If you want more Peter Hollens collabs and songs the Greensleeves with Tim Foust and The Parting Glass are an absolute must watch.

Yes, Hank Green sings. He has even gone on tour. Like his brother John, he is now also a published novelist. Here's a playlist: th-cam.com/play/PL30E188D6D5930BF4.html

I think that last song was cut from the movie (and it definitely should have been in the movie!). I love this--it is just so much fun and it is soooo good! I don't think Peter Hollens doesn't get enough credit. Every one raves about Home Free, Pentatonix, and Voice Play. Now don't get me wrong, Home Free, Pentatonix, and Voice Play are all incredibly talented and wonderful and I love all three of these groups. But I think Peter is equally talented and he doesn't get as much credit (same with Voctave). I would love to see you react to Peter singing "Shenandoah" and his medley from "Les Mis" (with his wife).

This was fun. The song AND your reaction.
So, you didn't know Hank could sign, huh?
Well, I have got another one for you. Bet you didn't know Kiefer Sutherland can sing either? Yes, Mr. "24" Jack Bauer himself.
The official video to either "Not Enough Whiskey" or "Something You Love"
Whether you react to him or not, just watch on your own. He's that good. I promise...

Fun song! I agree, The Hobbit movies were not as good, in fact we couldn't even finish the first one. Hubby and I really disliked all the CGI in the movie, but the book is AWESOME!

I didn't know til I reacted to it either, lol. I think there's probably plenty of us who haven't explored the amazingness of his singing voice yet. But trust Peter Hollens to collab with every talented person in existence, and pull the rest of us along with him!

Hank Green is the science guy, a musician/composer, an author, runs several charitable companies and is one half of the vlogbrothers (with his brother John Green who is an author who has had some of his books made into films). I may have missed a few things he does! He is currently undergoing treatment for cancer but is still making videos which he seems to be using to explain the science behind his treatment!

If you can get your hands on one of the full LOTR books with the appendices Tolken put all his songs in there and they are amazing. Most of them are not in the movies. As good as the movies are they just touch the surface of what Tolkien put into the books.

The last song in the medley is from the extended edition of The Hobbit film. It’s sung by Bofur in Rivendell. I don’t think it’s anywhere in the books, but I’m not sure.
You want to see a couple vids that will astound you? The Disney sidekicks medley and the dreamworks medley. Both by Peter Hollens and Brian Hull and they are AWESOME!!!

Hank has been a singer forever. I saw him on tour back in 2014. A few songs that I would recommend reacting to if you want are "I Effing Love Science" (or the clean version "I Love Science"), "T-Shirt and Jeans", "Accio Deathly Hallows" (which he wrote during the long wait for the last Harry Potter book) or "The Universe is Weird".

Oh, please do react to some of Hank’s music!!! He’s got at least two or three albums and solos.
Depending on how nerdy you want to get, he’s got one called “The Universe is Weird” and “I Effing Love Science”, or a bit more common place “Tshirt and Jeans”.

Leave it to Peter to see that talent gets a spotlight! Hank Green is new to me, and WOW he's good! Being a Tolkein addict, I love the choices and genres that Peter brings to us in the form of his amazing a cappella arrangements. He's a genius. I love your reactions and feel that LOTR bond.

The Cat and the Fiddle is what Frodo sings in the Fellowship (the Book not the film) to distract from Pippin giving his real name in the Prancing Pony It's why he accidentally (or rather the ring slides on to his finger) when he falls off the table singing the last verse

You only know Peter Hollens for his comedy songs? You, DEFINITELY, need to check out some of his real songs. Perhaps, “The Parting Glass”, or “Loch Lomen”, and for something crazy good, “The Sky Rim Theme (the full Dovahkiin version!), something like 120 tracks of he harmonizing with himself!

"The Man in the Moon stayed up to Late" lyrics are original from the book Fellowship of the ring--per some comments below, I guess they put it in the extended Hobbit movies (haven't seen those), but the poem--which is supposedly where the nursery rhyme 'Hey Diddle Diddle' came from in-universe--is sung by Frodo of all people, in the Inn of the Prancing Pony, but Peter Jackson wanted a less-silly way of having the Ring get onto Frodo's hand.

The third song in the medley is from the first book (the fellowship) sung by frodo just before they meet with strider at the prancing pony. Although the verse in the book is longer.

(Is this where I confess I hadn't heard of Hank Green before I saw this? Though I have seen him on TikTok since.)
Such a fun version of these songs from the films - Peter has a real talent for attracting great collaborators, and doing great work with them.

  • @SBQDawn
    @SBQDawn ปีที่แล้ว

Hobbits are in the prancing pony and Frodo gets all caught up in telling stories and singing (Book) this is what led to the ring betraying Frodo by slipping on to his finger which calls the wraiths and is how (Aragorn) Strider comes in to tell Frodo he'd behaved foolish as that is no trinket you carry. The blend between Book and Movie is so good The movie had to be it's own version but it lost none of the story concerning the ring betraying Frodo.

As far as I know the Man in the Moon song isn't in the movie. It's in the book when they're in Bree and is the song that Frodo is singing when he falls off a table and accidentally puts on the Ring.

The Hobbit was the first "grown up" book my grandmother gave me to read when I was 4, because I wouldn't stop pestering her for more challenging books. From that young age I swore an oath that the only man I would marry was Thorin Oakenshield. I read LOTR straight after The Hobbit, and fast forward to today, I still read them about 4 times a year. I agree with you that The Hobbit didn't quite live up to LOTR in movie format. I can't help but think that if they had let Peter Jackson do it throughout that it would have turned out better, possibly with less extravagant changes and the addition of needless and useless characters, and without the absolutely ridiculous love triangle garbage. What I will grant The Hobbit movies is that I enjoyed the casting for the dwarves, and 4yo me was extremely satisfied at seeing Richard Armitage for Thorin. Not just the looks, but the mannerisms, and that voice!...🫠🤤🤤🤤 I was 7 months pregnant with my son when the final movie was released in cinema, and I don't even have the words to describe how overly weepy, emotional, and borderline hysterical I got when Thorin died. I had always told my husband that he was my second choice, as I apparently couldn't "marry a fictional character," but I don't think he realized until that moment that I might seriously love that fictional character more than him. 🤣 I'm so glad you did this video, that's a memory I hadn't thought of in a good while, and it (and you!) brightened my day. Oddly enough, when my husband passed away a year after that, and the life insurance settlement came in, before investing the majority of it I splurged and bought myself a Weta Workshop Master Bladesmith copy of Thorin's sword, Orcrist. I have cheaper copies of all the other weapons from Tolkien (and various other fantasy series), but I decided to go all out on Thorin's, and still holds first place for the most expensive item I have ever purchased that wasn't a house.
