Since I am seeing this video after the game between Iowa and LSU, that game did exactly that. They had a viewership of 12+ million people and the NBA with LeBron in primetime had less than half of that at about 5.7 million if I remember right. So Caitlin Clark can raise numbers and has done so. If you look at Women's college basketball, they play in smaller arena's on campus, this year at Iowa the women's team played in the same arena as the men on campus and sold it out consistently, plus crowds on the road were much larger when Caitlin was there to play against that school. To say Caitlin wont draw numbers she already has and will continue to do so.

I know a lot of people are looking at the money. But the Big 3 is also all men. I know girls play against guys in rec centers across the country but this is a different story. Are we really going to say that Caitlin Clark can guard a former NBA player? Those guys are a bit older but they're not that old. Or she can separate and get her shot off at 6 feet when she's going against guys who are several inches taller? Can we stick with guys playing against guys and girls playing against girls? I get the intrigue. She's a shooter. $5m is a lot of money (especially with the WNBA salaries). But money isn't everything. And she is making a ton in endorsement money and can do so long into the future. But I'd like to see her take a stand and say no thank you, I'm a woman I want to play against women. That would do more for women's sports and women's basketball than her playing against guys. In my opinion at least. And she doesn't have to take the risk of taking a quick check, and potentially losing. And losing hard. And then going to the WNBA without as much momentum.

She would be marginal in a high school boys varsity game, if that. This is not a legit offer, it is a TV stunt, it is a novelty clown show, it is the same as when Vanderbilt put that girl out there to squib a ball, or when that other college put a girl out there to kick a PAT, and when that girl "sacked" a QB in a college game. It's all up to Caitlin whether or not to accept that offer, but if I was her friend, I'd advise against her accepting Ice Cube's offer. Sure it's more money for her, but she doesn't belong in a league with all men physically stronger and taller than her cause it's too easy for her to get accidentally injured by one of them. She's already earning millions just from NIL deals alone. So she's got enough money to live off of for the rest of her life bas long as she doesn't over-spend. She's got a boyfriend too who can also help provide financially for her if he wants to. So she's clearly not financially struggling.

Many of the euro leagues seasons overlap with the pre-season training campus. Lots of vets would miss conditioning but come back for games or even miss the first couple of games. Even if she were able to negotiate a non-rookie contract and make the top WNBA salary of $205,303 from day #1, it would take her 25 YEARS to make $5 million. And it's way, way, WAY worse than that. After taxes, $5 mil is $2.7 mil. If she lives off of the $700K and invests the $2mil in a fund that matches the S&P 500, 25 years later, that's a shade under $20 mil!!! Now, I'm sure she's going to make millions in endorsements, but she'll make that either way. It's 10 games for $5 mil!!! She can join the WNBA next year if they refuse to let her do both.

While Caitlin would have a huge impact, IMO, on the WNBA, I would suggest to her that she take the 5MM. Here are some reasons why: 1) the risk of a career ending injury from simply jealous WNBA players (although it's hard to imagine a lady ever being jealous of another lady and trying to deliberately do her harm), 2) the difference between playing college ball and moving to the pros. Okay, the WNBA isn't on a par with the NBA, simply based on the size and physical capabilities of the ladies when you compare them to someone like Shaq, Larry Bird, or Michael Jordan. BUT, the fact that of all the lady college players in the country, the WNBA has pulled the strongest, fastest, best means that Caitlyn will be facing a higher level of player on average than she's been accustomed to playing against. 3) BUilding a team like the one she's been playing with has taken years. Take for example: Joe Burrow had a solid team at LSU, with which he spent months practicing with during the off-season, and they did the impossible - an undefeated season and a national championship. His line protected him, he and his receivers could read each others' minds, and they ultimately became unstoppable. Not so much at Cincinnati. Then there's Tom Brady and Gronk and Edelman. Tampa built a team around Tom, and he delivered. Will the WNBA do that for Caitlyn? 4) How much money is any team in the WNBA going to be able to offer Caitlyn and if they came anyplace close to the 5MM offer, what is that going to do to the rest of the players? How much are they going to demand?
SO, the short is this: Take the 5MM, demand a "no cut clause". Get the 5MM in escrow so that she gets it even if she never plays a minute of bball. Get all the outside endorsements she can, and make sure she owns ALL the rights to anything she does. No limitations. No requirements to push the name of the team she plays for, and no limitations on using the team name as part of her outside endorsements - in fact required remuneration for any association between herself and the name of the team she represents.
But that's just my take. I could be wrong.

Not sure why folks think Clark will take 5 million dollars like it’s candy. There’s more to lose if she takes this offer. Clark was not born yesterday. Also, Big 3 is not Big 10 women’s basketball, she’ll be playing with a bung of tall, nearly retired dudes and she only has half a court. It’s like having baseball cut to a pitcher, first baser, and one outfielder. There will be other offers. This is Ice Cube’s time to advertise his brand, this is all this is.
