In Sanskrit the noun is Bharata and the nominative form is Bharatam.
      So you should write Bharata.

Correction. India that is Bharatam. Some people have a feeling that the British named our country as India. India is much much older than Hindustan, older than Christianity and derived from Indoz or River Indus.

I have always loved how Rajiv ji is able to magnify the breaking India forces at every level & provide us with a much clearer view of ground realities. The portion towards the end where he talks about the lack of supply of solutions to this uprising caught me in a mixed feeling~ happy that the concept of Rashtra is getting acknowledged & also there is a concern at the lack of infrastructure to shape, modify & provide perpetuity to it.
Thank you Vijaya ji for asking such significant questions.

He is true to his roots best of intentions and have very extensive understanding of how other country works. It's time we start bringing the true 'Vidvaans' like Rajiv ji to advice on national matters.long live bharat and long live rajiv ji.
One of the best way to get bureaucrats work is by exposing them to public and answering the public if anything goes wrong. Most of the time they are hidden behind the curtains and public really don't know them. They should also face the same faith as the politicians and must be answerable to public .

Hindu Rashtra is the only solution to save our country from breaking India forces. Secularism in India itself is Congress mischief during Indhira Gandhi's time in 1976. Our founding fathers never bothered stress on that point because when the country was partitioned on religious lines, the left over land after giving much of the land mass to the muslims was hindu, and hindus believe in peaceful coexistence with followers of other religions. Hindu Rashtra does not mean persecution of other religions.

In 70 years the %of practicing Hindus got reduced from passmark level to less than TEN %.Spirituality is must.Large scale efforts to increase %of practicing Hindus necessary...including door to door education ...External practice is not sufficient. Experts should start debating etc throughout India. RSS should include Spiritual practice also.

  • @sbharadwaj1
    @sbharadwaj1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I felt that this was an interesting conversation!! It is important to recognize the term "Desha" or Desh. Bharata Desha has subcountries like Maharastra, Saurashtra and the Rashtrakutas were a South Indian group of kings. The "Cross Rashtra" entities which go cross Desha and look to rebuild the Desha are important. When Shivaji was attacked he fled South to Tanjore and Arcot. Vijay Nagara was an important counterweight to the various Islamic invasions till it succumbed in the mid 16th century.
Today, the "Rajya" needs to work with the multitude of Rashtras -- eg. Thamizh Rashtra, Andhra Rashtra, Kannada Kutas and Kerala Rashtras in the South and Kashmir in the North and Bengal in the East to build a "Rajya" for the Desha that can serve the citizens of the Desha. Interdependence across the unified Desha revolves around Religious, Political, Cultural and Linguistic Unity. We need to define "Rajya" for the Well-Being of the citizenry. Economy, Military Maintenance, Foreign Policy and today, Health, Industry, IT&Telecom, Insurance and other key requirements are cross Rashtra and the "Rajya" has to effectively address them.
The discussion here use a different definition for "Rashtriyatha" which looks at the Cultural and Territorial Entity of "Bharat" which is also a valid use of the term. Since ancient times "Bharata" has been existent as a subcontinent and it is important to note the precept, "We need Rajya for the benefit of the citizens of the Rashtra" and all its constituents.
Today Bharata as Rashtriyatha has evolved from its erstwhile and well laid out and beautiful Puranic Definition. Rashtriyatha has to be emphasized given the fact that India is a physically small relative to a huge population. Rajya, therefore, has to build Rashtriyatha and help the Rashtras integrate well with each other.
Uniformity is not as important as Unity. This is perhaps the key lesson we learn from Gandhiji who should be considered the father of Modern India. He has taught us well what the Buddha and the Vedas and Puranas teach us. We must build on this idea of "Unity in Diversity" as a central theme in Rashtriyatha. The Rajya has to emphasize this more and more.

Brilliant analysis, India has many thinkers such as this and the demand would be the formation of a think tank composed of these people. Recently I stumbled onto some TH-cam videos with Professor kapil Kumar etc then Prof CK Raju etc they should not be lone voices and one step that the Modi government can do is to give space to such thinkers. One stranglehold on Hindu society has to be the Hindu temple endowment trusts and give temples their freedom.

As always, Rajiv ji is brilliant. As I understand - As is the micro system, so is the macro system: Rastra as the soul, is collective national identity, Rastriyata is analogous to patriotism. Rajya as a state is analogous to the body. Rajakiya is governance, analogous to ego management. Maya or Tamasha is the Maya of political drama that is to be managed objectively.

This discussion mentions the untranslatable concept of "Rashtra". You did not explicitly convey here what "Rashtra" is all about. But you arose the curiosity of the audience on the same. I googled a bit and found out your thoughts on "Rashtra" as you are about to express them in your upcoming book on the grand narrative of India. This "Rashtra" concept triggers few thoughts in my mind hence this comment. Few concepts that you incorporate in the concept of "Rashtra", those are really unique, and rightly correspond with ethos of bharatiyatva. One is the concept of "interdependence". Another is the importance of "spiritual individualism" or due consideration given to spiritual progress of everyone. This is very interesting, indeed. You are really bringing a new perspective on the Bharatiyatva rooted political thought. The western thinkers take pride in the western political thought, as it got expressed in Plato's republic or in the speeches of Cicero or other great rhetoricians of roman state or in the works of renaissance era thinkers say like Machiavelli or the enlightenment era thinkers (ex. federalist papers that are important for the American democracy) etc etc. In the same line of thinking what could be very Bharatiytva rooted political concepts, or what could be India's contribution to the political thought. You thinking certainly brings new perspective, a perspective that on one hand fits well with other political thinkers from India (who were there during independence struggle of india and thereafter) yet makes unique and further contribution . I feel your Bharatiyatva rooted political thinking may help explain many things. Say for example one may wonder why despite supposedly good political and economic system why Latin america failed to deal with crime and drug related problems ( and could Latin america's problem be solved by giving due importance to spiritual upliftment of individuals). On other note, I think in initial days the Indian national congress had all the necessary potential to develop the sort of thinking that you are talking now. Indian national congress was created by many who were associated with the theosophy movement ( ex. Anie Bezant), thus those leaders were interested in Indian ethos and spirituality, but the turn of event in early 20 the century with the Russian revolution and the world wars made the congress more socialist, and over the period more and more averse of indian spiritual ethos. One other point, when you talk about this necessity of a space for spiritual progress; this reminds me the Bhagvad-gita verse "yada yadahi dharmasya glanirbhavati bharata.." ...The essence of the verse points to this task of the "Avataras" or good people, the task of renaissance of the "Rashtra" whenever the "Rashtra" is in decline. And one important aspect of the renaissance of "rashtra" one can see from the work of Rama is that of reestablishing order in the tapobhumi-ashramas ( thus the safe spaces for spiritual progress) in the dandakaranya. Thus the thoughts expressed in this interview resonate at many levels. Also this interview helps to summarize the broad direction your thinking and work is going towards. This interview very nicely connects all the issues / complains that you are talking about since many years.

Calling the publtc moronic is unfortunate and a gross generalisation. Poor people have voted for Modi even though their needs are still to be met, and when asked why, they replied,,,, to ensure the safety of the country . The middle class has a reputation of being apathetic while the wealthy are proactive to protect their interests. Modi's acceptance speech was inspirational...especially his reference to only 2 castes..the have nots and those who would help them....hopefully the 'rajya' will lay the foundation for a new 'rashtra'.

If we were to look back on recent history, then it could be said that Mahatma Gandhi gave a clarion call to the freedom fighters of Bharat through his seminal work under the title of "The Hind Swaraj", to rouse the Rashtra lying buried in the debris of history in order to usher in Swaraj, his definition of a Rajya in the year 1909.
In 1947 the outer shell of Swaraj did dawn, but it turned out to be merely a transfer of colonial power from British hands to Indian hands. The framers of the Indian Constitution while realizing that they had merely given a legal shape to the former colonial form of governance in India with trappings of a parliamentary legislative system and also that it was in fact at considerable variance from the vision of Swaraj that the Mahatma had toiled for throughout his life, introduced a separate chapter under the heading - "The Directive Principles Of State Policy" incorporating the essential goals which had been set before the country during the freedom movement on achieving Swaraj, as the objectives for which the Constitution and governance in India would keep striving for in the long run.
Tinkering with the Constitution of India is a tricky business and an elected government with a mandate for five years to fulfill promises made in the party's Election Manifesto, would hardly start its work by doing so, but perhaps a peoples' movement to address the "The Directive Principles Of State Policy" could be thought of as a means to achieving the vision of 'Swarajya" which would enable the Rashtra to emerge as an organic development.

A country is desh. Rajya is area under governance. A nation is Rashtra. Hindu nation spans the country of India, Fiji, South Africa, Nepal, etc where Hindu diaspora lives.

True sir he did take on regional breaking India parties, but also promoted breaking India regional parties down south in Telangana state and Andhra pradesh state, and now we the people of andhra pradesh are left to mercy of a person more dangerous than Hitler, only way for andhra people is to fight back, the vedic way.
Observe the loss of lives and property this 7 days?
    No national media reported, why?
Are people of andhra pradesh not part of this Rajya?
    Our capital is ?
Our major water supply dam polavaram?
    Our industrial investments?
    Employment operations?
    Law and order?
    Too many ..... ?

pretty much everyone in India who has a cell phone uses google services or apple services.
Even if they don't use the mail, they probably did when they did not come into power and had to do all the formalities of using government provided mail.
They also use services like google search, maps, apple maps, gps, android, youtube, ios, windows and the list keeps going on.
And it doesn't matter if you use it personally or not, even if your known uses it, that is enough to mine data on you.
For example, Tejasvi Surya just pulled out his phone and did a google search to prove Prakash Raj wrong in a debate.
This means he uses google services and has been using them. If 40 years from now he becomes the PM, google already has a profile on him.

Rajiv Ji spot on Bureaucracy. But what is the alternative format?
States recruit Group2 Babus and they are still worse, purely corruot and political appointments.
So what is the way out, we cant leave District admin in hands of MLA/MPs in anyways.

Rajiv has been carrying out a great mission for Bharat building a solid foundation for a strong Rashtra. People's colonial mind set has to be changed after 1000 year slavery. As someone said : India did not get independence on 15 August 1947 but had change of administration to brown sahibs with colonial mindset and administration. This has to change first. But i do not see this happening under Modi, sorry to say.

Rajiv speaks truth which is bitter for west and western fallowlers. Some good things we should learn from the China about building rastra. Even being communist country it kept the west on the bay and controlled the religious conversations.
