Hey Ken ;) 1:55 / 3:35 Couldn't agree more Baritones/Basses never get enough love. I am a T1 tho ;) 5:27 - Swaying is due to just feeling the music during a full day long shoot. 6:57 - Pop Filter (always use a pop filter when I sing) this is just the video representation of the weeks it takes to record all those 100+ tracks ;). Thanks for checking out my work Ken!
Hey Peter! I stand corrected, your low notes sound amazing and rich though so I don’t feel too ashamed for casting you as a Baritone. Tenors Rule!!! Pop filters work that’s why we use them. I have to say that I am humbled by the effort, time, energy and talent you put into your videos and recordings. It inspires me and many other singers to get off our butts and work harder to reach our potential! Go forward and conquer the world my friend we are behind you!
Peter Hollens also did this together with Tim Foust, you had better reacted to THAT ONE! They further did "Greensleeves", "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and "Sound Of Silence", I hope that that irks you to listen to these.
Peter is actually a tenor. I remember watching him discuss how he did it by recording the low notes first thing in the morning. He wouldn't even talk or anything so his voice wouldn't have a chance to wake up too much before recording. And if you think Peter is hitting low notes, wait until you see the version of this he did with Tim Faust of Home Free. I'd also like to recommend his cover of "Black Is the Color (of My True Love's Hair)" with Avi Kapplan, formerly the bass of Pentatonix. You want to talk about a rich bass tone, Avi's got that in spades. Peter actually has an entire album of songs from Middle Earth. I actually prefer his version of "I See Fire" over Ed Sheeran's. (Crazy, I know.) And his Hobbit Drinking Medley is great. I'm always happy to find more reactions to Peter. There's never enough of them.
Home Free! TIM FOUST! The collaborate Peter has done with Tim, Green Sleeves, Misty Mountains, and Avi, Black is the color of my true love hair. Awesome. Home Free has some amazing videos and their harmonies are super tight. They are known as a country a Capella group but do much more.
You should check out his collabs with avi, tim or jonathan, they're epic! He did a cover of this song with tim foust and it is truely amazing to listen to!
I would suggest reacting to Home Free, they're an acapella group with amazing harmonies. Their bass singer Tim Foust has a very broad range, from very deep to fairly high, their beatboxer Adam Rupp is very impressive (if you google his name you'll see him doing drum solos etc). How Great Thou Art, Man Of Constant Sorrow, In the Blood (John Mayer), End Of The Road (Boyz 2 Men), and Auld Lang Syne are good choices. They have a live version of How Great Thou Art that is particularly impressive seeing as they (Adam I assume) somehow manages to achieve a choir sound effect.
Thanks for this one...I didn't realize Peter had this out with just him singing..he did an amazing job! If you like the bass on this one...you need to watch Peter Hollens Misty Mountains feat. Tim Foust (the bass from Home Free)! You will love it!
So great to listen to someone that actually knows what they are talking about ! THX My favorite Peter Hollens performance video ..besides 'Carry On Wayward Son" is "I SEE FIRE" ...he recorded 98 tracks...8-14 voices.. Each video takes 85-200 hrs hr from beginning to completion!! PLEASE be impressed...LOL & even if u don't react on Utube ..listen in your spare time!!! Thx again for listening!!
I love Peter Hollens... and if you like people singing harmonies with themselfes, you could react to Jacob Collier: "Flintstones" I'm still in awe after listening to Jacob for the first time years ago...
YES!! Peter is the man! (And one of our local family heroes.) While it's difficult to choose just one favorite to recommend to anyone, I highly enjoy The Parting Glass. Chill factor alone is worth the listen!
Peter is not naturally a baritone and that is the funny thing. He is a classically trained opera singer! His reg register is higher than this. He puts TONS of work into these vids, hundreds of layers!!
YES! I agree with some of the others...you should listen to the version where Tom Foust joins Peter Hollens. His low notes really fill out the arrangement.
Now I want a reaction to Clamavi de Profundi, with their complete version of "over the misty mountains". They did the full text tolkien wrote, its a family so you might get the same overtone shenanigans happening. Glorious song, but its also quite long :D Truly an epic in every sense of the word.
today I learned most of the current versions of this song are ENTIRELY different from the original poem. I usually listen to the Clamavi De Profundis version, which is pretty true to the original text and there were parts here that I just could not recognize. The part that fully clued me in (other than the fact that most of the new versions skip the first stanza) was the East/Released rhyme. There is no such rhyme scheme in the poem. There are -old, -ell, -un/ung, -elv, -ight, -ale, -oom, and -im. And I'm fully aware this is like the height of pendantry and that it doesn't matter. It just caught me off guard 'cause I hadn't realized it before. When the movie came out I hadn't heard the other versions of it yet, and I don't recall it from the times i've picked up the hobbit (to be fair, I never managed to finish it. I'm working on it)
Check out the collaboration he did with Jonathan Young on the rains of castemir. The one on Jonathan Young’s channel. Peter takes the higher harmonies in it and shows a different strength to his voice.
You should react to Dermot Kennedy , he has an amazing voice. Beautiful lyrics. His Colours session of Moments Passed or his npr tiny desk concert are amazing.
Speaking of a capella - you absolutely need to hear Jacob Collier's rendition of Moon River. The range is impressive to say the least, but those harmonies, man... Seriously - do yourself a favour!
His low range is very impressive indeed, though I do think he lags sufficient control. I suppose most won't notice, but I do. I also think I hear a hint of auto tune, but I've heard that before where I was clearly wrong, not least a first time watching a rather popular TV performance involving Henk Poort. Regardless, this was an interesting performance.
Please do this again with the version by Peter Hollins featuring Tim Foust (the bass from Home Free). I think it is superior, and the last note from Tim will blow you away.
This will probably get lost in the comments, but pls react to the songs "Die Festung" and "Erlkönig" from "Maybebop", even if you don't understand the words (it's in German) - it's sooo worth it!
For a beautiful smorgasbord of the whole range of male voices from tenor to octavist, set in the Tolkien universe, try reacting to Song of Durin by Clamavi de Profundis. It's a massive TH-cam hit, although it doesn't feature any live performance.
Hi, I really enjoy your reaction videos. Since you liked the 'choir' effect here, check out this one, also by Peter Hollens and Lindsey Sterling: th-cam.com/video/BSLPH9d-jsI/w-d-xo.html - Skyrim. I like it, a lot.
I mean its written from a choir of dwarves, so harmonies should be expected. Though I agree, the piece from 5:00 onward was a bit overdone for what I feel should be simple and solemn.
Best Bass: Peter Steele from Type O Negative, a good song would be Christian Woman, the album cut, not the video edit. He's no dwarf though. Dude was like 6'7".
Peter hollens is not a bass. Not even a baritone lol I think tim foust did a simple bass line in this before he actually did a feature with peter doing this same song.
You should react to the Misty Mountains featuring Tim Foust. Amazing. I always enjoy Peter Hollens
Yes, the collaboration with Tim is even better!
There is a podcast called "Unraveling Ravel" When you listen think about what Tool did with Lateralus.
Yessss
I agree
Yes must listen to the same song just with tim foust in it
Hey Ken ;) 1:55 / 3:35 Couldn't agree more Baritones/Basses never get enough love. @@KenLavigne thank you kind sir!!!!!!!
Waiting to Ken find out about Tim Foust.

I’m so happy that you covered this song...so happy!
peter hollens is amazing. I love what he does.
If you want deep bass react to "Man of Constant Sorrow" by Home Free.
As for recommendations of other base vocalists.....Avi Kaplans "change on the rise"
Aberdeen as well.
I would suggest reacting to Home Free, they're an acapella group with amazing harmonies. I am a huge fan of Peter Hollens. Thanks for reacting to such a great singer, and most importantly, a great human.
Beautiful

I swear y'all, this vocal coach looks so charming he could pass as a Disney Prince.
What an epic listen... thanks for sharing!!! Also, "Bite you in the flapjack" ... totally worth the watch 🤭
This guy's range 😍
So great to listen to someone that actually knows what they are talking about ! THX

Thx again for listening!!
You should react to the danish symphony version of the misty mountains. The singer is amazing 🤩
"this is like chocolate" lol. It certainly is. Though his range is just stunning. I love his Hands of Gold cover
I love Peter Hollens... and if you like people singing harmonies with themselfes, you could react to Jacob Collier: "Flintstones" I'm still in awe after listening to Jacob for the first time years ago...

Holy cow this was so good
Duet Petter Hollens/Tim Foust-Home Free Bass/ Misty Mountains.
Holy stink! This is beautiful!
Peter is not naturally a baritone and that is the funny thing. He is a classically trained opera singer! His reg register is higher than this. He puts TONS of work into these vids, hundreds of layers!!
Check out the version with Tim foust
Hey brother, you really need to watch his misty mountains cover featuring Tim Foust. Incredible

Home free ft Avi Kaplan "Ring of fire"
"Great horns of Rohan" I was hoping for a "Holy horns of Helm Hammerhand"
today I learned most of the current versions of this song are ENTIRELY different from the original poem. The Oogie Boogie Song by Voice play has a few bass moments in it.
If you like bass, you should check out Home Free - Man of Constant Sorrow or any of Home Free songs!
If you haven't yet you should check out his "toss a coin to your witcher" cover. He is quite good.
Misty Mountain from the Danish Orchestra and sung by Johan Karlström - here on TH-cam
You should check out bare necessities by Geoff Castellucci
Please, can someone give me the link of the original video? I can find on TH-cam only video of Peter Hollens ft. Tim Foust.
His low range is very impressive indeed, though I do think he lags sufficient control. I suppose most won't notice, but I do.

Howard from Big Bang Theory looks good with a beard. Decent singer too.
You should have done the one with tim foust from home free it blo2s this one away
Please check out Sam Robson too! He does similar videos and it is spectacular (maybe do one from The Prince of Egypt)
This! Sam is probably my favorite youtube singer.
Nice.. watch him sing Amazing Grace with Home Free...
Need more barbershop! The Ringmasters are just one of the many great quartets
You should react to his Disney Villain Medley!!
This will probably get lost in the comments, but pls react to the songs "Die Festung" and "Erlkönig" from "Maybebop", even if you don't understand the words (it's in German) - it's sooo worth it!
Clamavi de Profundis, great voice ensemble. Listen to The Song of Durin, please.
Can you react to Roosevelt Andre Credit? Hes an amazing base and one of the most energetic amazing people I have ever met
For a beautiful smorgasbord of the whole range of male voices from tenor to octavist, set in the Tolkien universe, try reacting to Song of Durin by Clamavi de Profundis. It's a massive TH-cam hit, although it doesn't feature any live performance.
The live version of micro cuts by Muse!
I love his version of House of the Rising Sun
Peter Hollens is actually a tenor. He clearly has a good lower register though.
Peter Hollens Skyrim, GO!
KEN you sound a lot like Paul Rudd!!!!!!!!!
Geophry Castellucci of Voiceplay has a sic vocal rang high to subharmonic. check him out😊❤️
I love his voice but idk about the arrangement. The harmonies feel really displaced with the spirit of the song.
I mean its written from a choir of dwarves, so harmonies should be expected. Though I agree, the piece from 5:00 onward was a bit overdone for what I feel should be simple and solemn.
@@aenorist2431 still. But yeah, the actors actually had to try really hard to sing roughly. I mean, Armitage is actually a trained musical singer🤷
If you are looking for good bass singers check out "The Oogie Boogie Song" by Voice Play. Also a good pick with Halloween coming up!
Best Bass: Peter Steele from Type O Negative, a good song would be Christian Woman, the album cut, not the video edit. He's no dwarf though. Dude was like 6'7".
For deep voices, check Colter Wall ;)
Has he reacted to Mike Patton yet?!!!???

The one featuring Tim Foust was a bit better . . .
(edits 🤣😂)
Peter hollens is not a bass. Not even a baritone lol I think tim foust did a simple bass line in this before he actually did a feature with peter doing this same song.
Beautiful
