One of the best roof top tents I have seen, very solid construction. And even better it's all Australian made.

9.9 out of 10. Great quality and functional product. The only thing I feel its missing is some form of small shelter awning over the side windows.

Those awnings you see on some roof tops are a $ead &uck to pack away and never wear well… trust me lol. I was lucky enough to get a one trip fully optioned Rt1 overlander package second hand. the quality and simplicity of use is unmatched! The marine felt finish mitigates condensation pretty much altogether. I’m a prospector and the last thing I want at the end of a long day swinging the coil is to muck around with an over complicated roof swag trying to be ten things at once.

Looks great and is very functional
I can see the quality in the canvas also tight so no flapping
Supa peg poles are the best
The only thing I think that needs redesign are the ladders
When set up the rungs need to have their flat side horizontal not On a corner as most cheapies
Not sure how long the telescopic ladder would work when fine beach sand finds its way in all those sliding surfaces
Check out the James baroud ladders

Why don’t you make it so it has an awning over the windows so if it’s raining you can still have the windows open? Makes sense to me to do this. This is a reason why I won’t buy your RTT 😢

    • @bossaluminium
      @bossaluminium  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Fair question. Our rear awning offers far more protection from the weather/rain than other tents on the market. This means you can have the rear window almost all the way down in heavy rain, so air flow is no issue even in tropical conditions. You can actually have the side windows open about 200mm in heavy rain due to the outer flap on the outside and the door sits inside. It’s something that we might look at as a option in the future.

  • @Davi.b

I can see 2. Design flaws.
    1. The side windows are open to the rain, EVEN WITH THE 100 MM FLAP. no ventilation during terential down pours, meaning wet bedding and or condensation,
    2. The front awning holds the pull down cord up on the roof. This means its out of reach and will flap all night in the wind, meaning no sleep , its obvious you have not lived in this tent during a wet month,
LIVING IN is one thing that ( NEEDS ) TO BE DONE DURING THE DESIGN STAGE, TO FINE TUNE ALL THE LITTLE PROBLEMS,
AT THIS VERY MOMENT IM LIVING IN MINE, N HAVE BEEN FOR 3 MONTHS, SO I KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT, YOUR AWNING STRUCTURE HAS TO MANY MOVING PARTS,
( MORE PLACES FOR THINGS TO GO WRONG )
    USE THE KISS METHOD.
ALL VERY GOOD HAVING THE SHINY BLING. BUT IS IT FUNCTIONAL ?
IM NOT BEING CRITICAL IN ANY WAY, SIMPLY PUT. IT HAS TO WORK RIGHT.

Hi Dave, thanks for the feedback 👍 The side windows can be completely closed when it’s raining as the rear door has a full hight window built into it. Meaning you can have the rear door window canvas unzipped, rolled all the way down and the mesh is still in place. This allows you to control the amount of airflow through the rear door, as the awning is so large it offers protection from the weather.
The rear awning system is a very simple setup to use and offers great protection from the elements, It’s also extremely robust. There is one pole, one strap, and one arm that slide out from the body each side. It’s fast to setup and pack away taking most people around a minute (it can been done in under 30 seconds).
We are constantly using, testing and developing our products to make them the best we can. 👍
