I made a hat with waste yarn on one end and forgot waste yarn on other side, how do I fix this?

@@AlinaHeraDesigns Thank you for answering so fast. Do I not have to sew or crochet together the main colour wool then remove the waste yarn and then pull on my main colour piece of yarn and gather just like the side where I have no waste yarn.?

@@dianelap67 if you remove the waste yarn before you sew or crochet the main color, then all the stiches will unravel because they are "live stitches". It is hard to answer to your main question without a picture of your hat :). ( I don't know if you have waste yarn just for the cast on/off , or if you have knitted couple of rounds with waste yarn. Anyway, do not remove the waste yarn before you secure the main yarn.

@@AlinaHeraDesigns sorry, the waste yarn on my hat is the first thing I did, 12 rows of waste yarn, then the hat, then I cast off using a needle and one by one I secured the stitches, that part is easy I can just pull on the yarn after and it closes the hat. Its the beginning of the hat with the waste yarn, I think I saw that you can secure your stitches one by one with a needle and a piece of yarn, then pull on that piece of yarn and cinch the hat just like I did on the end of the hat. Can I do that? Thanks for being so patient with me. I love your video on waste yarn and will listen to them again and again...

I have just tried this method and the whole hat basically fell apart in my hands when I took out the waste yarn.

I'm not sure which method you used, but usually for an hat you don't need waste yarn (just if you make a ponytail or cat hat). If you use waste yarn, you have to secure the live stitches by closing the tube with slip stitch, single crochet , or to cinch the tube; otherwise your project will unravel.
