Should you buy the iPad Air 4 and the M1 Mac Mini? A lot of users immediately jump to higher-end models, but Today I’m going to tell why the #M1MacMini and the #iPadAir4 are a perfect combo for someone who’s looking for performance at a great value. I’m also going to talk about why I think these two devices compliment each-other so well and why the iPad Air 4 is my favorite accessory for the Mac Mini.
There are more powerful options from #apple, and if you’re editing 8K video on your desktop or if you want more portable power - then you should look at other options.
But if you’re an everyday user who still wants that extra performance so you can play around with photo and video editing, and do everything from browsing the web, streaming movies and music, doing typical office-type work and even some mobile gaming, these are all you need.

What's up everyone?! I hope this M1 Mac Mini and iPad Air 4 video was helpful. Did I cover what you wanted to know? What else did you want to see or learn about?
Would love to know what you think. Is this a pair of products that you would buy? Would you rather get an iMac or an iPad Pro?

Thank you, geat video! I just bought both of these a week ago (first computer purchases in 7 years) so very satisfying to know I was on the right track! Curious about using Luna display to enable headless (or at least untethered) use of Mac mini while at home but not at my desk. Is this realistic now? Would love some clarification about the distinctions between sidecar, universal control, and Luna display. Thanks again!

M1 iPad’s capabilities is worse than underutilized, it’s actually being capped by iPad OS. Believe me, I’m lusting after the 12.9” iPad, but I can wait until the software catches up to the hardware. With that in mind, I’m leaning heavily towards the basic iPad (with 128 GB storage) until then. With the money saved, the Mac Mini looks like it will take up the slack.

That’s the exact setup that I have for my home office :) I’m really happy with the performance of the M1 on the Mac Mini. It hasn’t disappoint and I usually have tons of browser tabs, Powerpoint windows, Excel spreadsheets, Microsoft Outlook, Mail, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Spotify and random apps running all at the same time. And when I need to move around, I’ll grab my iPad Air and continue working as most of the apps that I use daily are cloud-based productivity apps. The Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil are great accessories to ensure that I can still be as productive as when I am at my work desk. I love how everything just works cohesively.

The problem with the iPad Air is storage. It only makes sense with 64GB. Once you upgrade to 256GB, it's better to get the 11'' iPad Pro with 128GB for $50 more.

As a new owner of an iPad Air 4 and also looking to buy a M1 Mac Mini, this video caught my interest. I'm curious about the sidecar stuff and how that would be of use. I'll mostly be using the Mini to compile XCode and am primarily considering the 16gb ram version to make sure it'll be useful for the next 5 years or so. Waiting to see if there are any Prime Day sales.
Bought the tomtoc carrying case for the Air 4 after watching your other video.. thanks for the suggestion. I'm torn on the Magic Keyboard as I mostly use the iPad for drawing and rarely would be typing anything.

I have a Mac mini and iPad Air 4 and they work really well together. I do most of my work at my desk with the mini and have the iPad as a second screen where I’ll have things like emails and calendar. I didn’t need the features of the iPad Pro but I went for the 256gb air because 64 is not enough. Even though the step up to iPad Pro isn’t much more, I just didn’t need it the features so its better to have the extra storage and money. I was using a 2012 MacBook Air and needed an upgrade for uni. The Mac mini is perfect for a student, especially last year with so much studying from home, there just wasn’t a need to go for a laptop. Waiting for the new MacBook Air instead, fingers crossed for either a return of MagSafe or a third USBC.

I’ve been sketching in the same 12” iPad Pro for a long time …. Just Wondering if softwares like toonboom work as they do on iMac , also if Apple Pencil can be used to draw on screen as usual

My perfect Combo: M1 iPad Pro 11” and iMac 27” 2019,
+ I have cheap windows Laptop in case If I need some windows app, but in reality I never use my laptop anymore.
I think iPad + Mac mini really great combo, or just iPad + some desktop computer.
For most cases ipad much more portable and comfortable than MacBook, so iPad great for some light and easy work + games and entertainment, web browsing.
And for heavy focused work much better to work at the desk / table, and for this purpose Mac mini or iMac suits perfectly.

I am currently using a mid-2014 Macbook Pro and Wacom tablet. I do plenty of photography edits and occasional video edits using Capture One and Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects respectively. I plan to upgrade but am unable to decide between the iMac or Mac Mini. To go with the Mac Mini, I would need to get a monitor, keyboard, mouse, video cam (unless I use my Fujifilm X-T4), and speakers. I am wondering if it is still a worthy option versus getting the iMac. What would be your recommendation?

I have seen your section on using SIDECAR, with this option will you be able to connect two iPads? It would be very good if you made that video on how to expand the screen by adding an iPad

ipad air 4 and 5 are superb devices. the only misgiving is that they don't have a 128gb model but it's definitely still a pro tool and sort of makes the case for a ipad pro a little unnecessary.

For the purpose of using the iPad as a second monitor for my computer - do you have recommend spending a few more bucks to use iPad Pro? Or do you think it'll be completely alright for my normal office work and note taking with an iPad Air 4?
    I don't game, I don't do graphic designs
My budget can cover 256GB iPad Air 4 and 128GB iPad Pro. I imagine I can go for 256GB iPad Air 4, just want to know if I should lose some of the storage to go for better "power" on iPad Pro as a second monitor

I'm stuck between whether I should get the 64GB or 256GB for iPad Air 4. I'll mostly be using it for college note-taking, some digital illustrations, procreate, and other post secondary projects. It would be really nice if u were to make a video on this and really break it down. Also, if paying for wifi + cellular would be worth the money? Thanks!

This guy knows what he's talking about!! SUBSCRIBED! After spending many hours comparing the pros and cons of various iMac models, and also as a college student who isn't interested in spending 2-3k on upgrading my computer set-up, I also chose these exact two models! I purchased the Ipad air back in November, during the holidays, for about $100 off retail! So basically the pencil was free, right? I just recently picked up an M1 mini due to its cost-effectiveness. My M1 macbook pro is what I bering to class, but it was also what I used at home. Adding the M1 mini has been a game-changer, I think everyone needs a solid desktop set-up, it's not the top-of-the-line iMac but it'll do for now. Great video and great advice!

I own the Air 4 and built a Gaming PC with some older 2017-2019 hardware but damn is the PC loud and gets warm. A Mac Mini sitting right next to my Monitor to use sounds excellent for doing everything else but PC Gaming for my needs.

I’ve got just about every Apple device on the market right now via my company and I think honestly, if I had to start from scratch as an average user, based on what I’ve seen, my employees need from a technology perspective, I would go with an M2, MacBook Air, and a iPad mini six.
The MacBook can do everything the Mac mini can do, but it can also be a grab and go solution for someone who needs to do more than what an iPad can do and the iPad mini, which I initially thought I would not like, I really enjoy for most of my content consumption and the price and performance is just right.
