"Enlightenment" and "Awakening" are some of the most misleading concepts being offered out there in the spiritual marketplace. Most seekers expect it to be some dramatic event that will change their lives and live happily ever after. Until such an event happens, they remain as miserable as ever, eternally seeking what is already available and verifiable here and now.

Awaken to the Enlightenment which is.. Experiencing your Mundane existence. Doing the things. Feeling the feels. Sitting with the heavy stuff. Letting things happen. Just being ok.
I think, they're intentionally misleading in a sense, something to accomplish, something to gain. One can't see there's nothing there, unless you're there already. So it at least gives folks an inkling, of a different view, a different way, something they can "Want", a direction to "move towards". Even if it's just words, is not any less misleading than everything else, and maybe it leads somewhere with a little more open space.

What I truly love about Suzanne is that she genuinely holds space for the other with gentle loving kindness taking the time to let the other untangle. I watched her do this when someone else was interviewing her and people were asking questions. Someone was having a difficult time but the interviewer was going to go with the next question, but she stopped and held space for this person with gentle love and kindness allowing this person to start to untangle and release. It was beautiful. Honestly I don’t listen to a lot of her videos, but what I’ve seen is ❤

I was at work this afternoon, on the final rotation of the day. Just a few more stops to go. I suddenly became acutely aware of my hands on the steering wheel and this awareness spread so that I was aware of my body moving through space. Aware of just how green the leaves are and the wind that gently moves them. Strangely it was interacting with my co workers that pulled me out of this self awareness, this feeling of harmony. It was only restored when I was alone on the road again heading home. So you are right, I believe the experience of final unity that I felt with everything around is discovered alone. It is not something someone can show you or take from you.

Yes! Even with mooji, the same core message but all the accessories around it (all wearing white robes or scarves, addressing them as guruji, followers all sitting on the floor while only the guru gets a comfy chair to sit, singing songs of devotion that often reference praise to Ram, another deity or even praise to Mooji himself) all seems cultlike, trapping in its insidious and never-questioned conditioning, and obscuring that - real - core message. It always felt off. This, on the other hand, feels absolutely natural.

Look into the Thai Forest Tradition, Monastics 'own' 8 items, these aren't the Buddhists who get all the fanfare like Dalai Lama, who is much like the Catholic church with all its hubris, these are the practitioners who are actually practicing. Look into Ajahn Chah, read his teachings for a week, reflect, breathe, do everything slowly, mindfully, then you'll see what's true from your own observations.

Just a few hours ago I wrote to myself in my diary that I'm tired of the words 'spirituality' and 'spiritual' anything. I decided that what I have been doing is better described as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Or some kind of therapy anyway, where I've been learning to take back control over my mind and emotional energies. And the reason this has been necessary is we humans have all been poisoned, ever so slowly, for generations by exogenous carbohydrate consumption. I am way ahead of mainstream society with this knowledge but probably everyone will know about it in the coming years. Maybe within 5 years. A lack of meat and an excess of carbs damage our brains and result in all sorts of neurological disorders. I now live through the natural state of consciousness because of therapy AND because I now consume a species appropriate diet.

You can control the mind? wow. so try this - sit quietly, breathe, then announce the next thought that will arise.
Exactly. Control is the issue. Its about letting go, renunciation and not being an identity that is doing something or got to get or get rid of something. Observe, feel, listen, be quiet - the path that isn't a path is within, in the silence. Best diet is no TV, no radio, no glossy magazines, no idle chatter or gossip, no news daily, no trying to get or get rid of improve the personality. Chew slowly, breathe, be with everything that arises through the senses, feel it all, know thoughts are not 'you' nor is the body. Just BE and you'll SEE 🙏🏼

Just going off the title, but will listen to this later. Yes, people often think there is a 'path to' this simplicity, but it's that first thought and the subsequent actions taken to 'achieve the goal' that arise from a conditioned mindset, ignoring the simplicity. Prior to mind IS what you are, and the thought-based 'reality' is the layer(s) of the dream into which one falls. Seeing clearly while interacting with that dreamland is true Freedom.

It's true, it seems to be really simple. It's all right now. And, my teacher often say's there is no mistakes. It's life moving in this way and this way, and that way. Everything and everyone is a potential teacher. Therefore, I think it's honest to say that there's "potential harm that can come from seeking etc. Even being in the throes of "spiritual seeking" or "Awakening seeking", is all part of it. We come through that when we do, and we don't need to make it wrong, just fully welcomed, consciously, welcomed. I am grateful for this.

The "you have never done anything" as was mentioned resonates with me. It seems that we need to do, do, do until a sense of an individual self has developed, and then that hard sense of a separate self has to dissolve, like an ice cube in a warm ocean where the sense of individual Self (Atman) remains but without the crust of separate doership.

"Believing", in this context, is something religious people do. "Fervent 'belief'" has nothing to do with "spirituality" and more "fervor" in your "belief" does not make you more "spiritual", it just makes you more fanatical. Spirituality is tentative and exploratory - kind of like science, though much more subjective, personal, and/or cultural. That said, _systems_ or _mythoses_ can play a role, but they are more "intellectual realities", that is to say, they are "languages" by which ineffable Spirit becomes relatable and workable to you.

@@MarioGabrielJ02 A simple way to find out is to ask ourselves, "Who came first, me or God?"
Of course, if we approach this question from the point of view of direct experience, it is obvious that I came first. I have to be here before I can have any ideas relating to God. My presence has to be first. Notions of God and his creation depend on me being here. The logical conclusion is God is within me in the sense that I give birth to the idea of God. I was before Buddha, before God, etc.
In the Bible, Jesus was stoned because he said, "I tell you the truth, before Abraham was born, I am!" He was pointing out that he came first (I believe Abraham existed around 1500 years before Jesus for those who do not know the bible). While my understanding of non duality might not be as well as everyone elses. Theres questions for me that are unanswered with these people who have the understanding that everything is one.
a question I have is: we know that there are higher beings than us. One would assume a being of higher intelligence (for example humans compared with a mouse) is better capable of understanding what the non-dualists claim. however there is still this game that is played in this world with everything around it involving higher beings.
Why would these higher beings still play the game when logically, they would all know about non dualism?

I have always found it more helpful to stick to what we do know and keep it as simple as possible.
For example, I have no evidence that there are 'beings' higher than us. For me to state such a thing would be very speculative. If we take an assumption to be true, we easily fall into the most common trap spiritual seekers fall into; taking a falsehood as true and then proceeding to ask all sorts of questions that can never be satisfied because they have their basis on a lie.
Concerning your question: though ultimately speaking we can say 'all is one,' some are moved to respond to the cries of the world. This is more of an impersonal urge rather than a personal choice. People are suffering and if you can clarify some things that may eliminate this suffering, it is worthwhile sharing your experience. Suzanne is sharing her experience by expressing her reality. Some may resonate with what she says and who knows, may even get to meet themselves as they are.

This means we cannot act from a place of "being unconscious". The spiritual path opens the eyes of the soul, and leads from a place of compassion, understanding and not forcing that which is not organic.

I have to tell you that based on my immediate read of your picture in the thumbnail and based on the title I see a deep sadness and a kind of construction will grief that has deadened some part of you that you keep locked away and the spiritual trap that you are talking about is actually a projection of the way that you feel trapped by your own beliefs about your spirituality. You are the one keeping yourself trapped, and your despair over the situation is causing you to cling to some sort of belief that leads to avoidance, and this very avoidance is causing the suffering. You actually cannot escape suffering, and in doing so you keep that constriction propagating. It is our delusional clinging to the belief that we can escape our suffering and make the spiritual path something other than what it is and make it simple and easy that causes the very resistance that causes the even greater suffering: our belief that we can actually escape the suffering, and the madness. No more avoidance. It is those precious few who learn to love the suffering and embrace it as a rare and beautiful but awful lover that allow themselves the chance to finally be free, and escape this cruel and awful maze that is humanity and this planet. Through the Transcendence of death.

There is always trouble for the imagined self. However, there is a space within you that knows suffering but does not suffer.
I know someone who spent years suffering from depression. Then one day his depression disappeared as he "surrendered" the nonsense that masqueraded as his self. However, even though the story of "me" and "my" life dropped away, the look of depression hung over him even though he was no longer depressed. We shouldn't assume an appearance of suffering to be of one who suffers.

You can feel Suzanne is coming from a very natural place, expressing reality from her natural state.
