Awesome looking truck fellas. One thing I'd recommend as a 79 series cruiser owner myself, is a 300mm chassis extension with a canopy and especially the two spare tires on the back. They handle like an absolute pig when the weights on the ass like that. Still awesome build

Looks absolutely unreal but wouldn’t that quickly go over gvm even with the upgrade?
Fuel 295L + the weight of the tank
water 70L + the weight of the tank
2 extra wheels on the back
    5 people in it
    fridge with food
    2 x extra batteries
    Solar panel
    Soundproofing
    Snorkel
    full steel bullbar
    Winch
    Radio + aerial
    Compressor
    Spot lights all round
    Full steel roof rack
    Awning
that weight would be border line surely as the 79 dual cab starts at approx 2316kg. No hate just extremely interesting to see what this thing would weigh fully loaded. Once again it looks fantastic just curious.

I know now that Patriot Campers have partnered with Exploration Outfitters in order to supply them their camper trailers and tray + canopy setups. Also Mits Allow Newcastle has a distributor in the USA. Finally GCI Traytek can export around the world. There are many options on the market.
However, this particular setup is really impressive and practical. But don’t expect a cheaper price, you pay for what you get, especially in a Series 79 Land Cruiser (which is as expensive as a mid spec Mercedes Benz GLS).

$100K+ vehicle to go off road, great idea. Most people only make $65K a year and blowing x2 that is stupidity. But a lot do it.

    • @GR8Tmate
      @GR8Tmate 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Mate, in 2021, the average ‘Wage earner’ in Australua makes over $90,000 a year, if overtime & allowances is included that jumps to about $93,500.
About 12 years ago I built a single cab 79. Back then there weren’t so many options & of course based on 2011 prices I spent about $125,000 building the vehicle. I spent 7 years travelling full time in it & about 3 years doing part time travel & I sold the thing (pre-covid) for a tad under $90,000. I travelled almost 285,000km in it & only had one non warranty repair on a seal, so my running costs were just usual maintenance.
All up I dropped about $36,000 on a vehicle I kept for a decade and did the equivalent kilometres of almost 9 return trips from Sydney to New York in it. It’s a stack of outback tracks.
Now whilst I always laugh at people that talk about cars being investments, I can say this, that’s the best $30,000 odd dollars I’ve ever lost. (Of course I’m excluding running costs because you’ll have them no matter what you drive) The amount of memories & great places that LC took me can’t even be counted. There’s a reason why it’s Australia’s BEST vehicle for resale value, so I’d say to anyone that was thinking about it, just do it, be mindful of your weights and regularly service it, be mechanically kind and there’s no reason why you couldn’t get 6-700,000kms &!more out of one of these things before you need to do any major work on it. A reasonably ‘measured’ decked out 79, might end up costing, $150-160k but your probably going to get 70% + of that back if you look after it.
I suppose the alternative is grabbing a back pack & legging it BUT I know which one I’d prefer. 👍
