Here are some tips -when the lizard grabs you, sometimes they will accidentally drop you or when they fight other lizards they will drop you, and you can escape, just spam jump then run like hell -you can pick up the red grass plant thing, it attracts the bats -holding the pickup button will make the slugcat( thats its name) swallow the pebble ( it wont swallow the spear) you're holding, holding the pickup button again will make him/her spit it out -those blue ball things hanging in the cieling is edible green lizard is normal purple lizard can climb poles blue lizards can climb everything and grab you with its tongue white lizard can turn invisible and grab you with its super long tongue sometime theres these giant bird things but thats in the next area

I can understand why this never got more episodes. It takes a significant amount of time investment to get the hang of, plus it's incredibly difficult to beat without a guide. However considering all the updates the game had, not to mention the release of the Downpour DLC, it would be very cool to see it revisited. Not that I expect that to happen at this point, but if it ever does I'll be pleasantly surprised.
i think his biggest issue is that he keeps pressing up when he tries to pounce which cancels it lol also smt taht throws people off a lot at first is that you don’t actually hold down to crouch it’s a toggled state so people will accidentally toggle crouch
yeah, itd be fun to see mark and co in jolly co op with somone that knows the game well to guide them but not reveal too much, at the same time teachin things like pouncing rolls etc, alas i doubt our dreams will come true

I JUST DISCOVERED! Those green and red lizards arent necessarily a game over! If they happen to let you go, such as while fighting or trying to get into a hole, You can still run away! you dont HAVE to restart! The only time when you are really gone is when they go into hiding to avoid the rain. thats when you cant recover from it. guys help him see this! You can possibly even have the Lizards take you to new places this way!

I think I escaped once by chucking a rock after game over somehow. And I got saved by a vulture who decided the pink one carrying me was a nice snack (got dropped when the lizard tried to bite the vulture).
well it depends, lizards have a death prucent when biting you so look at the eyes of the slugcat when that happans,of they areclosed then the slugcat is alive,of they are XX then that means that the slugcat is dead

Rain World is comprised of mostly exploration and backtracking, trial and error. Lots of footage would have to be edited out in a Rain World playthrough, and a TH-camr as big and busy as Mark probably doesn't have time for how expansive Rain World is if he's filming other game play-throughs simultaneously. That's still just my take, anyways.

If you want a good atmospheric games in both graphics and musics you can try Ori and the Blind Forest. it's a masterpiece. it's not post apocalyptic though, more like corrup nature (then you cleanse it thorough the story but the graphics are absolutely AMAZING)
This game is awesome and has so much detail! Has anyone else noticed the shadows in the background of the small furball when Mark was in open areas? Also: Mark, don't forget that you need at least 4 bats to hibernate, so you NEED to eat, to be able to hibernate and possibly to even enter a safe space when the rain comes, so don't forget that!!

In all honesty....I first played this game like 2 years ago, shortly after this video originally came out actually Only managed to get in like 2ish hours and just gave up in Shoreline... I came back to it a few weeks ago....and finished it today...i cried a little bit after a 70 hour playthrough

Markiplier at this point has become a meme to the rain world community because of this video being labeled part one but all jokes aside, you should really keep playing this game, I have over 450 hours on this game and it’s just because it never gets old, this game is truly stunning a marvel to ai and game development, there are so many amazing parts of this game that are simply covered up by the sheer difficulty of this game. On one hand, I'm kind of glad you left this series for so long, because I got to experience the game myself without it being spoiled, but now that I'm done it's become one of my favourite games of all time. I hope you continue your play-through. :D The game can be crushingly difficult, and at the beginning it can feel insurmountable, but if you push through it'll start making sense pretty quickly. Here's some tips if you revisit it! This is just the basics to get you through the first areas, the rest you can figure out or look at a guide for if you need to :D If there's a shelter pipe, you _can_ enter it. There are no tricks. For leaping, I thought it was really weird and inconsistent, but it's not - if you hold the jump button while crouched, till the slugcat arches their back, then release to leap, not wait for a while while crouched it works the same each time. The games tutorials are kinda bad, but I think it's on purpose to keep the world mysterious. When you double tap pick up, you swap hands, the item in your left hand you'll throw first, always. There's a ton of advanced movement tech (sliding, backflipping, leaping out of a slide to cover long distances quickly, rolling, which happens when you hold down while landing by the way, that's why you slipped off edges a lot, which you can do out of a backflip and then backflip out of, stuff like that, none of which the game teaches you) which, when you get the hang of it makes the game way easier and way more fun, but you'll need that at the very least. Backflipping and rolling around is my favourite, because anything to do with sliding is pretty difficult on controller.
“There are no tricks with shelter tunnels” see I played the game for a while and thought so too until I found a spider in the damn shelter which killed me. This game is brutal, but I still play it.
I will not be liking your comment because it's at 69 likes and I would ruin something great, but I wanted to say that even though he won't be playing rain world no more (sad face), that you went out of your way to make an incredibly helpful advice list and that I appreciate your effort. :D
The fact that Mark hasn't come back to this game after 7 years, several updates, and a DLC is a crime. I have 200 hours in this game, and I heartily recommend it. The singleplayer campaigns (all 7 of them, not counting Monk) are both difficult and rewarding, and have some of the most cool ambient storytelling in gaming. The music, art direction, sound design, and even the incredibly deep movement system all make this game a joy to explore and master. Even after beating every campaign and challenge mode, it's an incredibly fun game to play with friends, since the games inherent chaos and difficulty results in the most hilarious and ridiculous situations. The Steam Workshop provides an even deeper trove of joy, from mods designed to enhance the base game (such as SBCameraScroll, the only mod I can't live without), to Slugcat cosmetics, to adding entirely new areas and campaigns, to mods designed to enhance the already wild multiplayer experience (Revifify and Stick Together are essential), to my personal favorites, the meme/joke mods. Basically, I'm begging you to give this game another shot, because it truly deserves it.

Kelly Wright It rains randomly like SUUUUUUUPER hard with like thunder and lightning and stuff but stops after two minutes. it can happen like 10+ times in a day too.
Don't forget Indiana. One of the only things it's known for is having all four seasons in the span of 1 week (it's happened before with me there) and that it has a lot of corn... and more corn.... and a soybean field every once in awhile... and some more goddamn corn... But yea! Bipolarness!!!
Considering the lengthy nature of rain world, I can see why mark doesn’t want to make a video for it. It’s best played yourself, too. The game requires you to understand the Slugcat’s physics, and how other enemies can be exploited. A tip for those who reach coastline: if the squids are annoying you, grab them. They’ll give you a free ride. Just, make sure to ditch and not get carried away.
Heads up: in another video, Mark gave a reason for not playing more of this. That reason being because of just how absolutely massive this game is, it's extremely long for most new players and is very difficult

In all honesty....I first played this game like 2 years ago, shortly after this video originally came out actually
Only managed to get in like 2ish hours and just gave up in Shoreline...
I came back to it a few weeks ago....and finished it today...i cried a little bit after a 70 hour playthrough

Markiplier at this point has become a meme to the rain world community because of this video being labeled part one but all jokes aside, you should really keep playing this game, I have over 450 hours on this game and it’s just because it never gets old, this game is truly stunning a marvel to ai and game development, there are so many amazing parts of this game that are simply covered up by the sheer difficulty of this game. On one hand, I'm kind of glad you left this series for so long, because I got to experience the game myself without it being spoiled, but now that I'm done it's become one of my favourite games of all time. I hope you continue your play-through. :D
The game can be crushingly difficult, and at the beginning it can feel insurmountable, but if you push through it'll start making sense pretty quickly.
Here's some tips if you revisit it! This is just the basics to get you through the first areas, the rest you can figure out or look at a guide for if you need to :D
If there's a shelter pipe, you _can_ enter it. There are no tricks.
For leaping, I thought it was really weird and inconsistent, but it's not - if you hold the jump button while crouched, till the slugcat arches their back, then release to leap, not wait for a while while crouched it works the same each time. The games tutorials are kinda bad, but I think it's on purpose to keep the world mysterious.
When you double tap pick up, you swap hands, the item in your left hand you'll throw first, always.
There's a ton of advanced movement tech (sliding, backflipping, leaping out of a slide to cover long distances quickly, rolling, which happens when you hold down while landing by the way, that's why you slipped off edges a lot, which you can do out of a backflip and then backflip out of, stuff like that, none of which the game teaches you) which, when you get the hang of it makes the game way easier and way more fun, but you'll need that at the very least. Backflipping and rolling around is my favourite, because anything to do with sliding is pretty difficult on controller.

“There are no tricks with shelter tunnels” see I played the game for a while and thought so too until I found a spider in the damn shelter which killed me. This game is brutal, but I still play it.

The fact that Mark hasn't come back to this game after 7 years, several updates, and a DLC is a crime. I have 200 hours in this game, and I heartily recommend it. The singleplayer campaigns (all 7 of them, not counting Monk) are both difficult and rewarding, and have some of the most cool ambient storytelling in gaming. The music, art direction, sound design, and even the incredibly deep movement system all make this game a joy to explore and master. Even after beating every campaign and challenge mode, it's an incredibly fun game to play with friends, since the games inherent chaos and difficulty results in the most hilarious and ridiculous situations. The Steam Workshop provides an even deeper trove of joy, from mods designed to enhance the base game (such as SBCameraScroll, the only mod I can't live without), to Slugcat cosmetics, to adding entirely new areas and campaigns, to mods designed to enhance the already wild multiplayer experience (Revifify and Stick Together are essential), to my personal favorites, the meme/joke mods.
Basically, I'm begging you to give this game another shot, because it truly deserves it.

Considering the lengthy nature of rain world, I can see why mark doesn’t want to make a video for it. It’s best played yourself, too. The game requires you to understand the Slugcat’s physics, and how other enemies can be exploited. A tip for those who reach coastline: if the squids are annoying you, grab them. They’ll give you a free ride. Just, make sure to ditch and not get carried away.
