Thank you so much for this incredibly helpful video!!!! We have 3 animals so when we do laundry, it seems as though all the pet hair clogs up. Thanks for educating the community and appreciate your volunteering Thanks to team Could you please post some more videos with small small tip which any one could do without a mechanic
I did three loads of cat beds after receiving my new washer and the sud code came on so beings I bought it specifically for my rescue I will check filter after every load or two. I knew when I saw the easily accessible filter on the front, I knew I better get it... But it's interesting how my old duet filter only needed cleaning about once a year! So this filter system must be more sensitive and probably catches more debris. Ill try it on the morning and how I fix it. Thank you for video because my manual booklet did not mention the drain connected to sud code.
Thank you so much for this! What an amazing and quick fix (I have been putting colour catchers in my washer which apparently are getting caught in the filter). I really appreciate this help!
thanks so much, I expected it to be dirty and it is but couldn't believe it clogged too since my daughter's sock was in there too. no idea how it got in there. LOL, Thanks so much for the clip.

Hey, your video has been SO useful! My family recently moved into a new house and the previous family left their washer and dryer. You've helped with the suds issue, but I can't pull out the filter 😭 It just keeps spinning. I saw a different comment about the same issue and read your reply, but that didn't work either. Any ideas? Oh, and did you mean to have a link under the #2 in your pinned comment? Because we had that issue. Except it would say Suds during the rinse part. I hope you're still an active channel! You've been a blessing to start with!
Thanks for watching, we have copied & pasted our comment from your other video request in hopes that it helps. 😎👍 Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. At this point you will need to replace your filter housing. This part connects to the Drain Pump motor/housing. This is a friendlier fix than you think. 😀👍 Below is a link to a video replacing a pump motor to a different washing machine however you will see the filter housing part as well. th-cam.com/video/M2LltDIjNl0/w-d-xo.html Please keep us posted. 😎👍🔧🔩
@@DIYwithMichaelBorders Update! Before we tried anything else we double checked the manual and missed a page about the filter! Turns out the child safety lock was on (which is both hilarious and humiliating) and my mom was able to get the filter out! 🙌🏻 That explains the spinning. Both my dad and I failed to get the filter out even with the idea to push in 💀 At least it was an easy fix. We would have had no idea where to start so once again, thank you!
@@ChicNuggetu OMG...😁...we appreciate you sharing your update. Great to hear you’re back up and running. Hopefully many stress free days ahead for you. 😎👍🔧🔩
@@ChicNuggetu help!! We also got this washer from buying a house and I think are having the same issue, only we don’t have the manual. Is the child safety lock when it spins and clicks? And you said pushing it in unlocks it? Because I’m trying that and it’s still not working! What page of the manual are you referencing? Thanks!!
@@skitzkit Yes! So sorry to get back to you late I got a new phone and I still have to turn on notifications for some apps. The child safety lock is when it spins and clicks! You do have to push it in and turn it counter clockwise in order to completely take it out. I don't know why but my dad and I struggled with that but my mom got it easy, so if you don't get it after five tries, KEEP TRYING! This is mentioned in page 52 of the Samsung Washer manual. :) (It mentions unplugging the power chord, but we didn't do that bc we can't reach it where the previous family placed it, it should be fine to do it without unplugging, just make sure the machine is off, and drain it with the little hose connected!)

Thanks for the great video! I just found a mask in there also! After getting the SUD error over and over, we just kept pressing 'start' and the machine would attempt to finish the cycle. Eventually it would get there... Although this time, there was an almighty cracking sound, then dirty water spillled out from under the machine. Do you reckon it's ruined, or is there some sort of pressure relief valve for the drain pump which had simply released???

@@DIYwithMichaelBorders Thanks for the reply!! the machine finished it's spin cycle and pulled the water out fine, so I think the pump works OK? Thank you so much for making this video I was able to fix my machine without calling for handyman. Found a lot of gunk in that filter surprised it was working as long as it did lol 😆
I tried emptying the filter and the hose; some water came out. However, the SUD error code didn't go away. This code happened on an old Samsung and this method worked. My current Samsung washer still gives that SUD error even after emptying the water from that lower compartment
Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. Is your lower pump filter 100% clean? You may need to perform a full system cleaning. Below is a link to our video showing this process. th-cam.com/video/rFy1NmEX9ss/w-d-xo.html Please keep us posted. 😎👍🔧🔩
@@DIYwithMichaelBorders Hi Michael, sorry for the late reply. I finally got it fixed by unplugging and replugging the power cord. Before that, I added water in as well as mixing it with some fabric softener. After waiting about half day (hoping the suds would dissipate), the SUD message was still there. Short of opening up the cover to check the sensor or call the technician, unplugging the cord works. I guess that'd be the next step to do if clearing the lower filter compartment. Yes, the filter was clean. This washer was relatively new (a few months old only). This is a learning experience for me to not overadd detergent ever again:)
@@paulle1553 Thanks for the reply. Being a newer machine, you shouldn’t be experiencing issues this soon however we are hear to help with any & all questions. A system cleaning procedure may be a good thing.
A stud code is too much suds. To check for suds run your machine in rinse mode empty adding no soap. If you are getting suds in a rinse with no clothes then your machine has soap buildup. Keep running the rinse cycle until you see no suds or minimal suds this may require a dozen times. Once you have removed the suds in rinse mode. Go to your clean laundry towels preferably put in a few clean towels . Now run the rinse mode do not add soap. If you get suds again you washed clothes have built up soap in them use no soap or a lot less soap a teaspoon. Then repeat this from the beginning. You should not get large amount of suds from clean laundry. Cleaning out the pump is a good tip. The spinning pump if not getting water will spin and cause some suds but isn’t the main cause. Every so often run clean cloths in rinse to verify that soap has not built up in your clean clothes remember it can cause rash if it builds up be irritable in most cases doesn’t bother anybody but some may have reactions to built up soap. Thank you for the detailed guide, especially the ‘little tips’ like having the towel handy for very clogged filters and the need to be gentle with the tubing and plastic parts
Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. Sounds fun & the same thing happened to us years ago.
We purchased a house & the washing machine was 4 years old...&...well...it kinda looked & smelled like it was never cleaned...not ever...🤣

Thank you so much for this incredibly helpful video!!!! We have 3 animals so when we do laundry, it seems as though all the pet hair clogs up. I pulled out that filter and it was completely filled to the rim with animal hair, and misc things. The washing machine always smelled like urine and after draining the water from the tube it seems to be slowly going away - here’s hoping the laundry smells fresh once the cycle is done. Thank you again!
Good morning ☕️
Animal hair buildup will definitely do it. And that’s a great point…now that it is cleaned out…you may notice a fresher cleaner smell.

Thank you and I had this problem and after watching your video and it fixed. After draining all the water, I unplugged for about a minute and it perfectly worked out. Thank you so much

Such an easy fix! Surprising how many little baby things came out of the filter (4, the answer was 4!)

Thanks. This was a good help and fixed my problem.
I would add to the removing the filter portion
- I had to tug and wiggle it free from bound up hair
- It is GROSS. It smells rancid and is filled with hair based sludge.
I definitely earned a Klondike bar.
Thanks John, and your added advice is greatly appreciated. This project can definitely be a bit gross as you mentioned. 😎👍

Thanks for the follow up. Any update? The filter cap/plug itself should have a over-tight prevention design to it not allowing you to over-tighten or under-tighten it.
Kinda similar to the your gas cap on your car.

Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. At this point you will need to replace your filter housing. This part connects to the Drain Pump motor/housing. This is a friendlier fix than you think. 😀👍

@@DIYwithMichaelBorders Update! Before we tried anything else we double checked the manual and missed a page about the filter! Turns out the child safety lock was on (which is both hilarious and humiliating) and my mom was able to get the filter out! 🙌🏻 That explains the spinning.
This is it. It fixes the error. Thanks!
Thank you! I have 3 dogs and 2 cats so my filter was filled with pet hair. I will clean this every month when I clean the drum!

@@paulle1553
Thanks for the reply.
