Search "single din carplay" on Amazon and you'll find a few different brands/models. The one I bought is sold under several unrecognizable brands and I can't truly recommend it because it was a pain to setup, the user interface isn't great, and it's pretty laggy, but on the plus side, once it was setup, it worked every time and it connected wirelessly.
I’m a happy owner of a 1990 S2Cabriolet…I “gifted it” to myself the year that I both turned 50 AND promoted to Navy O6. That was almost 20 years ago now….my S2 still has less than 70k on the clock…she is stored 6-7 months a year (I live in New England)….and recently, I’ve debated either modernizing the car, or buying a used 911 997. Whatever I end up doing, I admire the hell out of your effort. I’m long past the patience and tools to tackle an effort of this magnitude….which all the more makes me admire your! Bravo-Zulu, we’ll done brother, very well done!!!
I knew as soon as I saw the state of your dash - or what used to be a dash! - in the first 40 seconds, this was going to be a good watch!. Cheers from UK.
I just had power locks, apple carplay, a backup camera and a new sound system installed on my 1986 N/A 944 and everything works great! Nice to see I'm not the only one "ruining" 944s
One of the biggest reasons i love my 944 so much is that everything is analog. you can’t get that in a new car nowadays no matter how much you’re willing to pay. 😅
@@artmchugh5644oh he is just hating it’s the only video he could watch while taking a deuce before the evening rush at Chipotle which means his daily driver is 1997 Honda civic or 1982 Camaro with the anemic 90hp 4 banger.
For the interior- working on a car using Corbeau seats. I bought extra seat material so I can upholster the back seat to match the front buckets, custom headliner, wrap the package tray & dash pad, and part of the door panels. It's a '70's American "Budget" sedan that sports brakes, suspension, engine & a manual gearbox that most people snicker about. It's fun
That rear quarter is going to be fun...NOT! Get a Dashmat...problem solved. Always loved the 944...had a girlfriend who had one and let me borrow it regularly. Fun drives up PCH from Ventura to Santa Barbara to go see shows at The Arlington or The Bowl...lots of great memories. YES...Toad The Wet Sprocket...Sting...Oingo Boingo...75 to 85 was such a great time in music. Good luck with your restomod.
Unfortunately I can't remember where I got the files and I'm not seeing it in my browser history. I printed it myself on a HP MJF printer and I'd be happy to sell the one I printed if you're interested :)
Way to go, Using the car instead of letting it sit. I just picked up a 924 S, hoping to get timing belt done etc and drive it daily.. I didnt understand the end of video, you selling the car or parts left. ??
sometimes I think I would be better off buying a used car and modifying it into the car I want. Then I see an image like at 0:25 and remember why im paying for a GR86 hahaha
What car play is that I have been looking for so long

@@captaincoyote1792 Thank you, it was a labor of love! A 997 and S2 are both on my bucket list to own some day, as are a 928 and 944 Turbo.

That's an awesome car. I've been a Porsche fan almost my whole life. One day I'm gonna own one, hopefully lol.
Wow what a project, beautiful car, and great video sir
Thank you!

I'd rather "ruin" a 944 than ruin a good time! I say modify your vehicles in whatever way makes you enjoy it more!

0:25 BRO youre insaneee i was shocked another mínutes!
Who woulda thought you could have made a 1983 944 interior look worse?
I like the interior on our 83 944 !!!!! What do you drive????😊😊😊😊😊

8 GRAND for plain seats...amazing.
I don't know where you buy your seats& who prices things out for you-but $8K is far too generous@@davidbutler8096
Looks good 👍🏻
Thanks!
I love modernizing things lolo specially cars, i have a 87 944s that will some cool mods lolo
If I did all that, taking the dash apart, etc. I guarantee, that car would never start again 🤣
Link to those visor clips?
I think they were these: cults3d.com/en/3d-model/gadget/sunvisor-sun-visor-bracket-clip-for-porsche-924-944-968

you could have very easily inverted that top speaker and infotainment screen position what do you think about that?
Next time!
Where did you get the blank dash for the late model 944 at 8:33

Too bad the remote switch wouldn't work. Great job bringing new life to her!
Thank you and I agree! Maybe I'll buy another project car to put it in some day, but I have some motorcycles to get to first. :)
We are almost the same person. I have an 83' 944 and a new Sequoia.
Nice choices!
Hey where did you get the yellow headlights from?
Amazon probably - search for 7" amber headlights.

yikes! Thanks for sharing. You are quite adventurous...

Ha! Where's your sense of adventure?! What I really want is a new 2024 944 GT3 RS, but that doesn't exist, so I have to make do.
What steering wheel is that?
It came with the car when I bought it, so I don't know the model number. The only identifying info on it is "MOMO Race"
man if i had the courage to fix all my wires
Wiring seems to be a common comment with this video... maybe I should sell my services 🤣
😎👍

Best way to modernize it is replace the engine.
