Amazing! I'm so glad Sam posted a link to your video!!! Ive never seen this before! I really appreciate your note regarding safety! I don't have a very big budget at all, what would you recommend the very minimum GSM paper weight? 😂 I have been using 80gsm and about 30% of the time it falls apart before i get to the drying stage 🤦♂️ there's no way I can afford expensive cotton rag paper! I have made quite a bit of paper in the past but it's very time consuming!
Paper is really important, if it is too alkaline - the cyanotype won't work with to begin with. GSM is important if you are going to tone because it might disintegrate in too many baths. This works okay www.cassart.co.uk/fabriano-accademia-artist-pack-160gsm-150-sheets-a4--c/ but I recommend the higher GSM version.
It’s great to have you back here Melanie.
I will try this with some of our Australian native plants; plenty of them are rich in tannins
I’m looking forward to hearing about your experiments!
@@MelanieKing I shall report back :-)
I’ve only toned them with cheap instant coffee so will definitely give it a try
Very cool! I didn’t know you could tone cyanotypes and I conveniently have Rosemary in the garden and some cyanotype paper in the closet. Thank you
That is great! Good luck with the toning 😊
Didn't know I could use rosemary and others like that! Thanks for the video. Just FYI, the audio seems to only come from my left earphone.
Yes you can. Ah, sorry about the sound. I will let Nicola know, who processed the video.
Great video, educational, and keeps the original photography going. Thank you so much.
Thank you!
Fortunately I have my own Rosemary bush. Have you used lavender?
I haven't but the leaves should work, as they are in the same plant family? (I am not a botanist, ha ha!)

@MelanieKing Thank you so much!! 😁
Are you using the old cyanotype formula or the new cyanotype formula?
10g pf to 100ml water, 25f fac to 100ml water 👍
What do the soda crystals do? Is this a standard part or something done to add an additional effect? Thank you!
They "bleach" the image, so the toner "takes" to the cyanotype better.
There is NO Volume to this video, disappointed
Uhh, there should be. Was your volume button off?
