      Those wires you really don’t need it’s called a tors it cuts the spark if it was to be stuck wide open and the throttle was not opened if it goes bad then you’ll have no spark at all people just delete them to save the problem of no spark

    The reason the gas is probably mixed so rich like that is when a two-stroke sits the gas evaporates but the oil doesn't so if it sits for any amount of time you end up with a mixture that's so rich that it's more oil than gas

  • @buckshotautos8690
    @buckshotautos8690 2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

    Those wires are just the tors system that carb has been deleted and a choke has been drilled and put on. The tors system is notorious for making blasters idol and run bad. Hope it helps!

    • @quickturn66
      @quickturn66 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What the heck does a throttle over ride do?

    • @buckshotautos8690
      @buckshotautos8690 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@quickturn66 A TORS unit uses a throttle position sensor to check the position of the throttle on your handlebars; if the TORS unit detects a difference between the hand-throttle and the throttle cable position, it assumes that the cable's snapped. If this happens, the TORS unit cuts power to the ignition and kills the engine.

    I own 7 of these. No purple frames out of factory. The plug under hood was unplugged because someone "half" deleted or tried to delete the tors system on top of the carburetor. Your hood is 100% aftermarket maier. And I'm thinking your exhaust is dg. Header doesn't appear stock with heatshield. Cannot wait to see what you do to this thing !

I love blasters and never should of sold my 89, it was great. I was lucky to find this 2001 in great condition but needed some work. Hard to find blasters, gone same day they go up for sale.

    Woah woah woah... did you say "The brakes work?!" I hear many people have issues with the TOR system and most just "delete" it, but I have never had an issue with mine. The major issue I have with my Blaster over the decades is brakes that actually work. I have changed and replaced them, and had different shops do the same but they were always terrible. Technically they "work" but barely - I don't consider mine reliable. I count myself lucky that I have not had my life depend on them. Lol
    Great find BTW. Classic machine. Good luck with it bro!

    I've owned a few and some things to note.
    Leak test as part of normal maintenance. Trans oil was low, crank seal(s) may be leaking.
    32:1 ratio minimum. Trail riding and occasional WOT. Use 2 stroke oil for air cooled motorcycle. (Maxima super M good choice).
    Set float height to spec.
    Set idle to spec. Tors unit on top of carb under seat is how you set idle..
    Confirm jetting for mods. Open air box (no lid). Pipe.
    Replace that air filter with a UNI or equal foam filter.

    Blasters tend to have problems with the TORS system. Usually once that happens it won’t allow it to rev or run properly. A common fix it to bypass it and just replace the carburetor with one that doesn’t have the sensor. Which looks to be what was done in this case!
