Go to Munich for Weisswurst. Get it at the Viktualienmarkt. Munich is easy to get around with good transport from the airport. You could do it easily in a day. It's also a beautiful city with lots to see. I'm really enjoying this series. Keep them coming.
Munich for the Oktoberfest, in September of course. Ireland again for a spice bag. And you could always really try and branch out and have French snails, frog's legs and horse, if you can find the right venues.
Hello my friend it's so lovely to see you, have missed you! I love chicken but I've never had piri piri chicken but this looked amazing & guess it tasted the same too & authentic having this in place of origin. I'm pleased you got the opportunity to sample the lovely confectionery too! Portugal looks a beautiful place, loved the marina area & what glorious weather. All in all 1st class with content & excellent filming, thank you for sharing take care 💜 XX
Now that’s a superb day trip! Never been to Faro but I’ll definitely be putting it on my list. Really enjoyable video, thank you for taking us along with you!
That Pasteis de nata looked awesome. I always appreciate you documenting the process of getting from the airport to the local city. Transfers are always so stressful, so knowing what bus to take is invaluable info. Thanks
Another awesome trip adventure! Love the sights you shared and great food with the airport traversing shots. Yeah, after how a bit on the pricey side those flights were; it's good to take a break and cover some local economical grub and try to do some in-car reviews! Great video.
So pleased that you finally got to Portugal to try the Piri Piri chicken and a pastel de nata. They both looked delicious! Food in Portugal is usually very reasonably priced, and it’s actually quite hard to find a badly cooked meal, because they wouldn’t stay in business five minutes. The Portuguese love their food! Great too that you got some beautiful sunshine. Hope you get to return to Portugal one day.
What fun! Love your sense of adventure. I always liked going to a place just walking up the street and checking into a restaurant. I had the best time in Bermuda doing that.
I’m always amazed you don’t do some basic research on Google before you arrive in these places (e.g. buses from airport to city), especially given how short the time you have there!
That's part of his challenge, to find his way when he arrives. I suspect he does do some research prior to leaving. Knowing which cities have airports close to the centre of town or good public transport. I know i do when I go abroad.
My Korean wife says if you eat the chicken neck, it makes you sing well....Chicken neck is quite normal here but there isn't much meat on it. Nice video again!
Glad to see 👀 you're back exploring food abroad again. Portugal is a fantastic country. I'm planning on going Faro soon, so I might try that chicken 🐔 place you went too. Shame you didn't try francesinha while you was in Portugal. Regarding the food the orange stuff in the rice would of been saffron, which also turns rice yellow. That dish needed some sauce in my opinion, but I'm sure the chicken was juicy. I had a similar dish in Lisbon and the chicken was so tasty. Let's see 👀 where you go next? 🛫🛬😋
Interesting to see the soft drink served in glass bottles, not something you see in NZ. We moved away from glass in the 1970's among much controversy and a major advertising campaign based on safety. In realty it was all about cost.
A very successful trip to Faro!.I spent a week around Lisbon last year but did not eat any chicken.Seems just the flights cost was the expensive part, everything else was great value
But you got to feel the sun, and see the sea, and eat super food at a great price! I guess the flights were expensive as Faro is not a hot spot? But still worth it in my eyes. Anyway a great Bank Holiday weekend destination for the future. Usually people buy a plateful of Natas tarts, but I know you were full. 😅
Factoring in theflight costs that is an expensive plate of Peri Peri Chicken. Saying that it did look good. I would have ordered a side salad as well. All in all a good day out. Had you thougth about sbsiding your trip by having a side hustle of biying and selling on stuff from local stores.
Great trip and great food, the chicken looked delicious and was of amazing value. I'm not a fan of Nando's, I went once and thought the portions were small and the prices high. But what you had looked so so much better. Did you really order only one custard tart? C'mon, I bet you took another for the journey?
Looked like a great destination. The food looked delicious (and cheap). Do you ever feel lonely on your trips, being in such a nice place on your own? You always look as if you're having a good time anyway 😊😊
Another entertaining video, thank you. One suggestion for when your finances recover. What about visiting Cornwall for a genuine Cornish pasty. I confess that this is pure self interest as we will be visiting there from Australia later in the year. Thanks again for taking the time to do these. Mark
@@isobelmatheson8036interesting. Portugal no problem but Cornwall is a big no. I will have a better appreciation of the transport limitations after I visit.
It may have been one of your most expensive trips but it was certainly one of the best videos of your day trips abroad. The restaurant food looked so authentic. No frozen ingredients there, I bet. It looked so tasty. And then the traditional bakery and that cake! Thank you for your efforts and the snapshot reviews of all these places.
Hi,thank you for the video.I always enjoy your videos.I have been ti Lisbon and Porto would you recommend Faro or were you not there long enough to say. Thanks Alan.
maybe after these trips you should go to the uk place and buy the same item if possible. and compare the price, portion size and taste of the UK version vs the place abroad if at bus stop i would have found out return bus times and got bus number etc before leaving bus station the bus man never said yes airport may be you should have asked the people there still would be nice to have in pounds
Don’t forget both Mozambique & Angola were Portuguese colonies and that one of the inspirations behind Nando’s in South Africa was an immigrant from Mozambique to South Africa who carried the idea of Piri Piri there. Incidentally I first came across Piri Piri Chicken in Macau , then a Portuguese colony, carried there by Portuguese from Mozambique too, I lived in Hong Kong then and it was common then to spend weekends in Macau and sample Chinese cuisine with a Portuguese and Mozambique flavour 😋👍.
@BillCameronWC yes, South Africa also has a massive Portuguese population, hence the link to Portugal, and as you say, other Portuguese colonies. Such a world of culinary inspiration!
Yes the birth place of Nandos and it is still here! We also love Nandos but have many Portuguese restaurants here and we have many Portuguese bakeries too. My favourite is also Pastries de Nata😊
Glad you enjoyed but isn't it a of a downer when the weather is so nice and the food is good, then you get off the plane and its dull and miserable, I suppose you could say the food made up for that
You are an amazing Cuckoo. I would rather fly all the way to some Atlantic Island like the AZORES or nearer to UK, the SILLY Islands ok Scilly Isles. Millionaires live there.
Hi from Palm Springs California 🙋♀️ Oh dear! You'd never survive here! I'm on a weekend getaway and I'm melting. It's currently 40c/105f here. We should top out at 46/115f later this afternoon. I burst out laughing when you called 26c "boiling". That's a typical late Spring day temperature for us, in Los Angeles. Your meal looked well prepared and tasty! As for chips on the next vid: Yes, please! But why not make it a hunt for "proper" chips instead! Seems too many places in the UK are serving French fries and calling them chips. Fries are tasty, but they really don't taste the same and the texture is different too.
Where should I go next?

A Paella in Spain? 🤔🍛
Valencia for Paella
Or Iceland (no not the supermarket) for fermented shark or maybe a lovely plate of sheeps head.

Thanks!
Those pastries are sensational especially with coffee.
They were so good!
I'm pretty sure that although Nando's in the a Portuguese style, the chain is from South Africa.
Love the hand gestures!

I find Nando's is very tasty and consistent food quality, but a tad over priced.
It is a bit expensive I agree, but the price in Faro was fantastic!
I wish I could try it. There’s none in California. 😔

Good thing about Portugal is that the time is same as UK.
That looked like the tartiest tart I've ever seen that didn't involve some kind of supposedly illegal activity.
It was one of the best I've had!
Hi,thank you for the video.I always enjoy your videos.I have been ti Lisbon and Porto would you recommend Faro or were you not there long enough to say. Thanks Alan.
From the little I saw, yes. seems like a nice place
A good day out
you should order some Kethop or soy sause you will enjoy more but stil what a lunch you got there in portugal ....😉😊
That restaurant looks like your average subsidised work/school canteen. Not overly impressed.
26°c is boiling hot? HAHAHAHA I laugh in Australian midwinter at 25°c and im wearing a jumper and considering putting the fireplace on shortly.
It was too hot lol
Looks amazing but the only thing wrong is it wasn't me eating it 😊😊😊😊

Nandos are a South African company. But they do Portuguese style food. I dont think they have any outlets in Portugal.
going to the Algarve in 2 weeks, may have to pop to faro for some cheap chicken and chips XD
Its worth it for sure!
For Portugal you should’ve had sardines imo….
Great video. We're the olives etc included?
They were!
Yes, that was the chicken neck. 😉
I love a cheeky Nando’s ,think your brave going to a strange country on your own. The food looked so tasty. Faro looks so nice.🥰
Strange country? 🤣
After going all that way, you could have brought some pastries back with you for the trip home at least.
I should have!

Gotta be honest I think Nando's do it better, the ones in Tesco are pretty good too.

It was some sort of military plane

At least no white lines in the sky, not like the UK.
