So help me understand this. I'm lonely, but I shouldn't try to find a girl, instead I need to learn to be happy alone. But If I'm happy alone, why would I look for a partner? I'm not trying to be antagonistic, I'm dealing with a lot of emotions and I'm trying to be grow as a person. Please help
Hi James, Thanks so much for sharing. The idea we're trying to share here is that a relationship with God is the true solution for loneliness. By trying to fill that hole or void with something other than God (like a romantic relationship), we believe you're not setting yourself up for success. Your question about why you'd look for a partner if you're happy alone is a great one. 1 Corinthians 7:8-9 actually says that singleness might even be a better solution, but it's not necessarily the right solution for everyone. "To the unmarried and the widows I say that it is good for them to remain single, as I am. But if they cannot exercise self-control, they should marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion." Hopefully this helps to better elaborate what we're trying to share here.
Seeking Jesus to fill the loneliness is definitely the answer. I'd add that the Bible says we are supposed to function with other Christians like a family - so also pursue a good church and good Christian friends. These are sometimes hard to find! Take courage and may God give you hope, courage and direction!
God bless you for this message! Thank you very much!
Happy to help :)
Amen

I suppose learn to be alone, all the while looking for a partner. Because we're not meant to be alone, romantically or not, but we're also often are.
