Hi Brittany, we’re in the UK and my Wife went through this 14 years ago, almost exactly. My wife is t4 complete, as a result of a surgery when she was five years old(long story). In her case it was a young surgeon who was very eager to operate to drain her syrinx after a MRI which in all fairness was a couple of years overdue. It really shook us both up. We went for a second opinion and, yeah the advice was very much if function hasn’t changed, it is best not to mess with it. She also has some carpal and ulnar issues, which I guess is to be expected over time what with weight bearing through your wrists several times a day while transferring etc, but nothing has changed at all in terms of function.
I’m so thrilled that you’re demonstrating advocating for yourself and studying what is going on. I’ve worked in Occupational Therapy for over 24 years and I advocate constantly for this. Thanks so much!!!😊. You’re awesome!

Hey Blue Eyes, I'm glad it isn't all bad news from the doctors. I know how hard it is worrying about what might be going wrong inside of our bodies that we can't feel. The reality is that continually stressing about it can precipitate physical problems. We have to try to find that place where we are listening to our bodies but not worrying ourselves to death. The thumb and pointer finger numbness comes and goes. I get a epidural every 3 months to keep the arthritis from forming. They would rather just say,, "Ohh their faking it or Its all in thier head".....then when you get the MRI back, all those that insulted you and gave you horrible care are nowhere to be found, like a "I told you I was hurt", as a epitah on a grave stone...no one really cares. I care ONLY because I have the wretched problem...studio apartment shut in....like, "everyday is a covid shut in day". People dont know about life, until they are laying in a hospital bed and cant move a inch, what beauty there is in this world....sometimes they need people like us to tell them...."no silly, this is not hell, it's heaven." be still and be quite....get rid of everything you think you are and live within the heart....thats the key to heaven.

I wish I was Canadian, so all this health care would be covered by taxes.
Yeah its pretty great.
My 31yr para advice is first- stop stressing bc it does no good. Your letting the "if this happens" and "if that happens" be in control of what's happening now. Myself-- I just say fk it and roll on. But u might not wanna listen to me bc folks say i ain't right.🤯
I like the fk it method lol. After all life is a crap shoot and then we die! May as well spend our time being happy and not worrying 😊
You need to come to the Texas Medical Center in Houston. You care from a fellow patient is not at my level.
Your care is better? How so? Love learning where there might be better medical treatment.

Texas Medical Center in Houston, is the largest medical center in the world. Thus having the best healthcare and doctors. That share information. I am 57 just had my 12 surgery and doing okay. Doctors who read my chart say I should have died 4 times over but I am still kicking and would not go anywhere else for medical care!!!
At which level is your injury please

If it’s carpal tunnel don’t use that surgeon, use a hand surgeon.
