Looks like I made a pretty dramatic error on this one with respect to the Ivory Coast/Côte D'Ivoire. My apologies to the viewers as well as to the talented Olympians of the Ivory Coast. Mea culpa.
The Ivory Coast/Côte D'Ivoire have won five medals at the Olympics, including one gold. They won their first one back in 1984 and the most recent in Paris 2024.
Shoutout to our neighbors. Malaysia has won golds in the Paralympics, but in the Olympics, they are still on the hunt for their first gold. I do hope they get it in LA28. We (The Philippines) already got our taste of Olympic gold in Tokyo and Paris after almost 100 years.
@@voxathletica We started in the second Paris Games in 1924, won our first gold three years ago, and we won two more this time. I even just met that guy who won two gold medals at a mall here.
Video idea: Why does the US struggle so much at the Paralympics compared to the Olympics? They used to do really well up until recent decades, and since then, China has mostly dominated.
#IDEA Great video. A video idea: Country broke most world or olympics record in the olympic or Paralympic events since the introduction of the digital clock.
The video for you talk about the country that has won the paralympics medal but without the olympics medal was so fantastic. As from my home country, Malaysia. We already won the first gold medal at Paralympics Rio 2016 by athletics. And we become the first country to win paralympics medal in Seoul 1988 in weightlifting, four years before we get first medal at Olympics medal in Badminton. I just really hoping Malaysia can get Olympics gold medal one day. But Congratulstion to our single badminton who won the first gold at paralympics paris 2024 to Malaysia. It was so fantastic game by the way.
Congrats to Malaysia on their gold! I am with you, I hope that Malaysia can finally get a gold at the Olympics. I did a whole video on the countries that have never won an Olympic gold medal and Malaysia was perhaps the most surprising. I hope it can come soon, Malaysia deserves it!
Thanks for you support to me. Also shoutout to Mauritius by the way. They finally won their first medal at Paralympics with bronze at Paris 2024. It means Mauritius is become the country to win bronze at Olympic and Paralympics in history. It was unbelivable desevers to won medal. Respect!
I think this just goes to show how the playing field is so much more level in the Paralympics than the Olympics. Their sports offer way more events that could be won by way more countries, and countries that are dominant in the Olympic version of the sport may not be as dominant in the Paralympic version of it. For instance, team USA won 14/48 gold medals in Olympic athletics this year but only 10/164 gold medals in Para athletics.
Video demand- Why does India performs so well in the Paralympics (this yr we are within top 10) but fails to clench a single gold this yr (our position was 72). A detailed video would br appreciated.
India has some incredible athletes but for such a large country (population) you'd think there would be more in all the events. As far as I know india is strongest in weightlifting and some of the combat sports. Of course you do have Neeraj Chopra but it feels like he is an exception. There really should be a lot more like him in the other field events.
@@anubis520 Yes, thank you..but to be honest, the truth lies somewhere in between. We are really good in some sports like Wrestling, Javelin, Badminton ,Shooting, Field Hockey Archery, Cricket, as well as in our indigenous games but the thing is that we excel in them in our own arena, i.e. Asian Games, Cricket WC, Hockey WC, etc but when it comes to Olympics a vast majority of the sports are Euro Centric which is not even popular in India and not even played. And in some others like Boxing, Badminton where we are good, we are outplayed by our European and Central Asian counterparts. This is the main reason we lack here.
@@voxathletica thank you for responding and taking my suggestion in hand. I look forward to seeing that video whenever it’s dropped. I would recommend keeping it to great athletes who have retired from competing or passed on so that this list never dates.

That's a good one for sure. I'm guessing it's more of a cultural/allocation of resources thing. What do you think?
@@voxathletica Yeah, probably something like that, but it's pretty poor from the US. There seems to be a massive drop off in 2000.

I could say the same with Israel. Took them until Athens 2004 to win their first gold, and would not win gold again until Tokyo.
