Kevin! Excellent video as always! To answer your question, those armchairs are made by De Sede, a swiss manufacturer, and the bottom frame piece of the armchair is designed with a logo of a tail fin with the swiss cross in the middle. De sede really takes attention to detail when it comes to their Swiss pride, and showing it off when they can. Hope this answers your question, and again, great content!
16:50 this is a thermometre for the PCA tube, the external airconditioning connected to the plane. You can see them hanging on the belly of the plane and are almost always yellow!
Even though I travelled economy and so no lounge access was possible without hefty fee, still I could easily spend over 6 hours at Zurich airport. There was so much to see, and something that truly stood out was their open terrace which for safety reasons unfortunately is not an option in most of the places in the world. Their train shuttle between terminals and unique way of advertisement through projections on outside wall in sync with train's speed was my first time experience with that tech too! I was tired through the overnight flight but the charm and excitement at that place kept me awake. I wish to go there again and experience a similar long transit.
The video’s content was exceptionally well-scripted and detailed, showcasing a deep understanding of the topic. Its thoroughness and clarity made it both informative and engaging.
Awesome aircraft operations watching! I've descended through clouds when landing many, many times. One flight from Germany landing at O'Hare Chicago was struck on the right wingtip by lightning, causing a huge orange fireball. All lights green in the cockpit and a normal landing. The one that freaked me out the most was a landing in Zürich. We were descending through clouds on final and "WHAM!", we hit something. It turned out to be the runway! 🤪
I've had the exact same experience on my Austrian flight to Vienna. In the video it's 7 seconds (if I remember correctly) from total white out to on the ground.
Kevin, great as always. The tarmac and runway videos were simply outstanding. Thank you as always for your fine work. I truly appreciate you and what you do.
@@tfft no, I used to frequently fly on Emirates and Gulf Air A330s back in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, those were the days, until those aircraft were retired. As clean and crisp as their livery 🍎 Beautifully filmed runway action, incredible to realise it is captured by phone 🤩 Thank you for another great review…despite your hectic travel schedule you managed to upload it 👏🏼
When I heard your next Japan Airline First Class video, I was immediately searching and only to find that you just released this video 😂😂. Great video as always! I am so looking forward to the JAL F class video!
Thanks for the tour, I had actually been checking out US to Singapore flight plans for 2025, Swiss Business came up for 2,00O less than United’s SFO direct flight, though there is an 11 hr layover is Zurich, not so bad now
Thanks Kevin for another great video. My pick for the iPhone video quality exhibit was the taxiing of the EK A380 and the silver shimmer of the water on the tarmac. Beautiful. I have a guess for the actions of the proud Swiss lounge host. I think the Lufthansa group once advertised that their leather lounge furniture was from a very famous up market Italian company Poltrona Frau. So maybe the host was showing their branding. The leather in that lounge is impressive so just a guess. Thanks again.
Ah ok that could very well bit it. I’ve always known Poltrona Frau to emboss their logo- but I suppose SWISS is a bit too classy for such branding haha. Thanks for sharing ✈️
Hey there Recently just stumbled across your channel. I'm a big fan of a lot of Travel channel but honestly there's just something about this one that really makes it stand out and I mean that in a good way. The attention to everything is just fantastic. Whilst some Travel TH-camrs it's become more about them (Which don't get me wrong I still enjoy their stuff.). This one still feels more about the flight itself including the parts before and even after. So yeah, Every vid you post has now become a must watch.. Thanks alot and keep up the good work. :)
I’m at the 7:37 mark and I have only one thing to say. I believe in aviation karma and Kevin, you bring us the best of aviation world with videos such as this, you were blessed to see all those aircrafts and tarmac views in person as a thank you! Now, I would be looking at the same terrace if and when I transit through ZRH. I am sure the rest of the video is gonna be awesome which I will continue watching after this comment. Once again thank you for bringing such outstanding quality content to us! 🎉🎉
Hey, Kevin! I really had been looking forward to getting to watch this film. I was happy to see how much you enjoyed the experience. Just like you, I'd love to live in a place that looked kind of like the Swiss lounges. I'm sure you've done your research and know that the design was created by PriestmanGoode, who are also responsible for the upcoming "Senses" cabin on LX's A350s. I do fear a little bit that there will be some changes to the color palette, but it doesn't look bad. I reckon you must have already watched the "Senses" film posted on the Swiss youtube channel, right? I know you respond to trends and tastes of your public, but I do wish you assigned some time to destinations that are not necessarily tropical beaches, if possible. But I will definitely watch everything you produce. Great job as always and thank you.
I certainly do take in feedback and I would also tend to agree with you. The problem is, while there's potential for any flight video to have a decent ROI, resort videos are much more difficult to break even on (which is why so few creators make them to begin with)... so, until I have a channel large enough to care less about the ROI, I need to try my best to make videos in places that will support the channel, as this is my full time job.
Good to see you again Kevin. Just got back from 6 1/2 weeks in Europe. A total of 13 flights. I don’t know how you do it. Also I got this great window suction mount for my iPhone.
Oh man... that terrace! I'd visit or even move to Zurich just for that, haha! Regarding the Northern Lights, the one and only time I ever saw it was aboard a Cathay Pacific flight from JFK to Hong Kong. It was over Greenland and lasted for two hours. There was no announcement by the Captain and I felt like I was the only one watching. I put on some of my favourite music and witnessed the "show" which is one of the greatest scenes I've every seen. I really hope you see them too some day!
I've flown out of Terminal E so many times since it opened and never realised it had an Observation Deck! Enjoyed the Observation Deck B a few times though.
Another great informative review Kevin, thanks! I've never mustered up the courage to book SWISS business class given the mixed reviews but this has tempted to take another look. They offer quite competitive business class RTW fares out of Australia (naturally with other Star Alliance carriers up to Asia and back across the Pacific). And yes, I love ZRH too, very close second to SIN for me - I travelled there a lot 15 years ago when TG were flying my fave aircraft BKK-ZRH, the A340-600. Tried to get a routing through there on QR later this year but couldn't so settled on FRA, ho-hum! And lol, Newark views, New Jerseys second finest collection of semi tall buildings 🤣
@@tfft in terminal 1 departures, if you pass immigration and go left towards the escalators. On the second floor around there, there is a water lily garden which has views of the apron/runway I believe. It might even double up as a smoking area, not 100% sure. But went up there last year. It’s all signposted in the near vicinity, so hopefully you shouldn’t have too many problems finding it :)
The D gates are also for "non Shengen" flights, although mostly the ones from the EU area (narrow body planes) only very rarely you are requested to depart from a D-Gate when you are flying a wide body plane (happend one time in 26 years and that was in COVID when the E gates were closed). So basicall you never really were in Switzerland - you can divert directly from D to E via an underground passage.
Great video as always! You could have also mentioned the nice view of the prison you had on final approach 🙃. I hear when the inmates misbehave their punishment is that they are sent to Newark Airport 😉
Interesting upgrade offers but since they're only available at the gate the buyer is too late to take advantage of the lounge, first out bag tag, and the book the cook additional menu selections. Thanks for the 48 hour booking trick for the single seats!
As always a fantastic report. I really love your videos. I cannot help you about the lounge’s chairs. Not IKEA I guess… designer’s furniture was never my thing.
Hey Kevin, long time viewer, first time caller here. Yet another exceptional report, and yet another airport added to my "must-see" list! If I may ask, what kind of mount do you use for your iPhone to record your views from the windows? Your shots are something that have always kind of stuck out and set your videos apart from other creators.
I don't always mount the camera anymore- having it hand held allows me to get multiple angles instead of being "stuck" with the same straight out angle. But, for night shots, I do usually still always use the mount. It's a GoPro mount with around 6 other parts and pieces added to it to be able to operate like I want to. The key is the part of the mount where the phone itself is must be pressing against the window with some force, it can't just be sitting on top of the mount independently like a normal GoPro would.
"I died a little inside" Great one!😂 There's always a next time Kevin. BTW, congrats on passing 100k subs! You should do a short video showing off the silver plaque! The airport is quite nice and clean. I like the minimalistic and modern look. However, I know Switzerland is famous for their mountains and beautiful countryside (I hope to visit the country one day) so they should put a few panoramic frames, some live greeneries to spice it up and not go overboard, just to remind people at the airport what they will miss when they leave. The hanging thingy inside the cabin is probably a mechanic inspection light. It shouldn't be there especially when the plane is about to take off!
Thanks very much. I did make a 100k video already, but not featuring the Silver Plaque- I've been on the road since I hit 100k so haven't actually seen it yet lol.
Kevin, Changi Airport doesn't have a terrace because of Singapore's hot and humid weather so nobody would be able to tolerate it enough to enjoy the view of planes landing & taking off. Also, Singapore also experience thunderstorms (with super heavy rain, strong winds, loud & severe lightning strikes) all year round, most especially around November - December. So, perhaps the authorities & airport designers didn't think it's safe or desirable to incorporate a terrace? I don't know. I'm just guessing. Changi does have many covered plane spotting areas throughout the airport both landside & airside, for both passengers & non-passengers.
@@tfft True but I guess when those gardens & outdoor areas were designed, the focus was not on whether or not we can get good views of the tarmac but rather on designing the gardens & outdoor areas to be appealing & meeting the purpose for their construction & incorporation in the first place. Especially considering there are many air-conditioned & safe areas for plane spotting throughout the airport already incorporated.
We enjoyed Swiss flying J to SIN last year and found Zurich a very relaxing airport. Did you miss the yodelling and cowbells on the train to the E gates? One small criticism we had of the Business Class lounge is if you have a late night flight the lounge closes at 2200. The transfer from a London flight to Terminal E was a million times better than our return flight from SIN with Lufthansa transferring to a London flight at Frankfurt - that is a nightmare
I didn't know that Swiss is supposed to be Lufthansa Group's premium carrier. It's stuff like this in each of your videos that mean I'm always learning something from you.
I am flying swiss air from lhr-zrh, in business, and then zrh-jnb, in first. any idea if the a gates first lounge still provides a car service -seen previously in others' videos in the past- for swiss air first passengers to the e-gates lounge? seriously enjoy your air videos thank you
I have a few routines to ensure it doesn't effect me in the slightest- I've discussed it in detail in one of my Patreon posts a few months ago. A big tip though is, don't force yourself to sleep (or stay awake) on a flight. Fight your body on the ground, not in the air.
I want to add a bit to the Visitor desk's: The main one is located on top of terminal B, accessed behind check-in 2 and between the prayerspace and some restaurants. The platform on terminal E is accasseble to the main platform on the weekend's afternoons during the "warmer" time of the year (Aprill-October). During this time the Platform cant be accessed from the terminal E! Access for non travelers/turists costs 5 CHF and means one can go and enter the whole day, just be aware that the terasse is behind a dedicated security checkpoint. If one is traveling from or to Zürich airport: on the day of your travel, you get free admission if you provide a vaild ticket! So you migth want to go and check it out if your able to. This next part is more for people that speak/understand german or aviation fans: During the same time frame as the desk E is added one can book a short (5/4h long) tour held in german. Its operated on Wednesday and the weekends and cost's 10 CHF. This tour drives you around the airport and showes some of the behind the scenes. BUT the best thing is when it stops and allowes you to exit. There is a smal place at the intersection of the 2 long runways, that puts you in the middle of everything and allowes for some great opertunities for pic's and vid's. It has also a speaker that is connected to ATC (think it is Arrival and Departures) and a marking of the runways on the ground. This spot can be seen on google maps and is great. Beside that the airport offers tours for groups that you have to book in advance and then they show you great behind the scenes of what makes a airport work. Hope this helps
Great job, as always! As a Swiss guy, it always makes me feel happy to know you enjoy your time there! It really is a shame that European airlines tend to be so far behind Asian/Middle Eastern companies. Euro Business class with Economy seats drives me crazy, especially when compared to what you get on EVA or Vietnam Airlines regional Business class! Do you think this is more of a cultural thing or due to larger demographics? Anyway, thanks again for taking us on your journeys, it truly is a pleasure! Merci !
It is purely an industry getting away with whatever they can. Everyone puts US carriers on a pedestal (relatively speaking lol) for offering better seats on domestic flights- but fact of the matter is, if one of the big three installed Euro style business class tomorrow, there would be outrage for a few months and then, what do you know... the other two would surely follow suit. They can make bank with crappy seats, so what's the motivation to make it better- better seats likely wouldn't attract enough additional revenue to make it worth while.
@@tfft Gotcha, makes total sense! Thanks for the answer and always great videos! Here's to hoping a Euro company will one day break the cycle (though, based on your answer, I highly doubt it)! Cheers and safe travels!
I (11 y/o) was traveling with my family in 1989 to Stuttgart from the U.S. and we had a connection in ZRH. A female security guard grabbed my backpack from me and yelled at my father that she was going to look for drugs. My father snapped back at her and said there were no drugs in my bag and he had to physically restrain my mother from attacking the lady. I haven’t set foot back at that airport since.
If you went over to Gstaad airport during the WEF conference at Davos (Gstaad is the nearest airport) you could geek at all the VIP business jets. Saving the planet from CO2, you know.
I am alwaysssss trying to try SAS to be honest- but I can rarely find decent deals with them. Hoping that next year perhaps some redemption tickets will be available through Flying Blue!
I appreciate that they attempted to sell last minute upgrades, though they should have used a carny to do the sale pitch. It seems a shame to leave premium seats empty, when some people are probably willing to pay a few hundred bucks for an upgrade. It is sad that the flight was so empty. I wonder if that is related to award availability. Just a few years ago, United used to offer seemingly unlimited award seats on all the European Star Alliance partners, but nowadays I rarely see them. As a hobby, I book award travel for 25-30 friends and family, so I am constantly searching for those opportunities.
Amazing video as always. Glad you enjoyed your experience. I try to avoid Swiss A330, as I personally find it rather uncomfortable. But I also think that we often underestimate how a full or empty cabin (or lounge) makes a huge difference. Did this maybe affect your score?
Perhaps in terms of the service on board being really attentive- but otherwise, I personally don't really care whether the cabin is full or not (if I have a solo seat). As for the lounge- I've been in packed SWISS lounges before and you could still hear a pin drop- so they're always enjoyable for me lol
Don't worry Kevin ... the Schengen/non Schengen can be a confusing nightmare to navigate for most of us non EU citizens to navigate. "Is the cow's name down there?" 🤣
Ngl I’ve only been to zurich airport (no lounge access) and I remember being bored to tears . But I was a kid and not interested in airplanes at the time
Different generations of the same seat, better? Lol. They are the same manufacturer, same layout structure, same finishes, same dimensions, same features… I’ll leave it at that.
Kevin, we were center stage of the dancing sky (aka Aurora Borealis) when it happened. It was a once in a lifetime experience (well this was the 2nd for me). Happy flying !!!
Great video as always Kevin, I feel that they are a little underwhelming these days - having flown them from Singapore it seemed similar if for only the difference in equipment- hopefully the new seats will invigorate the product and the food too - thanks
It is not a proper flip flop traveler report since you didn’t wear flip flops😂😂😂😂😂 the seats are indeed the same as TAP, Austrian ans Edelweiss use, but these 3 airlines have bigger tv screens, I don’t know why Swiss opted for the small screens.😮
Again maybe I am the only one. Would not pay a premium for Swiss. The seat is outdated. But to be fair I am celiac and GF food even in business sucks. The lounge in Zurich is amazing, but again if you are not gold in Star Alliance and paid 5000 USD for a flight why won't you get senator lounge. United should give United club for Swiss customers who are not Star Alliance gold flying on business class and not polaris. Sorry do not get it for international flights. But I have to say This lounge is better than Vienna or Frankfurt Munich airports. For mileage redemption this is a solid redemption the price you paid. Service. Excellent value and like the adage says beggers cannot be choosers
To be fair to SWISS though, United (and American and Delta) are the outliers when it comes to lounges and the ridiculous rules to access them lol. I know the Senator Lounge being "higher" than the Business Class lounge is strange, but I think it's simply LH Group trying to recognize their most loyal customers (who surely have spent more than $5k) rather than the one off leisure travelers and the like. All that said, the SWISS Business Class lounge in Zurich is pretty nice as well.
Hey Kevin U may not know me but I have been watching u since ur Singapore airlines BISSNUSS class with flip flop score of 85/100 . I jus wanna say I am proud of u from 38k to 100k subscribers. Can u give me a shoutout i would really appreciate it. - keep it up
Ehhhhm, how come your shoes didn’t fit? Don’t you always wear, like, flip flops? Oh and all J and F seats should also have a ‘wake me up for cool stuff’ button. Not just a ‘call’ and ‘don’t disturb me’ one. Just saying.
I very rarely wear flip flops in airports these days as believe it or not- the quality of filming is lower. I never use gimbals in airports and with flip flops (or any hard soled shoe) you can see each foot step and it's quite jarring. With sneakers, it's much smoother. So, my sneakers didn't fit 😉
What a well-documented and brutally honest assessment of Swiss services on a trans-atlantic flight. The schengen immigration seems a bit mind-boggling, doesn't it 😂?
I really think Changi is completely over rated. Overnight layover options are just so poor with a gate design that I hate. Not having access to drinking water and toilets at every gate is crazy.
Maybe try not to be so judgmental and condescending about Schengen exit processes especially when, as you declare, you’re unfamiliar with them all. I’m American, too, and I go with the flow and I don’t post judgmental statements like you did in the first few minutes of the vid. Travel well, and take down the judgment,
Yup. Most condescending and judgmental. I can tell that you were trying to be funny … but it isn’t. I go out of my way to fly LX and to connect through ZRH all the time … the place is efficient and amazing. I wish you’d tone down the condescension overall.
Imagine being offended by a 4 second comment about a visa policy in an otherwise rave review of both the airport and flight. Y’all are truly made for each other.

...assuming it's open lol
Now, I'm going to have to visit the lounge to flip chairs to find out! Great video!

As someone that lives in Singapore, Changi Airport does have a terrace. However there’s no shade up there so it is absolutely boiling
With panoramic views like this? Near which gate? (I don't mind the heat lol)
@@tfft in terminal 1 departures, if you pass immigration and go left towards the escalators. On the second floor around there, there is a water lily garden which has views of the apron/runway I believe. It might even double up as a smoking area, not 100% sure. But went up there last year. It’s all signposted in the near vicinity, so hopefully you shouldn’t have too many problems finding it :)
look forward to zipair soon, Kevin!!
Appreciate that!
I am officially addicted to this channel. I eagerly wait for new videos'
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
The D gates are also for "non Shengen" flights, although mostly the ones from the EU area (narrow body planes) only very rarely you are requested to depart from a D-Gate when you are flying a wide body plane (happend one time in 26 years and that was in COVID when the E gates were closed). So basicall you never really were in Switzerland - you can divert directly from D to E via an underground passage.
Thanks for sharing ✈️
Great video as always! You could have also mentioned the nice view of the prison you had on final approach 🙃. I hear when the inmates misbehave their punishment is that they are sent to Newark Airport 😉
I wouldn't want to spoil all of the surprises in store for someone visiting Jersey for the first time :)
Think the dates on your upcoming videos list in the description are off. It claims the next video is coming out the exact same day as this one.
Can't win em all haha. Thanks for pointing it out.
Thanks for the video. I have also started filming flights
Thanks for watching 🩴
Excellent video as always. Can't wait for your next one.
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
Interesting upgrade offers but since they're only available at the gate the buyer is too late to take advantage of the lounge, first out bag tag, and the book the cook additional menu selections. Thanks for the 48 hour booking trick for the single seats!
Thanks for watching 🩴
As always a fantastic report. I really love your videos. I cannot help you about the lounge’s chairs. Not IKEA I guess… designer’s furniture was never my thing.
Appreciate that!
Hmm, well Changi does have multiple outdoor areas and gardens- just none of them with good views. Thanks for watching 🩴
Been to terrace at ZRH main concourse, it reminds me of similar terrace at Taiwan airport
Which airport in Taiwan?
@@tfft Taoyuan airpot, outside of food court, above the check in area.
Nah I heard them, but wasn't sure if the tune had a copyright so couldn't include it in the video haha.
I didn't know that Swiss is supposed to be Lufthansa Group's premium carrier. It's stuff like this in each of your videos that mean I'm always learning something from you.
Appreciate that!
It definitely rained, but water sprinklers were on. Found it a bit odd.
I reckon the Swiss do an odd thing now and again 😅
What is the brand and model of your camera mount that you use to film your video? And what camera did you use ? Just out of curiousity😊
It is a mix of many different parts- beginning with a GoPro mount.
I want to fly out of Zurich purely for an opportunity to visit the viewing deck haha. Great job as always Kev.
Yeah, I honestly wish this was my home airport lol.
I am flying swiss air from lhr-zrh, in business, and then zrh-jnb, in first. any idea if the a gates first lounge still provides a car service -seen previously in others' videos in the past- for swiss air first passengers to the e-gates lounge? seriously enjoy your air videos thank you
Honestly I have no idea but my guess would be yes.
@@tfft thanks- safe travels
Hello Kevin. I am sure this has been asked before. You fly all over the place, in and out of time zones etc... How do you deal with jet lag?
I have a few routines to ensure it doesn't effect me in the slightest- I've discussed it in detail in one of my Patreon posts a few months ago. A big tip though is, don't force yourself to sleep (or stay awake) on a flight. Fight your body on the ground, not in the air.
I want to add a bit to the Visitor desk's:
The main one is located on top of terminal B, accessed behind check-in 2 and between the prayerspace and some restaurants.
This next part is more for people that speak/understand german or aviation fans:
During the same time frame as the desk E is added one can book a short (5/4h long) tour held in german.

Nice 😊. Too bad about missing the Northern Lights tho 😢
Another day!

WHY were they watering the grass when it was raining?
Perhaps they like to blend the rain water with the alpine water haha
I (11 y/o) was traveling with my family in 1989 to Stuttgart from the U.S. and we had a connection in ZRH. A female security guard grabbed my backpack from me and yelled at my father that she was going to look for drugs. My father snapped back at her and said there were no drugs in my bag and he had to physically restrain my mother from attacking the lady. I haven’t set foot back at that airport since.
If you went over to Gstaad airport during the WEF conference at Davos (Gstaad is the nearest airport) you could geek at all the VIP business jets. Saving the planet from CO2, you know.
Had someone comment on my LCY-ZRH video that I was irresponsible for not taking the train... which is 9 hours 😅
where is al bustan video?
Posted about a schedule shake up on my Community tab last week. It's coming.

Nice video! Greetings from Sweden. You should give SAS a try, if you haven't already. :)
I am alwaysssss trying to try SAS to be honest- but I can rarely find decent deals with them. Hoping that next year perhaps some redemption tickets will be available through Flying Blue!
@@tfft SWISS sometimes has tremendous bargains: Once I flew non-stop from Zurich to Bangkok and back for $ 500.
Very cool vidéo 😊😊
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
I appreciate that they attempted to sell last minute upgrades, though they should have used a carny to do the sale pitch.
Thank You ✈️

"Is the cow's name down there?" 🤣
Thanks for watching 🩴
Ngl I’ve only been to zurich airport (no lounge access) and I remember being bored to tears . But I was a kid and not interested in airplanes at the time
Next time you know what to do!
The business class seats on B777 at SWISS are not the same as the ones on this A330
With the exception of the table placement, they are.
I fly as crew in the LH group. We also have the 2 same cabins and i can assure you that its not the same cabin/seat at all. 😊😊😊
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
Great video as always Kevin, I feel that they are a little underwhelming these days - having flown them from Singapore it seemed similar if for only the difference in equipment- hopefully the new seats will invigorate the product and the food too - thanks
Thanks for sharing ✈️
Interesting flight 👍✈️🇷🇺
Thanks for watching 🩴
I could stand at the terrace all day and miss my flight.
Same!
Well, TAP has much more updated seats now :)
I'm early

@@tfft Now that’s a pro talking!
What a well-documented and brutally honest assessment of Swiss services on a trans-atlantic flight. The schengen immigration seems a bit mind-boggling, doesn't it 😂?
It just doesn’t make sense to me… in theory, I could have just walked into Switzerland lol. Thanks for watching 🩴
I really think Changi is completely over rated. Overnight layover options are just so poor with a gate design that I hate. Not having access to drinking water and toilets at every gate is crazy.
The design simply wan't made for "no liquids" days- they know it's not the way forward- as shown in T4. Thanks for watching 🩴

Newark is the worst
Not even close to the worst lol.
Maybe try not to be so judgmental and condescending about Schengen exit processes especially when, as you declare, you’re unfamiliar with them all. I’m American, too, and I go with the flow and I don’t post judgmental statements like you did in the first few minutes of the vid. Travel well, and take down the judgment,
For real? You think that was ‘judgmental and condescending’…? Good lord. No words.
