    Thanks for posting and all who shared the information. Was able to shoot some lithium grease from a can into that washer area it seems to have fixed the problem. Really thought we had a bad bearing. Replaced the belt which was ready to fail - $40 ripoff for a tiny belt, ran it without the pump attached - no luck. Thought it might be the springs squeaking. Sounded like my boss in the background lol.

    • @Samlol23_drrich

      I thought it was the bearing as well. This was my first TH-cam “score”. Where someone with specific knowledge really helped a lot of people. When I recently did the seal that was leaking I put some more grease between those washers since I had the machine apart already. It’s been perfect since the day I made this video. Thanks for commenting.

      I have a commercial Speed Queen with a similar set-up. The belt clearly needed replaced so I did that (no other apparent issues other than belt). Now that helix is spinning and clunking (very fast) during the drain cycle. Problem might be due to putting too small of a belt on initially. I put the first one on and then quickly realized something was wrong when it started making noise. Then I put the correct size belt on, but the problem remains. Any ideas?

  • @gamblecreek5899
    @gamblecreek5899 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks your video and others helped; it's a long story so I'll try to make it brief. Our machine was making noise on the spin cycle and I thought it was the trans. but I could turn the belt, so I ended up removing the water pump and then it ran fine so I ordered a new pump and put some lubricant in the top of the old one (trying to catch up on the laundry) and reinstalled the pump and it ran fine; when the new pump arrived and my son looked in the washer he asked "why didn't you order a belt, because there was belt debris everywhere" I looked and apparently I had put the rear spring clip on the back of the pump in the wrong position so it rubbed the back of the belt... so now I've ordered the new belt, and then when I took the front hose loose from the old pump there was a WD-40 spray straw inside of it and it was kind of beat up so I suspect that was what was stuck in the pump making noise in the beginning!

    Thank you samlol12 and 7732528! The old work horse lives on!
    My Amana (6501) is slightly different, has a bell shaped pulley. First it was only making a loud pulsing whining sound on spin. I removed the motor and discovered the tensioner pully arm was crooked and rusty from age/wear. Belt (2-years old) was intact but torn in 4 places. I straightened, cleaned, and lubed the tensioner assembly, installed a new belt, cleaned the pulleys w/3000 grit, etc. Did a load and the noise was now on agitate only...sweet.
    Next, I used a wood coffee stirrer a little paint brush to apply grease in between the 2 washers under the brake rotor. The rotor looks like a clutch pressure plate, so I figured the washers act as a throw out bearing. Also brushed a little grease between the flat washer and the yellow plastic bushing on the transmission shaft/pulley.
    Did another load and the noise is gone...old faithful.

    Hi, my speed queen top loading machine has been making a sort of tweeting sound which seems to be coming from the transmission during agitation and is getting louder. The machine works perfectly fine, except for a few rattling here and there. It is a 2016 lwn model. What could be causing this sounds and how could same be fixed? Any suggestions or should I be worried?

      The original video I posted was of my machine making a noise similar to what you are describing. I too had no idea what the issue was. This video is a follow up to that first one, after a user told me what the problem was and how to fix it. I’m a dentist and not in the appliance repair business so unfortunately, unless your problem is the same as mine, (which is possible), I can’t help. I suggest that you check my pinned comment…..I believe I linked the original vid I made. Go back and watch that, and then read through the comments in that video for how to fix the issue. . If it’s the same noise as your machine, than watch this video, and grease the washers, as the user in the title had me do, because it worked. My machine has not made that sound since I made this video. Hope that helps and good luck.

    The piece shown at 32 seconds. Is that supposed to spin with the pulley that has the opposite shape that fits right into it or is it stationary? Because on mine it stays still but causes the pulley to jump up and down on every turn

      Where were you three years ago!!
      My original post asked for help with a grinding noise that I tried to capture in a video. Machine had been working fine but for a year made a grinding noise during agitation. A bunch of well intending people commented with suggestions I knew were wrong. Few weeks later out of the blue, I get a post from someone (like you) Who clearly knew the machine. Told me exactly what it was and how to fix it and even what size wrench to use Is. The second I put that wrench that he suggested onto the pulley and it fit, I knew the guy was the real deal.
      Thanks for the comment. Machine has worked flawlessly since that day

    • @MOAB-UT
      @MOAB-UT 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Samlol23_drrich Thanks for your reply. Having hard water helps in that regard for sure. Also having 2+ inch drain pipes.
      Unfortunately, we have not received the machine yet- they missed their delivery on Friday despite me taking the day off. They apparently did not realize it was out of stock "at their warehouse." Rookie move.
      At least it gave me more time to prepare. I already installed a heavy duty steel 2.5" graded drain pan to go under the machine. I also made a catchment system under the area of the drain hose. If I get bubbles, they will go into a pan, the into a second catchment (like a gutter), then from there, directly into the bottom large pan which has a drain.
      I also bought a water sensor that shuts off power to the machine if it senses water and additional water alarms in critical areas including the pipes, pan and overflow area. I know it sounds like overkill but we had a small leaky pipe a few years ago and it cost us $12k. It leaked downstairs to our neighbors condo. It was a nightmare that took many months to repair and a lot of aggravation. I would like to get the system that closes the water valve in case of a leak or hose break but I haven't (yet.) I have one on the furnace which works well. The valve is soldiered to the pipe so it required a plumber.
      BTW, beautiful dog- I love Whippets. You should read The Forever Dog- Dr. Karen Becker. I make our mini poodle a homemade diet that he loves- simple to make and 1,000x's healthier. She has free recipes on the forever dog website. Two dogs she references lived to be around 30- Bluey and Maggie the Kelpie. They both ate raw and ran on a farm daily.
