Well I followed this tut for repasting of cpu+gpu purposes, worked really well for me, just be carefull with cables and your good to go. Btw if anyone wants to know the out come,here it is: G751 JY runing at 2,6 ghz at peak performance (underclocked) - 97 c temp normal After applying liquid metal thermal grizzly conductonaut underclock removed, peak 3,4 ghz, all 4 cores, max temps of not more then 90. And most important no more throtling. Tnx for the vid. Very helpfull.
Interesting to know since i have the same laptop and never changed thermals and always read it was not that benefitting for it. Your comment kinda proves otherwise and ive been having some performance issues, maybe ill really deal with the trouble of doing so haha
Rayku22 well to be perfectly honest this Asus lap top is my first and last of Asus. Temps are ok now, BUT I have been playing a lot of Dying Light which is a real cpu hog. So what I have done is I limited the fps to no more then 70 since the refresh rate of display is 60 and I get smooth gameplay and cool temps, but with other games I have no prob whatsoever, they are within range of 75-85. The thing with this lap top is that the fans kick in when the cpu is already pretty hot and only then do they ramp up the revs. And I didnt want to mess with bios cuz I might fuck up something permanently if not done properly. So most probably my next lap top is going to be something like Msi or in that range something that has manual overide for fans that I can control the speed since I’m wearing headphones when gaming so I dont rly mind some extra noise.
There are benefits to aplying liquid metal, you will never ever see your lap top throtle for sure and all other games and aplications will run coller and better thus better overall performance. But as I said before benefits are much greater with lap tops where you can control yourself the fan speed, it will run even cooler, 10-20 degress lower guaranteed
@@bogdagt Yeah but some others through forums said their improvements were 1-2c differences in temperature which doesnt justify all the trouble to change thermals imho, im glad to know thats not entirely true tho but surely my laptop didnt have 97 peaks when i bought it, thats for sure
@@rayku22 1-2 c diference? Well you'll have to be more specific, is it the gpu or cpu, liquid metal or just carbon based paste? It depends on what and where you apply. Gpu's for example run cool and most of the time you will not even see the diference or as you said 1-2 c. while cpu no matter what paste u use there will always be deference a few degrees depending on the model of lap top and its capabilities to cool itself down. I dunno where you get your info but in my research I've always found that nothing beats liquid metal but there are risks when dealing with it.
Asus G751JT still running strong after 4 years but has been getting warmer than before. This vid is gonna be a big help for my repaste project this upcoming weekend to get those thermals down.

(I had lost my recorded temperatures for the CPU under full load testing but I remember the difference being around 5C or 6C difference lower.) Idle Difference: -4C Full Load Difference: -5C GPU idle temperature was ~43C and full load would be at ~68C(no overclock). Then idle temperature was ~39C and full load at ~63C after the repaste(no overclock.). Idle difference: -4C Full Load Difference: -5C All in all, I brought down my CPU and GPU temperatures by roughly 4C-5C. Which I thought was pretty good. One thing I should mention is that getting rid of the thermal pads was a pain. They melted and made a mess. I didn't have any extra to use so I just used my thermal paste, which I'm assuming is working like normal. Took me roughly a couple of hours since I was being careful and handling other obligations.
@Habibi Haya Haya I'd definitely try to repaste to get those thermals down. That is way too high. That kind of heat will lower the lifespan of the laptop.

Actually something missing here !! The thermal grease / compound wasn't changed / renewed on the RAM & power chips. In most cases it leads to higher temps there - due to the old layer of grease most likely will not be the same ) after the heatsink removal. So its a must to renew all the thermal compound everywhere you see it. Make sure - the compound / grease you use on ram / power chips is thicker (meaning - another type and not the same as you use for CPU and GPU) if distance is >0.5-1mm ; if it's > 1.5mm use thermal pads only - due to such a thick layer of grease will not be efficent enough compared to thermal pads....

Hi what is that you’re removing at 17:54? and my asus is not turning on even though the light bulb is on when pressing the power button but no fans spinning no led backlight from the keyboard. I’ve tried many steps to get it work, I’m on the last solution to remove cmos battery and put it back after sometime, Do you think this will work? Unfortunately, in this case, without knowledge in soldering and repair, you will not be able to repair it yourself. Here you will need a multimeter and a soldering iron, as well as repair skill. I think it is better for you to give a laptop to repair service or buy a new motherboard.

Man, I was with you right up until you cleaned the cpu fan right over all the exposed circuitry. Why would you do that? That's just not smart. So in the future you want to clean the fans away from the computer circuitry. The idea is to protect the mobo and other delicate electronics from static electricity and dust. I also don't know why you repasted the cpu and gpu, and didn't do the chipset while you were there??? Everything else was pretty much okay except for those.
the dust really doesnt hurt a computer its moisture that does them in. The only dust to worry about is in greasy environments the cooling channels get clogged faster because of the nature of the airborne grease particles
You have repasted only the CPU/GPU paste, why ? Is there any real reason why you did not clean the other chips/memory chips that had a factory paste or you just couldn't be bothered or they use special paste for them? I have a G751JY = 980M Nvidia and I will be re-pasting it with Arctic MX-4 because my idle temps of CPU are about 52-55C and when doing 75%CPU/30%GPU they rise up to 83C which is high-ish
I have same problem here even after cleaning all chip, still thinking about appplying there thermopads or somethink like that on thoose side chipsets instead of thermal paste
@@LucasStanik Go ahead and do it. IT1s the only chance and repaste GPU and CPU only, if yoy have very thin thermal pads place it on the rest of the chips. Good luck and let us know.
@@SpierMarcio Yes, you can use it, go ahead. Basicaly it`s veryeasy to repaste and place thermal pads on chipset parts. What I recommend to you is to use 1mm, just to make sure there is no mini gap between radiator and chipsets. If you are going to use 2mm make sure you push enough pressure on it after you place thermal pads on all chip parts and repaste CPU/GPU cores. Good luck, btw I still have this one and laptop is very solid, strongly to recommend, but a bit heavy. Currently I give up this one to my sister and have Acer Predator Helios 300 with 144Hz display, no gsync, but 144Hz it`s like no gsync requied or needed, i don`t feel i need that nvidia "feature". Let us know about your results.

BE CAREFUL : before de-cliping the keyboard, there are 3 little screws under the CD reader. So I broke one of them trying to remove keyboard
i just broke the middle one to... battery explode in this laptop and i have to replace it :)
