Great review. Bonus points for the underutilised 'doozy' and the 'teeny-tiny'. Liked the look of that meal. Still have an aspiration to fly east, with Swiss (and Finnair) but connection timings always seem too tight to trust.
Bundnerfleisch is basically air dried beef "prosciuto". It would look similar to carpacio. The other " thing" seems to be a a cross between cold pulled pork (or veal) and "Rillets". It is however not what you would cal a typical Swiss dish.
Another transit through London, another bright and sunny day. As someone who lives here, please can you switch flights at Heathrow more often? Like, daily during the summer?
That gate is so much nicer than the agricultural one BA flights arrive at 🤣 Agree with you about the consistent pleanantness. SWISS biz was the first time i tried Tete De Moine and the FA took time to explain what it was. The A220 is such a pretty plane - like a mini Dreamliner :)
Same here for the Tete de Moine… I actually wrote that into the script only to remember when looking at the video I didn’t actually get it on this flight haha.
LHR's terminal 2...doesn't seem as good as terminal 5 but at least better than terminal 3. Terminal 3 is the worst, like a drab and worn-out warehouse. As for the A220, how does the cabin feel like? Does it feel cramp? Legroom and looks aside, how was the seating comfort?
In economy it feels ever so slightly more spacious (these seats considering "ecnoomy" as well...) but in 2x2 seats in premium classes they feel cramped compared to A320s and 737s.
The Air Canada versions have a much nicer business class set-up. I understand the shorter flights between cities are why the European airlines don't configure their planes that way.
I have no idea what the food is. Aside from the beetroot, it looks like a dessert plate and not a main at all. Strange that there was no menu in business class to tell you!
I know euro-business is what it is but I’m surprised you didn’t still decide to ding Swiss for blocked economy seats in business. Or is the idea that it’s all relative to other airlines in the region…? My thought is, they do that because they can and it’s what everyone else is doing. Doesn’t make it good or right.
I don't penalize them becuase I consider it a different class and it is exactly as expected. Same as how I don't penalize US "First" class for not being an Emirates First Class Suite lol. Also, in quite a few cases, I'd prefer to have the seat next to me blocked rather than have a recliner where the tray table is in the armrest and my neighbor is 2 inches away lol.
Hey man, big fan of your work. Just want to say at the 4:23 the audio has a small blurp. Not sure if you can do anything once the video is posted but just wanted you to know. Keep up the awesome videos!
@@tfft that will be why then. im not one for plane numbers i just about know the difference between the big ones but i have family in Geneva and travel their often, being a bigger fella the swiss planes are more comfortable and roomie compared to BA and the usual low cost carriers with the 3 3 config
Seemed good on the business side. I recently flew to New Delhi on one of their old A330, and that was a "meh" experience: old outdated IFE and only one meal proposition, vegetarian... The return flight on Lufthansa economy A350 was so much better...
Fantastic video as always! Thanks for the review :D If you're ever back in South Africa you should maybe give SAA's long-haul options a go since they're starting up a few more routes. Would be cool to see how our long-haul flights stand up to other service providers.
I would love to try swiss' 777 & 220, given the opportunity. As for LHR t2 lounges I'd go for SQ or AC, but heard the United club was a solid choice. Looking forward to your LX review from LCY.
Hi Kevin great review. I used to fly Swiss from Asia to transfer to small euro cities via Zurich. My only complaints were ordinary food and their cabin announcements were in 3 or 4 languages and so took forever. Is that still the same?
Ah I actually love the announcements haha. I don't remember where I read this, but I remember reading that the announcements from Zurich must be in German and English and from Geneva in French as well- more languages that that are at the discretion (and ability) of the Purser.
LMAO the statistics board is hilarious for anyone who's been to LHR Quite literally everyone complains how bad is getting to the airport , transfer or check-in 😂
Thanks for the video. Re Star Alliance lounges at LHR T2 please note that the Singapore Airlines lounge is about to / maybe already has close for renovation. It will be closed for many months.
Kevin you must be the fittest most adaptable person on the planet- long hauls, who knows where you eat and what you eat/sleep to jump from plane to plane - will take me a week to get over esp I need a shower and toilet and privacy....not to forget anxiety that is getting worse by the day! Good luck with your venture mate. I wonder if my friend Jennifer Knecht or her partner were at the helm of the Swiss flight as both are pilots....
I flew this same airline and aircraft to Geneva from Gatwick 2 years ago from London Gatwick (albeit in Economy) on my to a skiing trip. It's a nice little bird and the service on board was great, despite it being such a short flight. Would deffo do again.
Good review, thanks for sharing. I've just been looking at Swiss for UK (MAN) via Zurich to Cape Town. The thought of ending up on Lufthansa for the long haul makes it much less attractive.
Hi Kevin, a while ago you changed your intro and told us to wait a while before we gave an honest review. I can now say that I 100% preferred the old intro. The music, structure and general energy of how your videos used to begin was much, much better. I obviously still enjoy your videos and I'm an avid follower/subscriber. I'm just giving you my opinion as per your instruction several months ago. Happy travels!
Brings up a curious question, becuase I've since changed the trip report videos intros again some weeks ago, but didn't mention anything lol. But, well noted. These newer 'in the middle of it' cold opens are both easier to make and have also increased viewer retention- so, in that sense they will bring you more and more videos over time! haha.
‘Tis not a rabbit hole I’d rather not go down. I generally don’t like to answer questions that trigger people in the comments. Not from you, but I’ve had my fair share of absurdly nasty comments in the past months related to opinions in that region lol.
Lufthansa is quite the group. Have you flown Condor?
I haven't- have always wanted to try out their new A330s though- but just tough to fit their routes into my plans!
Clean, modern, efficient…nothing more needed. Thank you for this review 🙏🏼
Hope you’re on the mend!
@@tfft It’s a real struggle, thank you 🙏🏼

For this direction I’d go for AY. Thailand is practically their new adopted home lol.
Beautiful Air Craft,SWISS Is The Best Airlines In Lufthansa Group My Opinion.Great Video

How do you think of Qantas A220's cabin
A220s are decent for economy but generally provide a subpar 2x2 business/first experience- same could be said for any A220, I think.
Bundnerfleisch is basically air dried beef "prosciuto". It would look similar to carpacio. The other " thing" seems to be a a cross between cold pulled pork (or veal) and "Rillets". It is however not what you would cal a typical Swiss dish.
Ah ok good to know. Just a Swiss-esque concoction then. The crew called it "beef" but surely it may have been veal as well.
So which airline is the #1 “most consistent”?
Singapore, by a long shot.
Another transit through London, another bright and sunny day. As someone who lives here, please can you switch flights at Heathrow more often? Like, daily during the summer?
If it makes you feel better, my transit there in December was rainy and gray haha.

Would be shocked to get printed menu on such a short flight tbh.
Nice report and the backround music, which is that? ❤️
All track titles are in the description.

Excited for the virgin cruise
Was one of my favorites!
Just landed in LA to cover the Oscars....but first...some TFFT with a splash of sunshine.
Now there's a comment I wasn't expecting haha.
Appreciate what you do...and if you're in LA by any chance!!!@@tfft
swiss is one of my top euro short haul flights. the fact they dont cram in the 6th seat is so nice. really changed the vibe of the cabin.
Well, they would if they could, but A220s cannot fit 6 seats across haha. No one puts 6 across in an A220

It’s like Alitalia, it’s ITA now but cod is still AZ
More or less, yup.

I did their A330 over Christmas and enjoyed it- possibly because my expectations were pretty low lol.
I absolutely despise euro-business class... always annoys me when flying within europe
Just a trade off between knee room and elbow room!

It's quite amazing that so many other airports use Dubai's DNATA ground handling crew.
I mean, it’s ‘just’ a global company like any others. Could say the same about their competitors like Swissport or even fuel suppliers and the like.
Great video! Emirates' old first class has more must watch signs that the new 'Gamechanger' one?
It does 😉 When you watch the Gamechanger video, you'll quickly understand.

Would have got more points if I didn't say some said it looked like cat food in the video lol
