Saw this in Amazon, looked it up on TH-cam and found your video. Weighing my options, but this o tent is probably what I'm going to go with. Thanks for covering it in detail. Awesome stuff.
I got my NatureNest in March and have 15 nights overland camping in it. It's a terrific product, and why anyone would spend another $2,000 for essentially the same RTT is beyond me. I am 5'11" and I sleep comfortably. Above 6'2" any wedge shaped RTT may be a challenge (unless you're sleeping alone in it, then plenty of room to lay on the diagonal). Rest assured, this is a quality product which I never take off my roof.
I am 6' even, and I was wondering about just that...how comfortable will it be for me. My back of the envelope calcs say it should sort of just so work, but hearing (reading) first hand is better. Thanks!
I think you should be fine. I'm 6'2" and my feet just touch the bottom and I sleep with my feet basically in the middle with my head in the corner and I sleep fine.
@@AllThingsOverlanding can someone that is 6'2 fit comfortably with another person? is it long enough or would I need to curl up? I dont really want to curl lol. Thanks!
@@williamclementi Good question. I’m 6’2” and I just fit. My feet touch the bottom but they’re not crunched or anything and I’ve shared the tent with the wife with no problems. When I’m by myself I move my feet over a foot (sleep slightly diagonal) and they don’t touch at all. So, it’s close but it’s worked for me!

Just installed one of these on my Land Cruiser - I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the fabrics, stitching and features. The awning coverage was what drew me to it as well.
Considered this RTT, but ended up with Inspired Overland 87lb RTT for $1299. Absolutely love it, weight was a big deciding factor for me between the two.
Makes sense! I don't really notice the weight up there, but I've got sway bars on the truck still so if/when I remove those it may become more noticeable.
I'm giant sized, and married with a kid now... but I used to rock roof top tents up until a few years ago. I WISH this tent was around back then. 😂 This looks like a great option for that price!
Awesome looking for a new tent i really like this one, thanks for taking the time to share your tent with use. Right now i have the Roam Vegabond and i want something with a lower profile and easier to set up the room is kina a pain on top of my truck i gotta climb all around it to close and open it everytime.
GREAT VIDEO!!!! You covered everything! Very concise and to the point without a bunch of "war stories" I truly appreciate product reviews like yours and wish more people would be as to the point as you are. Only one question can bedding be left in there when closing? Thank you for your video!

Thanks for putting out this video. Seems like a great quality, fairly priced RTT. Now that you've had it a while, any issues crop up? Have you had any water intrusion. when it was folded up, ie driving in rain? Thanks.
Hey there, nope! I've spent over 30 nights in it at this point and it's still doing great. No leaks, everything is still functioning fine. I'm loving it, honestly.
Wow…I have the CVT Mt Hood and, no complaints about the CVT except that it costs about 2x what this one does and it’s virtually identical! Of course, this one wasn’t out/available when I got mine 20 months ago so all I can say is that: if you’re considering a hardshell rtt, this one looks like a great option!
Thanks! That was kind of my thought as I was looking at some of those bigger name tents but then I saw this one and I've spent about 30 nights in it at this point and it's doing great!
Wow...i recently sold my mint ikamper mini and what i lost in resale is the cost of this one. I'll be getting this one as the wedge style is way better. Ikamper was king for years but glad theres less expensive options now. Just like many products the improved vertions eventually become available
Thank you for a good walk-a-round. I'am very impressed with the features and quality. Do you have a video on the set-up perhaps? Or can recommend one please? Thanks for sharing. New subscriber here from Michigan.
Welcome to the channel and thanks so much! I don't, but you're about the third person to ask about it, so I'll make a new video showing the setup and teardown of the tent ASAP! It deploys super quickly and easily and goes down really easily too. The only kind of tricky part is tucking in all the fabric, but I just stand on my tailgate and it makes it pretty easy. I'll get a video shot ASAP!

Thanks for the review. This seem like a really nice RTT for the price. Could you tell me the depth of the mounting rails underneath? I’d like to make sure they’ll clear my side awning attached to my rack.
Man, I do love my DesertArmor tent, especially because it came with winter insulation panels, but I certainly don't love that it doesn't have the modular channels to mount things, nor does it have cargo bars.
you have a V shape tent, ground or roof, get the kind with a bug screen little window at the point of the lower V. Air comes in and goes through the whole tent that way.
Haven't had any trouble with airflow through the tent, but definitely agree with that style of tent for more foot room. Stay tuned because I actually have something in the works that will be like that...
Great review, love the simple open/close operation. Can you tell me how far apart the attachment rails on the underside are? And how are they attached to the floor, bolts, rivets? Thanks.
@@THENEWWRANGLER I camped in mine last night and it was high 20s low 30s here and it did great. It’s actually pretty warm when you zip up all the windows.
I usually try my best to buy American made stuff. If I can't, then I'll buy made anywhere but China. But in this case, this is a great example of the manufacturer selling this almost no-brand product to consumers for a reasonable price whereas other "Overland" brand names probably make their tents in the same factory in China but charge 2-3x more. -- I love competition! I foresee more people getting into overland with tents like these and the big names are going to have to lower their prices.
I see two different listings that look identical on Amazon. One is $1249 other is $1548. Do you have any idea what the difference is? also loved your video - very well done and informative!!
The stitching is great! And I actually used it in the Badlands in a hail storm. It did great! If it helps, here's a little snippet of that storm that I posted as a reel on Insta: instagram.com/reel/Cu6_6NlAAo4/
I was using the OVS 180 (Link here: amzn.to/4cgzCuI) but only because I already had it. It's a great quality awning and if you have an SUV with a rear hatch, it works great. They also have a well priced 270 awning if you have a truck and want the back covered (Link here: amzn.to/3xvKZjd) or Naturnest sells a 270 awning that might work even better with the tent (Link here: amzn.to/3KZSceF). Personally, when I switch from my 180 to a 270, I'll likely be running the Openroad 270 awning because it's about $500 for a 270 and it's free standing (link here: bit.ly/3VUqeqM). Hope that helps! Lots of options, :D.
Can you show how you mounted your awning to the side of the tent? I currently have a 270 awning and would like to reuse it on a hard shell roof top tent. Also, can someone 6'0" fit in this tent? I saw a review stating she was 5'6" and had to sleep diagonally... That didn't make sense that it was that short.
I'm 6'2" and I can lay in it with my feet against the wedge, but if I sleep diagonally I can sleep comfortably without touching. For how I mounted the awning, I used the mounts that work with my rack (from Xtrusion Overland) and didn't mount it directly to the tent. I show that in more detail in this video I did on my awning (skip to 11:40ish): th-cam.com/video/9VgaZWfxSkQ/w-d-xo.html. Hope that helps!
Hello, Thank you for the great video! I have this tent on the way. Where can I buy the mounting kit you have? I have a RCI rack and would like to you the same mounts you have.

Great video! What size nuts did you use to mount the solar panel to the accessory bar channel? I can’t seem to find the correct size and am looking to also mount solar panels.
Nice review! Looks great. Any idea if that rain fly/awning zips off or is it permanently attached? Was thinking it would be nice to be able to leave it off you wanted.
So, the rain fly doesn't seem to zip off, but interestingly, the entire fabric portion of the tent does have a zipper that runs the length of the thing, which to me indicates that the fabric would be easily replaceable if you ever got a burn hole or tear in the fabric.
FYI, I'm premiering an update video at 6:30PM EST tonight showing the tent opening, closing, plus the bedding that will fit in it and some tips for making opening and closing even easier. I have the very same similar solar panel as you did anyway to see how you ran the wires from your solar panel. Did you run them to the back of your truck?
Good question. So, my house battery is in a sealed Plano crate in the bed of my truck so my solar basically runs down my bed rack and into my secondary battery independent of the cab, which made things pretty easy on me.
No problem! Good question. So, I leave the ladder, the awning poles, the shoe bags, my Coleman 0 degree bag, a wool blanket and a down blanket in there. I couldn't get the pillow to fit, but everything else fits fine!

I actually camped last weekend in the low 30's, but I had a diesel heater running so dry heat and no condensation at all. It even poured down rain overnight, but the diesel heater kind of solves all those problems. I've been out a few times with just a heated blanket in 30's and low 40's and there is some condensation after a night's sleep, but the condensation mat keeps it off the mattress and I just open up the tent the next time there's a nice day and let it air out. No issues at all so far.
Hi, great video. Quick question: are the top and bottom sheets made of aluminum or ABS?Are the top and bottom rails aluminum as well? I'm a window cleaner and want to camp after work...I'd be attaching a 60 lb ladder to the roof racks and want a solid mount. Other than that I'm sold on it and am awaiting your reply before I buy. Thanks!
Hey Mark, the top and bottom of the clamshell are aluminum and pretty solid. The roof racks are also aluminum including the brackets that attach to the side of the roof top tent to support the top rails. I’ve got a solar panel mounted on mine and it doesn’t weigh 60 pounds but it’s super solid.
I just got this tent (Polaris plus), mine has the 12v power strip inside and the Anderson connector underneath the tent. I wanted to power it with a 100w solar panel and a 10a 12v solar controller. Do you know if this will work with the right connectors or do I need to add a battery to the equation?
You would still need some sort of battery to store the power so you could use it on demand. You might not need a very big one though if you’re just powering the lights and charging a phone or something.
Yep! It includes an anti-condensation mat and the stock mattress is passable. I spent probably 50 nights in it and it was fine. Like most of these, you’ll probably want to upgrade the mattress eventually for max comfort.
That's a great question and I'm actually working on a follow up video to this showing how fast it sets up and tears down and I can add that in there as well to show what I keep in it. Here's the short answer to your question, I keep my sleeping bag, a down blanket, a wool blanket, and some random clothes (left a rain jacket up there on a recent trip) and it all fits fine. When you add in a pillow or I tried an inflatable memory foam mattress, that's too much and it won't close, but you can get the majority of bedding up there, excluding the pillow.

nice rtt sir. planning to get me a same one as yours, but i want to know what bracket you use to mount your OVS awning, cause i have the same 270 awning and i want to do the same set up as yours? TIA!!
Thanks! So, I have an Xtrusion Overland bed rack (which is awesome) and they have these optional mounts that push the awning out so the RTT can sit in the middle of the rack. So, I'm using the Xtrusion mounting solution that came with my bed rack.
I appreciate your opinion on the gear you use. Was wondering though, how did this tent hold up after the trail? Any issues or things you felt didn't live up to standard?
Thanks Ken and great question. So, after 2 weeks in it in WY and probably another 7 or 8 camping trips in it, it's holding up great. If I'm thinking of critiques, here are my honest thoughts: * The stock mattress is surprisingly good (most of these cheap tents really suck to sleep in) but this one is not bad. It's not amazing, but it's usable and better than expected. * Being a really slim clamshell, it won't hold much gear, but I do have a sleeping bag, wool blanket, all the awning poles, the shoe bags, and the ladder up in it. * The shoe bags will only attach via the keder rail in the back, so if you use the side ladder, you have to unzip the back of the tent to access the shoe bags (unless you use a different shoe bag, which is what I ended up doing). Other than that, for the money, I feel like it's a great value.
Im thinking of building one of these nature nest for a tacoma but my question is can the floor be disassembled or removed,i would like to build a hatch style floor,i cant see one of these in person to determine if i can modifly the floor
It's a good question. It seems to be sealed, but if you're brave enough, you could always cut a hole in the bottom. I know some Xterra people that did that to make a passthrough in a similar tent and it worked out pretty well.
Honestly, it may be too long for a lower bed rack. However, Naturnest makes another one that's like the iKamper and it's would work great for a shorter rack. Here's a link to that one: amzn.to/3U3ZzHb
It actually doesn’t really good job blocking the light. Afraid exactly where in the video but about 3/4 into the video I show video from inside the tent in the bright morning sun and you can see how dark it is in the tent and then I zip down the window covers and you can see it’s bright sun outside.
Most likely, you would need some sort of upgraded roof rack to be able to take the weight of this tent or similar tents. The most important thing to look for are stats on your dynamic and static roof rack limitations. If you can find that for your vehicle and it’s significantly more than the weight of the tent, you might be fine but you’ll want to do some research.
I think you probably could if you had the hardware. It's aluminum and very strong. I don't know specifically because my bed rack has a unique system that allows me to mount the awning out to the side of the tent via their extrusion system.
Hi there. New to your channel and I appreciate your review of the Naturnest. Just wondering though , other than design as you mentioned what made this particular one stand out over the other similar designs? Have you tried others before and just wasn’t impressed or maybe they didn’t live up to their $$$.
Hi, good question! I've had 3 roof top tents. One that was cheaper (not a hardshell, with a soft cover that was a nightmare to put on and take off, especially in the cold), another one that was similar in design to this but was almost twice as expensive, and then this one for just $1500ish shipped. The biggest standouts to me are that it comes with a condensation mat (none of the other ones I've had had that and it helps with condensation and water to keep your mattress dry), the dark material is really nice to help you sleep better, and the overall design (including the awning that goes over all the windows) really makes it a great value with year-round usability, which is what I was looking for. It definitely makes me question some of the prices of roof top tents because I can't imagine they're are 2-3X better, quality wise to justify the price. Hope that helps!
Yep, I’ve spent about 50 nights in it and it’s holding up great. I’m actually editing a video now of my long term thoughts but the short version is it’s a great tent for the money in my experience.
Hi I am looking at roof top tent- thanks for the review. I have a mitubishi outlander sport what type of roof rack would you recommend and do you know the weight of the tent? Thanks!
The tent is about 170 pounds. You would just need a roof rack that can support that weight and allow for it to be installed. It comes with u bolts so you’d need a fair amount of space under the rack crossbars, but that’s for pretty much any roof top tent. Hope that helps!
Solar isn't included, but I had a 100W solar panel and I have a secondary 200AH LifePo4 battery that I use as a house battery. So, I just bolted it to the cross bars (which are included with the tent) and then ran wires down my bedrack to the secondary battery to keep it charged. Here's the solar panel I've got if it helps: amzn.to/3PgU8SS @MoresAwwad-pg3np
The walls are actually really thick and block a lot of the light. I've used it in about 40-50's and had to vent it because I actually got kind of warm a couple of nights. So, I'm excited to try it out this winter but I think it's going to do better than any of the other tents I've had in the past.
Yeah, so as shown in the video, there are 4 grommets and one big awning that covers the side windows and the back window. The pole mounting positions are movable too so you can move them wherever you need them.@@LostBoysRecovery
@@AllThingsOverlanding OK I just got mine a few days ago and mine does not have four grommet holes. It only came with two poles and it looks like your overhang awning is a lot bigger and has sides on it.
Probably! I'm not super knowledgable on the 4Runner and they're roof rack capabilities. I'm sure there are online forums or Facebook groups though where people have asked that question where you could find some options for racks that would support the weight and give you mounting options. It just mounts via u-bolts that drop down around the roof rack's supports and then synch up on it to hold the tent in place. Easy to mount.
Sure, you could. If you vent them (have the screens zipped, but not the inner windows) or at least have one of them open it helps a bit with closing, just to keep it from becoming a bellows and blowing out the fabric. But, you could definitely zip up all the screens and it should close just fine.
Well, I got it in May or June, so haven't had it in any snow yet. The fabric is actually pretty heavy and I have had it in 30 degree temps and it was great. I run a diesel heater in winter so I'm not terribly worried about insulation, but it definitely seems to be pretty solidly built. I also did have it in a hail storm in Wyoming and it held up great to that and the side awnings let you keep your windows mostly open/vented, which is my favorite part of the design of the tent.
I would go with one of the iKamper style tents that fold out to the side if you're looking to fit 4. This tent can fit 2 adults but that's about the max (maybe a small child or dog if you squeeze a bit). Looks like this one is a budget priced iKamper style knock off if it helps: amzn.to/47OSJtY
It's about 170 pounds so pretty similar to my last tent (maybe a few pounds lighter). The new truck is on a 1.5-2" lift but still has sway bars and I throw it through roundabouts and onramps without even thinking about it. I can tell there's a little bit of weight on the back, but the body roll is pretty minimal.
It would probably fit on a ladder rack, but you would want to check the static and dynamic load ratings for that rack to make sure it can support the weight while open and with you in it as well as while you’re in motion.
It's a good question. I'm 6'2" and my feet touch the bottom (hinge part) of the tent so I sleep a little diagonally. So, you might be pushing it. If you go solo mostly, you could sleep with your head in one corner and your feet in the other one. Most of these clam shells are basically the same size so if you wanted more room, you'd want one that folds out to the side.
They're probably a lot more money, but I've seen ones where the bottom opens up about 6 or 7" as well, and I've also seen some clamshell ones that open up into more of a parallelogram or rectangle instead of triangle. But no idea what kind of room they have inside.
Great review, love the simple open/close operation. Can you tell me how far apart the attachment rails on the underside are? And how are they attached to the floor, bolts, rivets? Thanks.
I'll have to run out and measure them. They're much narrower than my bedrack. If I had to estimate, I'd say they're maybe 24-30" apart? They are bolted through the floor of the tent. @@DIY_Don

Use a VPN set to USA, that might work. Not sure about shipping, but I'd think it would be easier and cheaper since it doesn't have to cross an ocean to you.
Hi there, I just wanted to ask the mattress dimensions? Width and length? I'm almost 6'2" and will be sleeping with the girlfriend all the time so wanting to make sure there is plenty of space.
I'm also 6'2" and it's not bad. My feet do sort of hit the hinge area where the tent opens, but if I sleep a tiny bit diagonal, I don't. Or, you just get used to it. It's about 82" long and about 50" wide in the interior if that helps.
It's still doing great! I actually made a "long term" review of it showing how it's doing and any small flaws that I've noticed after over 50 nights in it that I dropped in December, but even today, it's still great. Here's that other video of the long term thoughts if it helps: th-cam.com/video/qo1F5mMdLUs/w-d-xo.html
Haha, it is when comparable ones are $2500 or more. And it's better built than a ground tent, is always on the truck and ready to go, and takes about a minute to set up and the same to tear down so for the kind of camping I do, it's a good deal for how much I go.
Nope, no issues. I literally bought this tent because of the design of the awning, since it covers the sides and the rear. The other clamshell options mostly just have awning coverage in the rear, but this style allows me to use the sides and also keep my side windows vented, even in a downpour. @@Carl-vx9ws
Yep, I feel that. I'm 6'2" tall and I definitely do hit my feet on the bottom, but I sleep slightly angled and that solves most of it. If you went with your significant other all the time, clamshells may be tight.
These do keep kind of coming in and out of stock. I just checked (right now) and it's back in stock for me here: amzn.to/3q09YYt Also, if it helps, this one is very similar (just slightly different awning, but same manufacturer and same price: amzn.to/3T1pPSE).
These clam shell tents have a nasty habit of making rattling noises. I use to have one and it would always rattle (nothing to do with the mounting, it was snug as a bug in a rug). My buddy just got this exact tent and it also rattles like crazy. Apart from the rattle, they are great. If noise is a concern to you, DO NOT get one of these tents.
Huh, weird. I don't have any rattles (even after about 5K miles over 2 weeks all offroad in Wyoming). I do have a slight whistle from my solar panel that I mounted on the rails, but it's pretty slight and doesn't bother me.
Saw this in Amazon, looked it up on TH-cam and found your video. Weighing my options, but this o tent is probably what I'm going to go with. Thanks for covering it in detail. Awesome stuff.

Great review. Just ordered one. Also. I’d like to know about the third brake light installed on your rack. I need one.
Thanks! Glad it was helpful! I bet you’re talking about my strobe bar on the rack. You could probably find something similar with third brake light functionality but I use it for visibility when it’s super foggy or rusty on trail.
True, the market seems to be dragging down the price on these things pretty quickly.
FYI, I'm premiering an update video at 6:30PM EST tonight showing the tent opening, closing, plus the bedding that will fit in it and some tips for making opening and closing even easier. Here's a link to that premier: th-cam.com/video/jQ3eRICSTP0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=nSbY-npbU27Nhaak

Thanks for the review. This seem like a really nice RTT for the price. Could you tell me the depth of the mounting rails underneath? I’d like to make sure they’ll clear my side awning attached to my rack.
Sure! They're about an inch tall. It's done great so far for the 20 or so nights I've spent in it.
@@AllThingsOverlandingthank you!
Man, I do love my DesertArmor tent, especially because it came with winter insulation panels, but I certainly don't love that it doesn't have the modular channels to mount things, nor does it have cargo bars.
Those are great tents. This thing definitely packs a lot of features though for a budget price.
Mine came with a cat Skelton inside. I still hang it up with the rechargeable light inside the skull.
That should keep the cat ghosts away, :D
you have a V shape tent, ground or roof, get the kind with a bug screen little window at the point of the lower V.
Thanks.
Thanks! The attachment rails are bolted through the floor and I'd say they're about 30ish" apart.

Yep, totally agree.

Hi im going to get Naturnest hardshell tent maybe a couple of weeks and i want to know the what kind of awning did you used? thanks!
Catching up on videos, but love the new intro🔥
Appreciate it dude!
Great job on the video bro. How long is the ladder, 7.5 or 8.5?
Good question! It's 7.5' long. And thanks!
Hello, Thank you for the great video! I have this tent on the way. Where can I buy the mounting kit you have? I have a RCI rack and would like to you the same mounts you have.

What is the length of the mounting rails on the bottom? I need to know spacing of my croosbars.
Hey Paul, sorry for the delay. I finally grabbed a second to go measure them. The channels themselves are about 71 1/4" long. Hope that helps!
Thanks for this review. Are you able to close it with your sleeping gear inside?
No problem! Good question. So, I leave the ladder, the awning poles, the shoe bags, my Coleman 0 degree bag, a wool blanket and a down blanket in there. I couldn't get the pillow to fit, but everything else fits fine!

Have you had a chance to cold weather camp yet? Also any condensation issues? Thanks.
Don’t know if this was mentioned already but can you store your sleeping bags and bedding up in the tent?
I was able to fit my sleeping bag and ladder and awning poles up there, but I had to pull my pillow out.
This came out right after I bought my body armor softroof top tent....bummer I didn't wait just a little longer
Sorry!!
Thanks for your review. 😀
Still loving it, :D.
Does it have an anti condensation mat? How’s the mattress comfort? About to order.
Yep! It includes an anti-condensation mat and the stock mattress is passable. I spent probably 50 nights in it and it was fine. Like most of these, you’ll probably want to upgrade the mattress eventually for max comfort.
I didnt see you go over it in the video but does it closed with sleeping bag and pillows in it?
That's a great question and I'm actually working on a follow up video to this showing how fast it sets up and tears down and I can add that in there as well to show what I keep in it.
Here's the short answer to your question, I keep my sleeping bag, a down blanket, a wool blanket, and some random clothes (left a rain jacket up there on a recent trip) and it all fits fine. When you add in a pillow or I tried an inflatable memory foam mattress, that's too much and it won't close, but you can get the majority of bedding up there, excluding the pillow.

Thanks and thanks!
nice rtt sir. planning to get me a same one as yours, but i want to know what bracket you use to mount your OVS awning, cause i have the same 270 awning and i want to do the same set up as yours? TIA!!
If I'm thinking of critiques, here are my honest thoughts:
* The stock mattress is surprisingly good (most of these cheap tents really suck to sleep in) but this one is not bad.
Thanks, Fletch! Appreciate the feed back.
Not that it really matters, but I do prefer the more rocking intro. Jeep the videos coming!

It's a good question. It seems to be sealed, but if you're brave enough, you could always cut a hole in the bottom. I know some Xterra people that did that to make a passthrough in a similar tent and it worked out pretty well.
@@AllThingsOverlanding ok , good info ... Thanks👍
would you recommend for a lower bed rack? i have the 6' bed as well.
Honestly, it may be too long for a lower bed rack. However, Naturnest makes another one that's like the iKamper and it's would work great for a shorter rack. Here's a link to that one: amzn.to/3U3ZzHb
How is it a early morning when the sun comes out? Does a lot of light comes in?
It actually doesn’t really good job blocking the light. Afraid exactly where in the video but about 3/4 into the video I show video from inside the tent in the bright morning sun and you can see how dark it is in the tent and then I zip down the window covers and you can see it’s bright sun outside.
I own a large SUV and it has plastic roof rail.
Would I need to get a metal or aluminum roof rack like Thule or Yakima?
Most likely, you would need some sort of upgraded roof rack to be able to take the weight of this tent or similar tents. The most important thing to look for are stats on your dynamic and static roof rack limitations. If you can find that for your vehicle and it’s significantly more than the weight of the tent, you might be fine but you’ll want to do some research.
can you mount a 270 awning on the tent rails?
I think you probably could if you had the hardware. It's aluminum and very strong. I don't know specifically because my bed rack has a unique system that allows me to mount the awning out to the side of the tent via their extrusion system.
They are exactly the same both are manufactured in China. You can buy the exact RTT for even less but will have to pay freight.
Yep. I went through Amazon to make a return easier if something were to happen. Plus, I got 5% back in my Amazon card, lol.

Are you still using the rrt? Seriously thinking about it!!!
Yep, I’ve spent about 50 nights in it and it’s holding up great. I’m actually editing a video now of my long term thoughts but the short version is it’s a great tent for the money in my experience.
Been wondering about these AMZ tents they look like the same tents major players are selling. The prices are so different though.
I definitely rolled the dice a bit, but it worked out with this tent!
@@AllThingsOverlanding thanks!
Does it come with a solar panel? I don’t see that on Amazon
Hey man how do you think it woupd do in cold weather? Snow? Are walls thick?
The walls are actually really thick and block a lot of the light. I've used it in about 40-50's and had to vent it because I actually got kind of warm a couple of nights. So, I'm excited to try it out this winter but I think it's going to do better than any of the other tents I've had in the past.
Was wondering what your thoughts were on a s10 zr2 overland build
If it’s well maintained and reliable, it would be a cool build! Only downside may be aftermarket support.
Thanks for sharing. What's the weight?
No problem! It's about 170 pounds.

The rainfly poles did u get 2 or 4? Did u add the side props? Good idea i have same tent
I got 4 with mine.
So u had 4 metal grommits on your rain fly then? To except 4 poles? U must have them for the side windows as well
Yeah, so as shown in the video, there are 4 grommets and one big awning that covers the side windows and the back window.
Would this wotk on a 1998 Toyota 4Runner? What roof mounting system do I need?
Would this tent be too long for a 2dr wrangler?
Not sure. It's 83" long... Maybe?
Quick question - how high did your rack have to be to accommodate this tent given it extends over the cab?
My rack is 2" over cab height (which I want to say is 29" total?) which allows me plenty of room to get it over the roof.
Thanks!@@AllThingsOverlanding
What are the dimensions of the sleeping area/matress?
It's about 82" long and about 50" wide in the interior if that helps.
Can you keep the windows zipped up while you close it?
Sure, you could. If you vent them (have the screens zipped, but not the inner windows) or at least have one of them open it helps a bit with closing, just to keep it from becoming a bellows and blowing out the fabric. But, you could definitely zip up all the screens and it should close just fine.
@@AllThingsOverlanding Thank you!
So how is it in the winter/snow loads 🤔

How’s the weight and does it affect your body roll much?
It's about 170 pounds so pretty similar to my last tent (maybe a few pounds lighter). The new truck is on a 1.5-2" lift but still has sway bars and I throw it through roundabouts and onramps without even thinking about it. I can tell there's a little bit of weight on the back, but the body roll is pretty minimal.
Would this fit onto a ladder rack?
It would probably fit on a ladder rack, but you would want to check the static and dynamic load ratings for that rack to make sure it can support the weight while open and with you in it as well as while you’re in motion.
@@AllThingsOverlanding Thank you for the advice!
For some reason I believed the RTT to be $1000, it's $1498 on Amazon. Am I confused or did the price go up?
So, it was $1299 plus shipping (which was about $300 for me). Now it's just $1498 but shipping is "free." :D
I don't know if I'd trust the ladder at that angle. Personally I would collapse it a little to make it a little closer to the truck and more upright.
Good point. Never had any problems with it fully out. It's only a 7.5' so it's not super long.
What's the measurements closed?
I believe it's about 83" long by 51" wide by about 7" tall.
I'm 6'4 should I get this tent. Will it be possible to lay flat?
@@DIY_Don

Imma get you in woods.
Uh, ok
I just love how $1600 for a TENT is considered Cheap... JFC.
Haha, it is when comparable ones are $2500 or more. And it's better built than a ground tent, is always on the truck and ready to go, and takes about a minute to set up and the same to tear down so for the kind of camping I do, it's a good deal for how much I go.
Nice option however for my vehicle, a primary rear entrance to the tent isn’t ideal. ✌🏼
Totally makes sense. I exclusively use the side entrance anyways, but the awning is slightly longer in the back.
@@AllThingsOverlanding Have you experienced any issues using the side entrance during rain otherwise?
Nope, no issues. I literally bought this tent because of the design of the awning, since it covers the sides and the rear. The other clamshell options mostly just have awning coverage in the rear, but this style allows me to use the sides and also keep my side windows vented, even in a downpour. @@Carl-vx9ws
@@AllThingsOverlanding that’s good news; in case I missed it, what was the interior width?
@@Carl-vx9ws exterior is about 4’ so it’s less than that. Maybe an once off that on each side for the box so my guess would be 45-46” inside.
Do you know what this thing weighs?
Yeah, it's about 170 pounds.
@@AllThingsOverlanding thank you. mixed answers on the amazon page
It's a good looking tent, but with those wedge style tents and my height, I'm always afraid of my feet feeling cramped down by the end.
Yep, I feel that. I'm 6'2" tall and I definitely do hit my feet on the bottom, but I sleep slightly angled and that solves most of it. If you went with your significant other all the time, clamshells may be tight.
DFG Offroad makes a tent that fixes that issue.
Great review. Just too heavy.
Definitely heavy. Not a huge deal on the back of the truck though, but something to consider for sure.
It’s already sold out 😢
These do keep kind of coming in and out of stock. I just checked (right now) and it's back in stock for me here: amzn.to/3q09YYt
Also, if it helps, this one is very similar (just slightly different awning, but same manufacturer and same price: amzn.to/3T1pPSE).
@@AllThingsOverlanding We both have Prinsu racks for our 4Runners. It could be the tent combined with the racks.
wow, camping machine ! these days , going into woods does not mean to change too much.
I love how fast it is to set up and tear down. It makes trips so much more enjoyable.
