About "is nonbinary a gender?" as a nonbinary person. It's an umbrella term, describing anyone who isn't 100% a man or woman all of the time. So this includes agender, genderfluid, genderqueer people, demigirls, demiboys, and a lot of other people. Some people use it as a term to describe their gender, some people use it to describe their *absence* of gender. Personally, I just use it to say "I am not a woman, I am not a man, I'm just human and tired."
TLDR: nonbinary can be a gender and it can mean "I am no gender", both is true

@@bugzta236 When nonbinary is used as an umbrella term all it means is that whatever gender you do or do not have, it isn't one of the two binary ones. Like my gender is best described as gender fluid trans feminine, but that's a lot of gender jargan that would often trigger more questions and confusion than I have the energy to deal with. So I just use the term nonbinary as a simple way to indicate that I am neither a man or a woman without going into unessesry detail
i’ve always seen non-binary as something similar to saying someone is cis. it’s not a gender itself, it’s just an umbrella term for the dozens of genders in that category. similar to how being cis isn’t a gender, but being a cis guy or a cis gal is.
Since gender (as we know it) is controlled by certain brain waves, I like to think of it as we do the colors and light. All three are spectrums, and I find them highly comparable. Someone who is a woman is on one end of the spectrum, you find many varying genders in between, and you have people who are men on the other side. Where are the enbies who don't have a gender you ask? Well, I believe that they are similar to ultra-violet and infrared. Their gender (or absence of one, really) is so incomprehensible to the human brain that we, the sad little normies, can only get a glimpse of its greatness because if we were to truly see it, we would be blinded.

When I was 4 pretty much all adults called a boy I hated my boyfriend. Then when I got older, like 7 and didn't hang out with him, another boy was really annoying and always stole my work in class and they said 'be nice to him, it's just because he likes you'

The whole "sexualising kids" thing is messed up. I remember that last summer there was a drama about the Disney movie "Luca". Basically, people shipped the two main characters, Luca and Alberto, which are both male. People said, that they're kids and they can't be gay, because people their age don't know their sexuality, (keep in mind that both of the characters are (13-14). It's so funny, because when people ship two teenage characters who are the same sex, it's suddenly "sexualising kids", but when people ship teenage character who are the opposite sex, it's okay (for ex. Marinette and Adrien from Miraculous Ladybug). They are both 14 and people freak out about them and ship them! The double strandars are so tiring.

@@SB-iy9vn I don’t know you and I don’t know your history but first of all, I don’t live in the states I’m from the UK, also I am not denying that horrible things like that happen. Things like that is what makes trans people oppressed.
It is illegal to be gay in over 72 countries and impossible to get transgender healthcare in so many more. For years being apart of the LGBTQ+ community has been seen as a “mental illness” and only recently we are getting the attention and care we deserve.
As a trans person myself and someone who knows plenty of other trans people, we at some point or another have all seriously considered suicide because we are either not accepted by society or because we can’t get the help we need. Last year alone, over 57 trans people were killed simply because they were not cisgender.
So yes we are oppressed and I hope that someday you can grow and realise that.

I am so fed up about the "sexualising kids"-argument. I've heard "explaining asexuality to teenagers is sexualising them" too many times. The background there is, apparently, that "telling children something is wrong with them if their attraction isn't sexual" is wrong. Which completely misunderstands the fundamentals of the queer community, that wants desperately to validate and teach that you are not wrong for being you.
But then they will be telling to literal babies that they will be "womanizers", when you search school uniform for little girls, its very s3xualized, also halloween costumes for little kids, then they will be saying boys will be boys for grabbing you, and then they will think for a female teacher that its ok to be with a minor "bc he was horny"

It's really not that hard to understand the concept of being anything else than straight or cis (even/especially for kids). It's not a bad thing to teach them about who others are attracted and maybe they even learn to understand themselves better.

It seems to them any concepts connected to the LGBTQIA is inappropriate when it's involves kids. I remember discussing Luffy who is pretty much confirmed Asexual and this guys argument was that Luffy is like a kid and it would be wrong to say a kid is Ace. Tbh I stopped attempting to make sense of it because they're clearly making excuses to complain.
Not to mention how hypocritical it is. The same people who say "it's inappropriate to talk to children about sexuality and gender, they're way too young" will also turn around to their kids and say "Aww, do you have a little girlfriend in kindergarten?" "He's teasing you because he likes you!" "Look at that little heartbreaker". I'm so done with this argument. There's so much proof out there that kids are 100% capable of understanding these topics and being fine. The only reason anyone worries about them is because they're bigoted and somehow think LGBT+ topics are "more dangerous" than the straight agenda they've been pushing since the beginning of time.

(Not related to abortion, but freedom to choose what your body needs) when I had to have a full on argument with my dad about antidepressants and the fact that I’m the one in control of the bottle and not my mother, but he didn’t want me on meds bc of how his ex wife abused his sons adhd meds by only giving it to him during school (meaning weekends and summers were full of withdrawals and bs). I think that people really tend to forget just how much a child can take care of themselves and make decisions for themselves even before the age of 18. I’ve been managing my own meds since about 13-14ish, I knew well before then that I needed help, I had sh before, and I knew about the birds and the bees from a very young age (even tho I didn’t fully understand it I knew more than you’d think any 5 year old should know).

As a non-binary person, I personally believe that you can use the term "non-binary" to describe your gender OR/AND your gender expression.
Since non-binary is an umbrella term, which contains terms as "agender", any demigenders, "genderfluid", "gender queer" and literally everything that isn't cisgender.
Ofc everybody can interpret this term in their own way!
I see it as both the umbrella term for the other non binary identies, and as a gender identity itself. I'm non binary too

This 100%! My problem is that agender with they/them pronouns seems to be what is assumed even though there are sooo many identities and many people use she/her or he/him pronouns as a Nb. I never label myself Nb as a result bc being called “they” makes me uncomfortable. Even using two sets of pronouns seems unknown to the non-Nb world.

I am a, Christian Bisexual who is female. The way our people are today, calling the lgbtqia+ people in our community "false followers of god" truly- hurts. This is why I like modern catholicism, I'm enby and catholic, and all the people in my school and hence community accept me and all other lgbt+ kids. The community from my school's church has saved lives simply supporting the kids who weren't accepted at home. To me, that's true catholicism. Loving unconditionally, and giving a hand to those going through tough times.

i usually use something like, "before i came out" or "before i identified as enby" that way people would know what i identify as now and would know i'm talking about before i came out too. hope that can help you :)
I, as a nonbinary person, see the term 'Nonbinary' as and umbrella of genders and non-genders. To be nonbinary is to not be exclusively a man or a woman. This includes, but is not limited to, agender, bigender, trigender, xenogender, pangender, demigender, and genderfluid. Hope this helps!

The way I use non binary is more like an adjective, like trans. It's more of a description of your gender expression rather than a gender in and of itself.
On the other hand, if someone feels like it's a spectrum of male to female with nb in the middle, then that is completely valid as well. At the end of the day, it's however you want to express yourself 💛🤍💜🖤

That’s exactly what my mom told me when she found out I was (kind of) dating someone who wasn’t within the gender binary. (Let’s keep in mind I having a full breakdown during that conversation.)
I find it so weird how, despite them having known I’m not straight for over three years, they still don’t believe me. It’s still a ‘taboo’ topic in my household.
When my parents found out the first time, I was basically banned from interacting with any of my friends at the time, and then the topic of my queerness wasn’t touched for three years.
I’m scared to tell them anything sexuality related, much less the fact I think I might be nonbinary.

I had an ex tell everybody I was only a bet to prove that he could turn me straight. After six months of being together. It was probably one of the most heartbreaking things that ever happened to me. It was even more of a slap in the face because he convinced me to get each other's names tattooed on each other to prove I loved him.
