For the gear slipping issue, I'd recommend just having the engine sideways with wheels directly attached to the crankshaft, this will prevent gear slipping and I find it makes the engines perform better.
I know this is two yrs old and stuff, but you can try to make a sort of clutch system where the driveshaft and rear axle meet. Just make the driveshaft two blocks shorter, put a piston right before the cross, and connect it to a switch and make it push onto it. Works well for doing hill-starts and pulling heavy stuff. Just let the engine rev up, dump the clutch, engange it, then dump it until you're moving fast enough for it to not stall. I did this with kAn's three pìston engine and cluld pull a semi-loads worth of stone
@@gearzpop8457 yea so the piston in on longer but when i build engine i have the whole timing pattern on a bearing with a different design so i can change it on the fly

So, I really can't understand how does it work. I mean, do you use 45 degrees between each part of log and use that 4 sensors to power pistons? I tried to make the classic tipe motor with 45 degrees, but 30 works better. Sorry for my English, I'm Russian🇷🇺

Yeah that's another way to look at it. Though I like this way as it seems more natural and probably gets caught less going over stuff.

take two of those engines and put them in a V configuration (so you have a V8 engine). it would be so cool, if you dont want to do it ill try myself.

I made a v6 its slow revving at 2000 rpms in apparently reverse I was trying to tweak it to run better and broke it
It is still to be improved, however excellent ingenious and original work
