Thank you for this video. I've seen several others about this topic and you did a very nice job! Update: I did this mod to both of my AC units today. Huge improvement! I spent $28 for foam boards and foil tape. Sure beats the $340 I would have paid for two RV Airflow kits!
You guys have retired in 2018 and your videos have inspired me to retire earlier. You have been retired for about 3 years, and based on your videos and how much I enjoy them, I think I'm going to settle for a little bit less and retire a little bit earlier while I can still get around good.I'm almost 60 and I would like to be able to enjoy doing things and getting the bike in and out without getting winded and without needing help. Love you're channel...happy retirement
As mentioned below, I was ready to buy an RV Airflow kit. It would have costed $180. I saw this video and already had all the materials so it did not cost me anything extra. I appreciate the video, saved me $$$. Thanks!
I really enjoy your channel because you give a lot of practical tutorials for people with toy haulers. So thank you for that. Also, I think I have met you and your wife, and I don't mean this in a bad way I mean this in a good way, you have inspired me to retire earlier than when I was going to retire before
This was a great tutorial video. Heading to Home Depot now to get the few things needed to DIY. Saved me from the spendy styrofoam pieces you can buy online for nearly $200 apiece. Much appreciated!
Best video I seen on this modification!!! Easy to understand on how to make it!!! Thanks for sharing your A/C inprovment information!!! Take care!!! Ride safe!!!
One extra note: while you are doing this you can add a thin layer of alum insulation to all areas, this will reduce sound . I used a windshield shield you buy at dollar stores for 5 bucks.
@@heavenonearth9959 I bought that cheap windshield aluminum opens up into a screen for your front windshield on your cars it's about 2 ft by 4 ft it's made out of plastic and aluminum and you can cut it and tape it or glue it to where you need inside that duck area of your AC unit in the ceiling intake and exhaust this seals it and makes it more efficient
We just purchased an ATC toyhauler and I am impressed with your know-how. ATC does a great job with their trailers, but it won't hurt for me to take a look see and do the modifications you did in your video. Thank you for your expertise.
Good work sir! Just did this for about 10 dollars per air on our 2017 solitude and installed a Micro air easy start on one so we can run it with our generator.
Thank you so much for your video. My parents have been having issues with their air conditioner in their rv. I sent them your video and hopefully they'll be able to fix that up. Much appreciated God bless
The foam diverter that you built, doesn't allow any air to come through the grill in the AC unit. I built a similar device with galvanized tin. But I only covered 1/2 of the grill. That substantially increased air flow from the ceiling vents. While still allowing cooling from the grill. After watching what you did, I will modify my "dead space" to be more aero efficient. Also, check the inside of the AC ducting for obstructions. I found the scraps from where the hole was cut, up inside the vent. Blocking the duct.
You where Right. I did mine to day and took all day to do. Your right. Now my ac keeps me warm and cold really cold. Thanks. And it saves me money with my gen running.comes on when to hot and when it cold out also. So far it has saved my 120.00 on power running. Thks great job you did..
thank you! its really gonna help me out, cuz im bout to do this to mine today! oh and i think you really did a great job at making this video! its gonna really be useful for alot of rvers
Everyone seems to be overthinking this. I simply took two pieces of 4inch dryer vent hose and ran it directly from the supply into the ductwork on each side. The hose is flexible enough to shape for each hole and just need to tape up the small openings around the hose. Then I filled the whole area with fiberglass insulation. Probably doubled the airflow in the camper and the system is much more quiet.
Hey man great video!!! I'm gonna be living in a Jayco 34 ribs I just bought and want to do that to the ac. I was wondering if I should put some r12 board up on the outside to insulate it even more. It's a 2020 and has the aluminum siding with fiberglass insulation with wooden frame. Do I need to do all that? Or would it be good the way it is. The r12 board is cheap and thought what the he'll it's gotta be better then the way it is. Appreciate your time thank you.
I cut short, 3 to 4 inch, strips of HVAC tape then stuck the tape to the ceiling & then to the ductwork to fill the gap between the ceiling and the ductwork. It took several pieces to go all the way around the opening where the vent is installed.
This is SO easy, the factories should be doing this! Thank you for a great video. I cannot wait to do this in our RV!
Kudos to this gentlemen for his ingenuity and effort!
We camp in the summer on the gulf coast. It’s hot, real hot down here.
This video is a game changer.
Thank you.

You just saved me $172.00 x 2. I was going to buy the RV Airflow system. Now I’ll just make it my self Thanks
Thank for clear, concise instructions. I have cleaned the vents but not checked them for gaps.
You're welcome!

I finally got a chance to sit and watch videos to upgrade my AC and noon of them was as good as this. I thank so much excellent explanation.
Great idea! I never thought of checking the efficiency of the air conditioner. I will definitely be doing this modification. Thanks!

Thanks buddy, regards from Mexico.
Thank you Sir for that great demonstration. I’m going to buy materials in the morning!
excellent and thank you for your DIY.
Thank you very much. I did it just like you did and it turned out well. Better air flow as expected 😎
Thanks, That was a great explanation and demonstration of improving RV A/C flow. I'm going to look at mine and see if I can incorporate your ideas.
Nice job, thanks for the video.

Well done sir, I hope to do this is the near future, your video was very helpful
Very smart idea, I think I will use that cause I thought the same way about the air flow.
Thank you for this video. Very helpful and informative.

Too bad we can’t see what you did. Sounds like a good idea.
You’re a damn genius sir
Nice job. 👍😎🦅🇺🇸
Thank you 🙏 I will try this
THANK YOU!!!! liked and subscribed.... Please info on how to make here our furnace more efficient or an alternative to replace it
Not much I know of to help an RV furnace. I did tape up all the places where the hoses connect to furnace and looked for holes. Good luck.
love this video!! keep it up!!
Well done
Thats great work
Great idea will try
What do you do about the condensation?
We’ve not had any problems with condensation.

I don’t know how much it will help but I can’t see it hurting anything.
Where did you buy the foam?
Lowe’s
When you say you removed the vents and taped from “top to bottom”, what exactly do you mean?
I cut short, 3 to 4 inch, strips of HVAC tape then stuck the tape to the ceiling & then to the ductwork to fill the gap between the ceiling and the ductwork. It took several pieces to go all the way around the opening where the vent is installed.
@@TheWanderingSteeles makes sense now. Thanks!
Big Daddy. Your welcomed
I don’t have the patience so i just ordered from a company $174..
Excellent! Poor design - seems to be consistent with a lot of the lack of workmanship quality I've seen on my travel trailer.
Keep the tips coming!
Thanks so much for the nice comment. Check out the other videos on our channel.
