This video and the upcoming series will make me want to visit Japan again so badly… I’m in awe of how almost every detail of their culture, design, infrastructure, food…well basically their whole society oozes quality, class, organisation and sophistication. Definitely my favourite country to travel, explore and enjoy ❤ Thank you for this video and the upcoming series! 🎉
Completely agree. So many dog them for having ‘complicated’ systems for travel. I’m just happy some countries are still attempting to have a system at all! Haha
Jetstar in my region are strict, regarding check-in time., flight check-in closes 40 minutes before departure ✈Awesome flight review here Kevin, i've watched alot of flight reviews in YT, and your video's re transport & hotels are the best i've watched., and i like your background music in this video👍
Last year i took ANA from Kansai to Haneda. It cost only 9500 yen and the time taken is roughly similar compare to taking the shinkansen and way cheaper. You can also find budget carrier on this route starflyer but for some reason they do not accept my card hence i book ANA instead. Japanese is very efficient. You only need to arrive 20mins before departure for domestic flight.
It is pretty obvious Jetstar and Jetstar Japan are different companies. I am not sure if Jetstar has every managed an ontime boarding... With the cabin baggage limit. They say you are required to have your bag weighed and receive a tag. But I have never actually seen any of the jetstar airlines actually enforce this once boarding begins. I'd imagine it would be too difficult
Interestingly for the Jetstar Japan group they would have to be sent down to Melbourne because the parent airline has an academy there this is to ensure that they have the same standards as the parent Airline. You also see this in AirAsia Philippines their crews are trained in the parent company academies in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. otherwise both Jetstar Japan and AirAsia Philippines wouldn't have the same quality as the parent airline based in Australia and Malaysia. For the Nankai Train how were you able to pay for it my guess you used a Suica Card and then refilled that using an Icoca machine? Excellent trip report overall and what you could have done from where you started before this trip NRT-KIX which was NRT-BKK. You could have also tried PR730/731 & then PR407/408 or PR411/412 BKK🇹🇭-MNL🇵🇭-KIX🇯🇵 that would be an alternative to this routing. Keep in mind both BKK-MNL & MNL-KIX have their loads 90% Filipinos the other 10% are Americans just like you followed by Japanese and Thai. My mother did that last year
Japan is my all time favorite country. Everything about this country is so very super positive as far as I'm concerned. It is the land of being super impressed about everything within the country.
Hello Kevin nice video cool info about Jetstar ownerships. Nice little hop over to Osaka then the train. And yes definitely the trains are in clean top condition. Like you said Amtrak it would be hard to find even a new train as clean. Enjoy your video's. Just to let you know all my comments are self funded and are told by me alone lol. Looking forward to next video
As a Korean, one thing I appreciate the most is the proximity to Japan. Korean in my age usually have visited Kansai area(including the Airport) more than any other Japanese in same age group(sadly transportation is more expensive for domestic travelers over there). Once you get used to their rings and chimes(and their own rules in transportation), you would find Japan the most efficient place to travel around. That Rapid train is more familiar to me, especially since that has been my last place to have a meal before finishing my one-day trip from Seoul. Looking forward to seeing the following review from Japan, especially the Hokuriku area, which is my favorite region even within Japan.
When it comes to videography in Nippon, Kev is no Sneaky McCreepy. Can I get a "hell yeah"? 🙌🏻 Also Kev needs to do a Japanese Muckbang where he films himself shoveling ramen noodles and Asahi into his cakehole for our amusement. 🍜🍺🍺
jetstar japan (or frankly many things japan) is better than jq and 3k combined haha! also, nice namba express train! p.s. 13:00 it seems like the population of kansai region isn't 41.5 million? maybe i'm wrong but a quick google search is around 24 million-ish?
The anxiety is too real when you have carry-on weight restrictions, you think you've managed it properly, and then you get to the compulsory weighing station ...
I simply had restrictions on hand baggage. Most Asian carriers are so strict bc there’s an expectation that crew WILL help and so this ensures it’s a reasonable weight. If a low cost airline would sell a big tag that said “yes my carry on is 38 pounds and no I don’t need help” for the same price as a checked in bag, I’d be happy to pay.
I had no idea that there was a Jeju Air airline company (at 3:55). Jeju is a very cool island off the southern tip of South Korea. There are dozens of flights per day between Seoul (Inchon and the older Gimpo) and Jeju and also many more from other cities on the mainland. Absolutely worth a visit or even a day trip if you're ever in Korea.
Good review. Bonus-point for the manipulation lesson. Just one - you're not getting a second. No, you're not! No! P.S. The train? I was picking up Spartan vibes from its nose.
Kansai airport is my nightmare. Its so far from where i live so each time i must take a bus or ferry to the airport. The security line is also like a lottery too😅
As a North American-based traveler, weighing carry-on bags is literally foreign to me. It also makes little sense as one can loophole it by wearing any clothes (as you have) or carrying some items. Why not weight the actual person? Especially for myself as a lighter person vs someone significant heavier than me, why fuss about a few kgs in our bags?
In east and southeast Asia it is assumed that the crew will help any pax put their bags overhead if necessary- unlike in much of the west. Weight restrictions ensure the crew aren’t injured.
Oh the calm! Perfect start to my Saturday, thanks Kevin. PS the cleanliness of well, everything, leads me to conclude no Japanese parent *ever*, has lost the battle of the “don’t touch my stuff” teenage bedroom 😂.
Well they start ‘em young! In most (maybe all) schools, the kids are the cleaning crews and clean a bit each day after themselves and the facility itself. Wish the rest of the world thought of such a system 30 years ago lol.
I’m so looking forward to the Japan series. It too is my favourite country to travel because it’s so easy, the transport infrastructure is top notch efficient, even though it may not be the most modern everywhere. Travelling Japan is such an adventure and I can’t help but smile every time over there and walk into a train station or airport and see all the Japanese signs, announcements and just taking in my surroundings. Weird but true, it’s a very relaxing, enjoyable experience.
Great video and loved the train - I was just in Japan and travelled on a couple of their “special” trains, they always leave me speechless -looking forward to the rest of the series 👍
Japanese airlines often offer top-notch services whether it is domestic or international. Anyway, an another superb video Kevin! That was a huge let-off at the boarding gate right, wasn't it?
Kevin, your videos are far more than mere "travel conveyance" reviews. Your openness to and appreciation of other CULTURES transforms your work into beautiful and educational "travelogues" (or "culture-logues"). Thank you!
The airport code in the opening graphic should of course be “NRT-KIX”… would have been great if I caught that before publishing 😅
you could still blur them (...)
Blurring would probably cause even more confusion lol. I think everyone is clever enough to figure it out 😉
@@tfft haha yes

I have yet to take that train. Yeeees, the combo trip was awesome.
Love Japan trains.
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
Hello Kevin, I just wanna say your voice is very relaxing. It is perfect for narrative.
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
That train made it look like you were on your way to Fhlostom Paradise :-) Turns out the Flip Flop Traveller is actually Korben Dallas.
What can I say, you’ve pulled back the curtain.

Background music for the train ride was perfect. Although I always imagine Ghibli soundtrack for every video about Japan. Great content as always.

The Shinkansen from Tokyo to Shin Osaka is cheaper than the taxi from KIX to Shin Osaka 😅

Jetstar is not bad for the price, but if time is more important, I would take the Shinkansen between Tokyo and Osaka every time.
Thanks for watching 🩴
Big accidental-Wes-Anderson vibes from that train.
Perhaps his films in fact have Japanese train vibes. 😅
Can you do videos about what you do in-between flights and why you go to certain countries?
I reckon a video of me working and sleeping wouldn’t be too interesting 😂
Interesting flight report 👍✈️🇷🇺
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
Typical of Japan, I noticed the food offerings on Japanese Jetstar were very reasonably priced, and your meal looked really good.
Sure was!
Hey I think you still got the route from BKK -> NRT like the Zipair one, it's supposed to be NRT -> KIX right?
Yah, I’ve just pinned a comment saying as much. Thanks!

It is strange how ill prepared the airport is for security… as if they never imagined it would get busy lol.
Loved this

My shoulders still feel lighter! 😅
The train reminded me of Haruka trains that go straight to Kyoto from KIX
Very cute trains
Also took that train, but the exterior was the same as an overnight train I took, so didn’t film it.
Thank You for reports, Kevin. Leaving for Japan in November 😇🙏
Enjoy your trip 🗺️
The airport code seems wrong at 0:17? Shouldn't it be NRT-KIX?
Haha yes. Would have been much more helpful if I caught that 2 hours ago 😂

1:30 in I was thinking the terminal looked like a track field! 😎🤣 Great vid as usual.

... also, was that an old LAN cargo 777 at take-off roll?
Looks like it!
If you think that train is nice, just wait until you get the chance to ride the Blue Line from O'hare
I chose a 90 minute cab ride instead a few weeks ago lol
Wait - jetstar parks at the pier? i thought the low-cost airlines lands at the low cost terminal? Or its just Peach?
At Narita? To my knowledge this is the ‘low cost terminal.’
@@tfft oh sorry for being unclear - I meant in osaka (KIX).
It's just Peach, Spring, and Jeju Air in T2 KIX. IMO it's a worse terminal than the Narita low cost one.
Always untill the end!

Going to enjoy this series.

Nice little flight! I’m really looking forward to the rest of your Japan series as I’m thinking of going there next year 🎉. Thanks for sharing 😊
Lots to come. Today’s is one of my favorites!
Noticed you at an exit row window seat. You were okay being an ABP, again?
Of course, as I have countless times before. Except this time with bog standard procedures, unlike with Zipair.
