    Lights are working normally so in case of a breakdown etc you can still be seen at side of road 👍🏻

    Alternator noise is probably the brush pack: these can easily be changed for about 15 pounds. (That's what it was on mine). Agree with comments about the lights below, it foxed me when I first experienced it. Car looks great!

    wonderful to see my old car back on the road again Liam . Seems strange watching you drive it, I hardly recognise it now after all the work you've done on it. It has a beautiful engine which should last you many years if you keep your speed under 130mph ....wink wink. I never realised the konis were set max hard although it was always a harsh ride. I ddo remember it cornered on rails no matter how hard or fast you turned .
    Hope the old gal gives you lots of driving pleasure for many years to come .

      Pleasure as always mate! We're finding out a lot of things about the car that are purely down to age. So the idea is now to just slowly but surely work through all those minor gripes. It should be pretty much like new by the end of 2022 I imagine!

    Those indicators while stationary are parking lights. Volkswagen does that too.

      I was confused by this on my Boxster too! Took a while to realise leaving the indicator on left the parking light on

    Lights on are Safety Option. Even when I lived in Germany in the 70's my Dad's car had them. They are parking lights for when you are stopped on a dark road. The battery pushes just enough power through the system to power them without it going flat 🤓

    Not a fault. They all do that so if you park on bad area with no street lighting, you can leave on so no one runs into your car. Well done on finally getting her going

    Correct term is voltage regulator, not brushpack! (Euro car parts, GSF etc: most people have them)

    Yes, these are parking lights. Does the Audi or VW do the same. On the Mercedes 124, for example, it is the same with the light switch.
    They even marked it.

    You've never seen parking lights? Wtf?

    • @TheBackRoads
      @TheBackRoads  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope! It's not something myself or Jared have come across prior. But after looking into it, my BMW also has it but Jared's MR2 doesn't. Perhaps a German car thing?

      @@TheBackRoads German legal requirement back in the 1980's-90's.
      Oh, and your radio antenna is the rear window heating element, if you haven't already figured it out. :-)
