse them so i think they're just trying to prevent higher scoring curses
The dramatic zoom in at 29:39 is so hilarious and perfectly timed! 😂😂
Thank you saying so. I was hoping someone else would notice it. I thought it was do cool
Finally in Switzerland! Damn, this concept is really different from before but I am here for it. Also please give the graphic team a raise, they do an incredible job everytime.
I believe Ben and Adam do all the editing, probably with some help, but the two of them truly make the series from beginning to end. They create the rules, plan pretty much everything, play the games and then edit afterwards, it's their baby even more than Sam's. Sam more just tags along in between his other projects and does the narration
@@BendyDH They are credited in the caption as editors alongside three others. They edit some of it, but not all. And the motion graphics are credited to another group of five people. :)
@@BendyDH you really just made all that up huh?

This is my first time watching your channel. I honestly think production/editing is actually insane, it makes everything so easy to follow. Also, imagine if they got (maybe not a whole team of them) but like extra cameramen following their movements. Perhaps specifically getting an extra person following the hider, could make the videos more interesting cause there would be more interactions occurring. Anyway, keep up the good work!

I love that Ben is rocking a green Ok.- Umbrella. Such a stable of the swiss fashion
After 15 years, finally TH-cam algorithm made me discover something amazing!
Very different vibes from previous seasons! Much more chill, partly due to editing and partly due to the more strategy-based game
The apple bit was incredible 😂 The miss followed by Sam’s groans killed me
Hilarious that that was the challenge that Sam was talking shit about and then it took them like seven tries. Also I think Ben might have tipped the apple off his own head trying to not get hit in the face.
Sam finding another reason to throw things at his employees.
The jacket “hit” was dubious though.
The montage of various fruits flying at Ben's face has me cackling.
Can we just talk about how BEAUTIFUL Switzerland is!?! WOW!!
and all within reach of public transport
The crazy thing is that I live there
I feel like Ben (and Sam when it’s his turn) shouldve gotten a tiny extra head start, just 10/15 mins, because Adam got to start in a good place whereas Ben and Sam have to start at the previous person hiding spot, Ben probably spent like 10 minutes just getting down that castle and hill 🤣😭
Eh, but it also means in such an obscure place, getting out for the seekers is tougher
@@AlpacaStorm that is true but rn you essentially get punished for how good the last persons hiding spot was whearas if you had a little extra time the person responsible for getting you to that spot is one of the people punished for it (along with the other seeker)
yeah... a tactic could be to wedge yourself into a spot with extremely limited transport options, and count on being able to find the other two again and again quickly
Or maybe offer a reset at the nearest bigger city and start from there together
maybe start the timer from a nearby train station
Ben has remarkably good intuition about Adam's hiding spots! 😅

Being in Switzerland but sticking to use miles and feet. So American.
17:45 that's the Teufelsbrücke, the devil's bridge. It is said that the people of Andermatt made a deal with the devil to build them a bridge, because the valley was so deep, steep and treacherous that they couldn't do it. In exchange, the devil would get the soul of the first one to cross the bridge. So after it was built, the people of Andermatt gathered on their side of the bridge, while the devil waited on the other.
And then they sent a goat across.
17:43 Damn! You're right, that is quite breathtaking.
Switzerland is a beautiful country, and i'm glad you guys decided to make a dedicated season in the country. Keeping the play area relatively small also gives you more time to truly explore and experience in full detail the places you travel to, which is a really nice addition and i really appreciate that!
This might just turn up to be the Best season yet!
You should really do Norway/Sweden the next time you make a European Tag. Both countries have open borders with amazing public transport (trains, busses, trams, metros). And the North and South, in both countries, are so completely different. Just Google it. You'd love it, and I think everyone else would love it too! Sam really knows how to keep this interesting. Feels like last season just ended! I wasn't expecting this so soon. I feel truly spoiled.
I love ben so much. He's now like my new favorite internet personality.
Recently started watching these! As someone who needs them, the caption quality on these is amazing! Really wish more people put that much effort into making their content more accessible. Keep up the GREAT work!
It's incredible how the presentation and graphics still get so much better every season. Easily the nicest produced show on youtube!
Can already say that this is probably my favourite version, just because it's paced slower. You don't just rush from place to place, you more or less travel or stay at a certain place giving more options to just present the country.
Personally, the only thing that I think could need a bit of rework regarding balancing is how much time hiders get to get to their spot. Adam had it the best. He was in a bigger town with a lot of potential trains in all possible directions. So the seekers had to waste time in the beginning figuring out which way he went. And even if he didn't get the train, he could just take another one to gain distance. With Ben now, he doesn't have these many options, so the search has a bit of a head start AND Ben might have to wait for a train to arrive. I feel, giving Ben a bit more time to balance this out would make the most sense.
I see the point and its not fair, but the disadvantages of getting few trains is the same disadvantage for the seekers. If they take the only train in the wrong direction they are screwed, as well as they most likely won’t know its the wrong direction for a long time…
@@fwieland
Not really, because the seekers now have the advantage that they have to take into account far less trains to even consider. For example, they know when Ben started, how long he likely took to the train station and what trains were arriving. Based from that, your guess becomes far more likely the less trains even go through this station. That is not even including the fact that they can also guess the direction more likely, because if you are already in the south east, going further south east might be discouraged because they can figure that one out easily with just the first two questions and therefore get most of the map cleared quickly as well (they can ask the first question when they start and the second after 5 minutes that they have to take anyway for getting back to the train station).
Tbh, I at least hope that the seekers are not allowed to check trains prior to them starting their search. Because in that case, their guess in such small towns can become even more likely.
At the end of the day, I think the better approach for this game would be that they get back to their "home base" everytime someone was found. After all, they probably want to make sure that no one gets additional tries (for example, it would be kind of unfair if at the end, only Adam had one extra try due to being the first one to hide). Therefore, just saying, everyone gets to hide twice or thrice with the start being at the same location for all three would be the best. Because then, they could also plan out beforehand, where they want to go and aren't as restricted by where they found the last person.
@@Modie. They talked about it on their podcast. And they want the previously run to inpact the next. So it feel more connected. Also they admit it is not 100 procent fair. But they unfairness balance kinda out. Like in tag. Ben got a hour advantages from rest periodes. Moreover if you wanted to get rid of that the rules would get overly complicated.
24:02 if you slo-mo it, you can see that the apple started falling before the jacket made impact
No need to slow-mo it to see it. I am not sure that the jacket would have knocked the apple off. 😅
I think it would've still hit even if the apple wasn't falling off
